Left the UK in 2008 with my Wife and Kids. Been staying in Malaysia since 2009. We all love it and none of us wish to return. We had a good life in the UK, but we just felt there must be something better. There is, we went back to the UK for 18 months after Covid, staying we friends we had a great time, but, we could not wait to get back. Financially we are living on the edge, but still prefer this life. My two Sons are married to Asians, and have had great experiences they would never have had in back in (beautiful) Devon.
Nice to hear this. I liked Malaysia but I need to spend more time there, learning the best places. It would be tough for me to go back to the UK now. I count myself lucky to be from Devon though, it could be worse 🤣
@@WalkAboutWayne Yeah, We moved to Dartmouth when we first got Married and raised our family in Devon finishing up in Tiverton. Loved it, but we had the wanderlust.
Thank you dear! I was widowed at 39, with four little ones. At 55 I met a guy gave him 5 years, but, I really was to used to being alone! Now I am 67 still alone, tiny living, playing grandmother and traveling freely 8 months out of the year. My party days were done, long before, by early thirties I was having baby after baby all planned. But, did not plan his departure. That alone made me so strong, people just get in my way! lol I get it “mate”…..live cheap go far is my motto now…….thanks for the video. During the holidays, when I am in the US, it is a bit harder to explain my life, women my age stopped surfing, and jungle trekking! lol Happy Holidays to all! 🙌🕊💕
Thank you for sharing this, it was great to read and i can totally understand. I prefer being on my own sometimes. I hope life is good for you and hope you can do some surfing again one day 🤣 Thanks again and Happy Holidays. ♥️
Thanks a lot for sharing ! You really engaged my interest explaining how you had worked out your doubts and contradictions. You seem to have ended up contented and in a positive frame of mind. And in this video, despite its main theme, you've managed once again to highlight what a hidden gem Phayao is.
Sheesh. I am 24 years old and I already think like this. Having done a lot of inner work and finally stepping into my authentic self by utilising my innate self-reflective nature, I see the beauty and wonder in life, transcending the illusion of ego. I am also not perfect but through embracing the pain and trauma I learnt to transform my life. No longer bound by opinions, the need for validation and the judgment of myself and others. The world is a mirror, the universe (you-in-verse) reflects that which you have within. My emotions no longer take hold of me as I now observe them, as I am the container for the temporary experience of the (e)nergy-in-(motion). Such wonder in both polarities in life. And much to be grateful for.
Thank you for your honesty and for sharing not only your thoughts but your feelings as well. You and Bill's videos are why I went to chiang mai in the first place 3 years ago and retiring there in a year. Sounds like your ready to go home to chiang mai.
Nice chat, man. I'm a few years older than you and can totally relate to what you're saying. I've been through most of what you talked about. Never been called granddad at a club before (Ouch!) but I felt like one when it finally hit me one night that I'd become the old man in the club that my friends and I used to laugh at. Haven't been back since (just had to admit my time had passed and it was time to move on...lol). I'm a big fan of music from the 70's, 80's and most of the 90's. I've tried to like the music of today but don't like most of it, TBH. But I never wanted to be that older guy preaching to young people about how music today isn't as good as the music of my youth, so I don't vocalize it. Always enjoy your personal thoughts vlogs. Keep up the good content!
Thanks Earl, i remember my last night in the club, i had the getting older moment, put my glass down and went home. I never went out again after that. I stopeed being angry with new music and things changing also. I was angry for a while, then i relised it has to move on. Thank you buddy.
Thanks for sharing that. I’ve been down a similar road myself. Back in NY, I was dealing with some mild depression, caught up in drinking, partying, and leaving friends behind. Changing my environment and traveling solo turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made.
A nice philosophical chat about things . The dreaming can be creative or a way of procrastination . Good to watch out for not taking action. Cheers mate
Thank you Wayne sincerely for sharing your life so openly, honestly and perfectly including these ten points. All ten points are spot on and relatable and I needed to hear it. I'm in my 50's and can more than relate to every word and need a push/inspiration to start living again. I've been to Thailand and love it, I've been to many provinces and driven all over but with my Thai girlfriend and also with her family who are from rural Thailand. That relationship is now coming to an end and I will be on my own and have been a bit lost in direction and hesitant to start life anew. I'm living in Canada as is she and I also have never travelled on my own. My 'dream' was to move to Thailand with her however now it will have to be on my own. There comes a time in life when change comes and you have to learn to live with it and embrace it, and accept yourself as you are. Watching your vlogs, particularly this vlog has come at the prefect time and has given me a clarity and introspection of myself and to learn not to get trapped by only dreaming and not acting. Thanks again for sharing and so perfectly summarizing all of these points. Cheers
Thanks for the great message and thank you for watching. I hope one day you can move to Thailand. You will be fine on your own. The best thing i ever did was come here alone. Thanks again.
