  • I show you how to remove the evaporator core without having to remove the entire dash. Under the black box for the hvac system there’s an access panel.

Happy father's day everyone. I just did this job in 48 minutes. I removed my passenger seat for better access and cut a notch in the insulation so that I could see better. Thanks again Bradley

Heck Yeah!! it didnt take me too long either. Waited longer on part store to open up than it did to go the entire job.

Getting ready to pull the dash before I found your video. Got a 1995 gmc v6. Replaced compressor and dryer. But all aluminum lines are seized to steel nuts. I twisted off the necks after a few hours of gentle persuasion didnt work. Also fyi, in the lower line to your condensor (behind grille) is your orifice, in the condensor neck. It always needs to be changed. Only a $1-2 part. It captures trash in the system. So thankful that this dash doesnt need removed. Too hot to wrestle with it in August. 👍👍

22KPAR1X Cyberdyne I ended up replacing everything so it got a new orifice tube with the new condenser. And yeah this is my dd and I was afraid to remove the dash. Being that if it got put back together wrong or if I damaged the dash I was going to be mad. But I’ve had it done about a week after the video and I haven’t had a single problem with anything. She blows cold if it’s below 95° outside. Eletric fans help a ton but not with this Florida heat.

I had to put a new compressor on my 97 last weekend (after replacing both lower intake manifold gaskets a week earlier), and was trying to get the old drier off and the same thing happened with mine. Good thing I've already got a new evaporator core anyway. I was dreading having to pull the dash out, but this is gonna save me a hell of a lot of time!

Everyone I talked to and watched said the dash had to be removed and my life doesn’t allow enough time for that. It’s my only vehicle. Almost a year later and truck still gets ice cold.

I loosen the box at the firewall think it helped a bit. Seems the insulation on back of the fire wall hinders you from getting the sum itch screw I scratch it down with a pick seem to help. What a pita . Seems my evap was leaking from the stain and dust in the cover so it was destined. I about gave up and pulled the dash until I watched a video on removing the dash. Gave me the extra I know I can do excentive to get her done . Good luck get her done mentality helps. Thankyou you and another similar video on a yukon got me thur it love you guys that persevere and take time to record it . This buds for you God Bless

Bradley - thanks for making this video. Am going to give it a try instead of tearing my dash apart to replace the Evap Core.
Question - Chevy shows a discontinued rectangular foam gasket (Evaporator Core Seal #52464036}. Did you need to replace yours or were you able to re-use it? Thanks - Dave

I managed to do all of this without taking the dash. But I can not get that plastic housing to line back up for the evaporator core. It’s like a half inch off in the back like it’s getting hung up. Did you have this issue?

I have 99 Tahoe 2dr with the floor rear heat and padded firewall insulation and cannot access the front bolt but was able to get the one near the evaporator. Has any one had success doing this in a tahoe

Same issue with the padding in my surburban. I unbolted the 3 or 4 bolts in the engine bay that hold the whole assembly to the firewall, it allowed me to wedge something in there to get the extra 3/4" needed to get past the padding

  • @gregorypace2641

You notice there is no real R & R in this video because this method will not work, I cut the 1 1/4" dash support to the left of the evaporator, removed the 3 rivets on the right and the 15 MM bolt on the right, bar comes right out , Take a Dremel tool with a cutter blade and neatly cut around the evaporator and it will slide right out, glue back with silicone in a caulk gun, took me 1/2 hour, didn't remove the heater core.

What type of truck you got a 2000 right !? On those yeah you have to take out the all dash order to not do that process 96 or 98 and úrder you can do it with taking out the dashboard