Nice one Wayne. The majority rings true with me. Mates of mine used to travel here there and everywhere alone and I was pretty insecure in that respect. Yes, the what ifs basically consumed the brain and the safety of home won over for quite some time. Finally I got over that once I travelled with a mate or two. Cheers. 🤩
Just catching up been on the move to freezing Chiang rai. I like you did lots to excess and enjoyed every moment but there was payback as in mental health so it was time to move on. So now living here with my family I am happy but find myself reambering being a kid and my life with my late parents how lucky I was back then. I do miss home a lot and friends and familiar surroundings. But Wayne now I dont care what people think about me but cant figure if that good or bad thing but my life here is one hundred times better then back home. Thanks for your honesty it made me think.
Nice one Colin! Yes, bit nippy out now right. I was nearly in Chiang Rai again myself a few days back. I decided not to in the end. I must admit, i do miss a few things from back home, but i know i would hate being back there . Cheers mate.
"What the angels in the sky are doing we don't know - just one thing we can assume is that they don't marry" You are one of those angels Wayne. Just keep on flying and do your thing. Thanks for sharing and all luck on your ways !!!
Great conversation mate - breaking the cycle at home , unhealthy habits , we all dwell on many things , over think many things , travelling has enhanced my life 110% - easier to monitor your health , keep active mentally & physically - happy days in happy Thailand - Thanks WW 👋✔️👍🙏
This is great, and what a beautiful setting. I haven't watched you for a while because I had to come back to the UK and I really miss Thailand. I'm trying to get back out there as soon as I can. Thanks for the share.
These videos where You take everything a lot deeper, are amazing🙏🏻! Thank You so much for sharing these thoughts of genuine wisdom - it is really an eye opener🙌🏻 If there was a “Bobby Dazzler Price” for philosophers, You would rip it😄👍🏻
I think you've really hit on some key issues, at least for some of us. Many of these points are exactly what have kept me sitting on the fence. You've pointed them out nicely. Appreciated.
Fantastically candid vlog with very wise words of wisdom. Made my day mate and reminded me of the true value of life whatever your age. Live your life and accept whatever stage you’re at in age. Thanks for making it all make sense ❤
Damn Wayne - this touched me deeply. I usually avoid “10 things” videos but I’m happy I clicked yours. I’m gonna be making some adjustments based on your wise words ❤.
Great video once again Wayne. Everyone of the ten adjustments you mentioned are so true, although when you talked about cutting things off, I thought and then began hoping and praying that you never stop seeing the ladies! haha But, seriously, your journey in life has made you very wise and it has made you into the special man you are today! I love your honesty and all of your videos! Take it easy man!
Everything you said Wayne is so true and what a lot of men think about including me, most days. Especially 80,90s holding onto that nostalgia seems to be something I can’t let go. My wife and I talk about a lot of these subjects you have spoken about in this video for many years now. We are both heading towards the big 50 and don’t know why it went so quick ! It’s very hard to think forward you have done so well with your journey mate.
I had a similar 20’s, 30’s, only difference is I was quite a high earning professional, but partied hard for many years. I recently sold all my DJ kit, it was easier than I thought to let go. Nothing wrong with moving on and closure. I’m in Pha Chana Dai (most eastern point in Thailand) arrived Sunday to Bangkok, travelling for a month.
I sold everything except my vinyl, it's the hardest thing to let go. I know i have to do it, but damn it's hard. I was collecting vinyl since i was 13. Nice, have a good time travelling buddy!
Well said, Wayne. I am 51 and am going through similar life adjustments. The complexity of life will fade away when you stop striving to be something you are not. The only thing to really fear is realizing this too late.
Hi Wayne, watch many of your videos regularly and thought I would comment for the first time ever to anyone. I usually watch on tv and not sure how you comment from the tv but today on the computer. Just realised I was not subscribed to you, subscribed now, just lucky I was getting your videos. I think you are very talented. I think people see a little bit of themselves in you, or maybe a lot of themselves as with me. Thank you Wayne for your work
Brilliant video wane strait to the point your journey is 💯 same as I had and did the same party all round the world 🌍 from the dance rave days !! But looking forward to spending time in Thailand like your self keep up the good work ✌️
Always enjoy listening to your perspectives in life - really looking forward to the opportunity to shrae our views later this month. Wising you a pleasant journey!
90's early 2000's Rave house DJ event promoter as well. moving to Lampang from Pattaya Jan 1st. I still produce house for labels, but the party has long been gone.
I soooo relate to so much here. Dont give up on a family Wayne. You’re still young for a man. 😉I am a bit like you though. I’m very happy on my own and get irritated when I have to consult someone else before making decisions. The grandkids and traveling bring me the most joy😉
Great content Wayne. Some great advice. I am curious how much you came to Thailand with at the start. I am planning to retire in Hua hin in a few years so would be interested to know.
A very heartfelt vlog from a stunning location. I think Xmas time brings reflection, another year ending. How about the 10 (or more) things you've gained mate? Glad you're not going down the road of a rug🤣
Same as mate I actually like my own company never felt lonely one thing I found was all my friends were jealous I left the uk when I moved to Bangkok with about seven pairs of jeans and never worn any of them here 😂😂
I prefer being on my own most of the time. The good thing about Thailand is you;re never alone 😉. It's a great life ay. I'm the same buddy, i had clothes and crap everywhere. I got rid of most of it but i always end up buying something i don't need. Cheers buddy.
You are mature, not old, mate! All a part of life's lessons, on the bumpy road to becoming a true adult. Some people embrace them earlier/later than others - no big deal, everyone is different. Ofc, some people are stubborn & never grow up - becming the karens & old, bitter, ever-angry keyboard warriors of social media... lol. :) In any case, glad you are enjoying the life of freedom from (fill in the blank).
You know that old saying "You can't go home again"? Well, it's true. Home is not the same, and neither are you. You sure picked an idyllic setting to discuss this, and don't sell yourself short on a relationship man, the right girl might be out there on your next trip. When are you coming back to your stomping grounds? I want to have a beer if you get back here this week, I got a souvenir for ya. Getting rid of my posessions will be hard, the biggest hurdle I have to get over to move here.
my question is the single easy life you have in thailand sounds great, but would you still be as happy without youtube to keep your mind occupied. i think that main goal in life is being happy and keeping your mind occupied. without that drink and drugs are waiting
Sure, I've said on vlogs before that UA-cam has helped me stay in Thailand. But that's life, right? Everyone has to have something to be occupied, like you mentioned. You're right about keeping occupied. I will add, I'd already been a changed man back home for some years though and I didn't have UA-cam. But I agree, you need something and it's easy to fall back to old habits. Cheers.
When you are under 30, you want to have a large group of cool friends and be part of some "in-crowd". As you get older, you realize that lifestyle is somewhat of an illusion and a small number of good friends is enough. Everyone else just comes and goes.
Am surprised you can live in Thailand with what income? Do you have a pension? I would love to know. I'm working my a** off for my retirement with little stress... 😮
Surprised? Why surprised? Thousands of westerners live in Thailand. I’m just the same as anyone buddy, I worked my ass off the same. No magic about being here, just graft and having a few income streams 👍
😂 Yeah...of all vah fings you DIDN'T give up...what's the one fing you couldn't do without? You know...yeah...vat one fing you just weren't willing to adjust. 😂
Me again buddy. I know where you’re coming from. Reading between the lines it’s not just a case of growing out of it because of time and change. I’m a bit older than you so I speak with some degree of experience. It’s also a case of, I need to stop this so I can wake up tomorrow…. Get my drift ? You did the right thing to save yourself and your mind I trust you understand 🙏🙏
I didn't always agree with you, but this is your best video ever. Well done!
Nice one Brian. Cheers 👍

Bang on mate.
Just turned 60 - think I am 40 - body says 70...🤣
🤣 The aches and pains tell me I’m not in my 20s anymore.
Great vlog mate making me understand things much more clearly
Thanks buddy
Thanks a lot for sharing ! You really engaged my interest explaining how you had worked out your doubts and contradictions.
You seem to have ended up contented and in a positive frame of mind.
And in this video, despite its main theme, you've managed once again to highlight what a hidden gem Phayao is.
Thanks! I can't complain, life is good. Phayao is such a gem, this setting was perfect for this video. It's one of the great places of the north.
Thank you mate, what an awesome video, I hope to see you around when I move there 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for this. I’m 35 and moving alone to Bangkok in January. A lot of what you are talking about is very relatable!
Nice! I hope it all goes well for you in Bangkok buddy.
This video really resonated with me! I appreciate the words of Wisdom! Sabai Sabai!! PEACE!
Thanks! Sabai Sabai 👍
As always Wayne, you've hit the nail on the head👍
Thanks Tanya 👍
I can remember the day I said to myself, "You have to stop telling people your dreams ... and start doing them."
Have never looked back. Great advice.
That's right! I always use to do that. "I'm going to do this, i'm going to do that". Best to just say nothing and do it. Thanks
Being happy and content in our own skin is priceless. Fear of the unknown can be paralysing for some. Conquer that fear. It's like a set of wings.
Very true Lars, great words mate.

Blimey I had no idea you were such a philosopher, great to hear what you've got to say
Lots of similar vlogs on the channel mate, it’s not all skittles and champagne videos 🤣🤣. Cheers Nigel mate 👍
I'm 53 and can relate to a lot of this. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks buddy 👍
Wise words from Wayne, Thanks
I've always enjoyed watching your uploads Wayne. You are such a genuine spirit with a rich tapestry of life experience. Stay authentic & blessed.
Thanks Marcus, mucha appreciated.

Your heartfelt videos are incredibly genuine. You clearly pour your soul into every word. You're the best on UA-cam with these talks.
Thanks man! I'm not sure about that, but these sort of vlogs do come natural to me. Cheers.

Thanks for the great message and thank you for watching. I hope one day you can move to Thailand. You will be fine on your own. The best thing i ever did was come here alone. Thanks again.
Thanks for the up Bud. I am coming up on retiring myself. Can't wait.
Happy Days mate, you'll soon be living the good life.
Cheers. 🤩
Cheers mate! Yes, these are all hurdles i had to get over. I guess we all have to with age.

You are one of those angels Wayne. Just keep on flying and do your thing. Thanks for sharing and all luck on your ways !!!
I like it! Cheers mate.
Nice one Wayne....I did the same as you, I am also in Chiang Mai right now. I started 13 years ago. I am also an Englishman. Not missing home.
Nice mate! It’s a good life right 👍
Excellent topic and a fantastic solution for a happy life.
Congratulations for finding yourself and the way to happiness.
Good job!!
Thanks Charles 👍
Great content Wayne and I enjoyed your honesty.
Thank you Brian 🙏
Great conversation mate - breaking the cycle at home , unhealthy habits , we all dwell on many things , over think many things , travelling has enhanced my life 110% - easier to monitor your health , keep active mentally & physically - happy days in happy Thailand -
Thanks WW 👋✔️👍🙏
That’s right mate, heading out on my own was the best thing I ever did 👍
This is great, and what a beautiful setting. I haven't watched you for a while because I had to come back to the UK and I really miss Thailand. I'm trying to get back out there as soon as I can. Thanks for the share.
Hey mate, yeah not seen you for a while. I know what the back home blues are like. Hope you can get back over soon. Thanks man
These videos where You take everything a lot deeper, are amazing🙏🏻!
Thank You so much for sharing these thoughts of genuine wisdom - it is really an eye opener🙌🏻
If there was a “Bobby Dazzler Price” for philosophers, You would rip it😄👍🏻
Thank you buddy! This was a great message to read. Bobby Dazzler !
Great video mate! It mirrors my experience a fair bit.
Thank you. Mate
Welcome to Thailand, I hope you find something good here.🙂
Thank you! Good luck with your channel 🙏
Never say going back home. Thailand is your home now . Own it . Your story is one of making the right moves and good on you
England is always my home, but yes, I don’t have any plans to live back there yet. Thanks mate
I think you've really hit on some key issues, at least for some of us. Many of these points are exactly what have kept me sitting on the fence. You've pointed them out nicely. Appreciated.
Thanks! I was on that fence for years. I'm sure you'll get off it soon. I still get back on the fence sometimes.
Fantastically candid vlog with very wise words of wisdom. Made my day mate and reminded me of the true value of life whatever your age. Live your life and accept whatever stage you’re at in age. Thanks for making it all make sense ❤
Thank you 👍
Damn Wayne - this touched me deeply. I usually avoid “10 things” videos but I’m happy I clicked yours. I’m gonna be making some adjustments based on your wise words ❤.
Thanks! Yeah, this is not the normal 10 things. Bit more personal this one.
Very valid points that I can certainly relate to. Im 60 and still haven’t let go or give up what you did. My hat goes off to you brother.
Thanks! It's not easy to give up things, but I knew I wanted to come here.
Thanks mate! I could never cut out the ladies 🤣. Life is good now, we all need to make those changes when we get older. Take it easy, man.
Great video, Wayne. Appreciate you brother.
Thanks mate 👍

Nice one buddy!
worry is the fear of pain in the future... sure, I have it too, but Thai seem to have less of it.
Very true 👍
I had a similar 20’s, 30’s, only difference is I was quite a high earning professional, but partied hard for many years. I recently sold all my DJ kit, it was easier than I thought to let go. Well said, Wayne. I am 51 and am going through similar life adjustments. The complexity of life will fade away when you stop striving to be something you are not. The only thing to really fear is realizing this too late.
100% mate! Thanks buddy.
Love you man you are #1 .Thank you for all.
I appreciate that!
In my early 40s, single, this all made so much sense to me. Keep the good Wayne.
Thanks for watching 👍
Great post. Top bloke👍🍺
Nice one buddy 👍
Nice video. I was wondering what camera and mic do you use for your videos?
Thanks! I use a GoPro and Rode mic for this video.
Thank you Wayne for your work
Hi Robert, this was such a great video to read. Thank you for watching mate and the kind words mate, I appreciate it.
Brilliant video wane strait to the point your journey is 💯 same as I had and did the same party all round the world 🌍 from the dance rave days !! But looking forward to spending time in Thailand like your self keep up the good work ✌️
Thanks buddy! Hope you can get back to Thailand soon 👍
Always enjoy listening to your perspectives in life - really looking forward to the opportunity to shrae our views later this month. Wising you a pleasant journey!
Happy Days! Thanks 👍
I think like you Time waits for no one. Our lives are short. Live in the present and live happily, peacefully, and don't worry or stress too much. 😊
That's right, the older I got the more I just want to live a chilled life in the present.
Another great Vlog Wayne. 👌
Thanks buddy!
90's early 2000's Rave house DJ event promoter as well. moving to Lampang from Pattaya Jan 1st. I still produce house for labels, but the party has long been gone.
Nice! I love my 90s house also. Lampang is a nice city, big move from Pattaya. Hope it all goes well mate and keep making the music 👍
It's when I was offered a seat on the train that I realised I was getting old😝
Hahaha, I've not had that yet, but that day will come.
BRILLIANT….WAYNE, YOU ARE A GOOD MAN….WISHING YOU WELL
Thank you 🙏
Really interesting and honest listen Wayne. I related to most of it. I guess we are all a work in progress. How did we get old so quickly hey 🥴
Thanks Michael, yes where does the time go, i was young only yesterday 🤣.
Nice one mate well said
Nice one Andrew 👍
I soooo relate to so much here. Dont give up on a family Wayne. You’re still young for a man. 😉I am a bit like you though. I’m very happy on my own and get irritated when I have to consult someone else before making decisions. The grandkids and traveling bring me the most joy😉
Thanks Brenda, maybe one day i'll have a family but i been on my own for to long. I hope your well and hope you can travel again soon.
This is a really good video.
Thanks 👌
Great content Wayne. Some great advice. I am curious how much you came to Thailand with at the start. I am planning to retire in Hua hin in a few years so would be interested to know.
Thank you mate! I might be doing some money and cost vlogs soon. I had some savings, not an amazing amount though.
@ thanks Wayne. Look forward to the vlog.
down to earth guy, cheers
Thanks buddy 🙏

Nice one Hansie! I hope your doing well buddy!
A very heartfelt vlog from a stunning location. I think Xmas time brings reflection, another year ending. How about the 10 (or more) things you've gained mate? Glad you're not going down the road of a rug🤣
🤣🤣 Cheers mate! Maybe I’ll do a few more 10 things vlogs and thoughts .
Have a nice day in winter season 🤗😊🫰❤️🙂🫶🩷🎊🎉🇹🇭
Thank you 🙏. Yes, nice a cool now. I love winter 🇹🇭
Is that Payao province?
oh!! that its ...this is my home....really
Yes 😊
Yes, it’s Phayao. I love Phayao 🙏
@WalkAboutWayne you ever go the bar area opposite the big Lotus store? Was there couple of weeks ago, a good night was had, no foreigners there.
Thailand did you good Wayne.
Yes, it really did 👍
It’s a privilege to get older Wayne , you look good for your age anyway lol
Yes, I do prefer being wiser. Thank you Lin 👍
Wiser
👍👍
Very Introspective
Thanks 🙏
You are mature, not old, mate! All a part of life's lessons, on the bumpy road to becoming a true adult. Some people embrace them earlier/later than others - no big deal, everyone is different.
Ofc, some people are stubborn & never grow up - becming the karens & old, bitter, ever-angry keyboard warriors of social media... lol. :)
In any case, glad you are enjoying the life of freedom from (fill in the blank).
Nice one Michael. Hmmm fill in the blank
Post some videos of you dj ing Wayne 😀
Don't have many videos mate, some pictures on my instagram though and hundreds more pictures I can put up.
Not coffee ☕☕☕!
You know me Alan, never mention it.
Nice one Dan! I will be in and around CM in the coming days but i have a few more videos i have to do out of town. I'll be around though mate.
@ sounds good my man
my question is the single easy life you have in thailand sounds great, but would you still be as happy without youtube to keep your mind occupied.
i think that main goal in life is being happy and keeping your mind occupied.
without that drink and drugs are waiting
Sure, I've said on vlogs before that UA-cam has helped me stay in Thailand. But that's life, right? Everyone has to have something to be occupied, like you mentioned. You're right about keeping occupied. I will add, I'd already been a changed man back home for some years though and I didn't have UA-cam. But I agree, you need something and it's easy to fall back to old habits. Cheers.
Do , dont dream , correct mate ... covid woke a lot of people up ... including myself .... 👍
Yes mate, I don’t let myself dream to much these days. Just do it. Cheers buddy
When you are under 30, you want to have a large group of cool friends and be part of some "in-crowd". As you get older, you realize that lifestyle is somewhat of an illusion and a small number of good friends is enough. Everyone else just comes and goes.
That’s so true, nothing really matters once you get to that certain age.
Liked นะ..

🤗
🙏🙏
Am surprised you can live in Thailand with what income? Do you have a pension? I would love to know. I'm working my a** off for my retirement with little stress... 😮
... jealous jellyfish?
Surprised? Why surprised? Thousands of westerners live in Thailand. I’m just the same as anyone buddy, I worked my ass off the same. No magic about being here, just graft and having a few income streams 👍
So Wayne , you don’t even have a Leo , with a Pad Kapow Ty Dow ,
Peter ,
I’ll have a sneaky Leo sometimes mate 🤣
Nice guy Wayne eh. Like your honesty on life. Good luck geezer from a real old man your still young my son .
Cheers buddy!

😂 Yeah...of all vah fings you DIDN'T give up...what's the one fing you couldn't do without? You know...yeah...vat one fing you just weren't willing to adjust. 😂
That's easy, the one thing I can't go without is Kebabs.
Really??? Nice! Where are you eating good kebabs in Thailand?
Rubbish
Bollocks you loved it and watched till the end.
Me again buddy. I know where you’re coming from. Reading between the lines it’s not just a case of growing out of it because of time and change. I’m a bit older than you so I speak with some degree of experience. It’s also a case of, I need to stop this so I can wake up tomorrow…. Get my drift ?
You did the right thing to save yourself and your mind
I trust you understand 🙏🙏
Nice one mate! Yes, i did the right thing, i enjoy being old now 🤣
GOOD MAN
Cheers 🍻
