If an old pen doesn't write you can sometimes get it going with heat applied to the area of the ball point. You can use a lighter, but be careful not to over heat things . It has worked for me plenty of times.
The thing you said about the springs is something that I totally agree with. I think that is the reason people go after vintage pens. Pens made 50-60 years ago were much more durable than pens made these days. I bought a vintage Parker and it looked much better than a Parker I bought 3 years ago. Great video once again. I enjoyed it a lot. 👍🏻👏🏻
The Paper Mate Profile is a wonderful pen, and I have owned many of them over the years of my collecting. Finding working refills can be a little tricky, though there is a company that makes one that fits (the name escapes me at the moment). They came in all kinds of colors and designs, and I like collecting them with matching mechanical pencils. Not as versatile as a Jotter because of all the refill options. But vintage Jotters and Profiles are terrific pens for collecting and daily use. Despite the skinny barrel, I find the Profile more comfortable to use than the slippery Jotters.
Great looking pen lot with a bunch of interesting pieces. I have a soft spot for Parker Jotters and especially Paper Mate Two Hearts, but I like the Pelican examples in this lot, too. Fun!
That white Pelikan is extra cool due to its design history - Look at the clip side on and the body looks like the bill of a pelican, especially with the drilled hole to represent the bird's eye. That's beautifully intentional. ❤️
I always have fun watching your pen lots in particular. I frequent eBay for lots and have gotten lucky a couple times. I've had good success removing branding from stainless steel pens with a Magic Eraser and alcohol rub but it takes a good amount of elbow grease, but branding bothers me more than it should. You mentioned fixing the Fisher with some epoxy, I'd be really interested in seeing that process actually. I've never worked with epoxy and usually resort to super glue. Super glue can go wrong very quick and I doubt its suitable for most repairs. Thanks for sharing.
That Cross sounded like Hoechst. It was a German chemical/pharmaceutical company. I believe they are now defunct as they merged into another company. My mom still loves her Cross. She has a few. Carries them daily. I like the Classic Century but that’s about it.
4:30 ... I remember the HARO BRAND as a nice Fountain pen , selling for $80 - $150 usd As a pen I'd say $3-4..defective retractable makes it 25 cents. 5:39 ..we use to buy up the Rotring Professional Drawing Fountain Pen sets..$30 cad. Love these Rotring fountain pens...still have mine after 25 yrs. Never worked with a retractable pen though. 24:23..that Fisher AG7 sells for about $25 cad new I like this video...I am learning alot about one of my hobbies (collecting pens, Ballpoint, rollerball, fountain, gel, felttip etc. )
The Koh-i-Noor is a 5851. Probably from the seventies. Somewhat collectible. Goes for around $10-25. I don't believe there was any official connection with Parker. Because I never see it listed in Parker catalogs. I've always assumed it was just "Parkerski", one of many Eastern European Parker rip-offs. Koh-i-Noor is a company better know for art supplies. Especially charcoal, pastels, pencils and so on. They currently make an automatic pencil (the 5608) that shares some of the design language with the 5851, especially that smaller plastic grip section. I don't believe Koh-i-noor currently makes any pens.
Looks like a European lot surely! I've got many of these including a few gold Papermates, a similar Diplomat and I've got a white Pelican Colani (it's the designers name) that is like new, museum quality for sure! Parkers generally are very plentiful here at markets in the UK and despite having lots, I still always look for the older ones that are made in England which tend to be higher quality than the French ones. Great knowledge and insight on your part as usual.
The parker 75..I have two, one made in usa, the other in france. Yours looks like one I lost in 1986, either in Dallas, or Honolulu. Same little dent in the same area of grip due to closing a desk drawer or briefcade too quickly. Have had for 30 years. Still love them. Same with my 10k gold fill cross, and a 14k gold fill. Good video, love to see older pens apptreciated.
Papermate 'powerpoint' refills had a mechanism that would pump pressure into the cartridge so it would write upside down. I believe it was to compete against the Fisher Space pen at the time. When you push the blue end cap of the cartridge you will see it goes down a bit. This also resulted is a cushioning of the tip of the pen when writing. Papermate 'Powerpoint' = Boomer-Pen Also, I think that beautiful sterling silver Parker might be a Classic and not a 75.
Can you make a video on Rarest pens? I mean maybe discontinued good looking pens and unique styles etc. And what's the rarest Parker ballpoint pen model. Is it the 75 you showed in this video?
You havnt had any luck disassembling rOtring Jazz's have you? If I can see the plastic part that fails I might be able to make replacement parts at work.
25:31 If the two press fit parts spin, you can use Loctite, either the 262 red which you may have or can purchase in small cheap bottles in every hardware store anywhere, or #648 and others meant for bearing retaining
It is true that personalisation lowers the value of the pen but I would still buy one because I like pen has it's unique history. Especially if it's some more antique pen. Also, I would guess that Czechoslovakia on that KOH-I-NOOR pen means Czechoslovakia after fall of the communist regime in 1989 (before that I don't think they would make pens for Western company) and separation of Slovakia on 1.1.1993, so window of 1990-1992.
I feel like rOtring Jazzs don't feel like they meet the same level of quality design compared to the other rOtring models. Dont get me wrong they feel and look good, but making the entire function of the pen dependent on a fragile piece of plastic makes it less robust than many cheaper options. And yes...im salty because my Jazz doesn't work 🤣
My two favorites you have there would be the cross with a fine space pen refill and the G4 SpacePen is my favorite. That Parker you like is nice too. I’m interested in buying the G4 from you for around $20+ship if you like to sell it. I don’t own one yet or the 7 series the astronauts used. I like the slimmer looking g4 honestly
Dude I love your pen videos! Keep it up! Also, every thought of taking a look at more premium pens like Kara's Customs/Tactile Turn, etc? Maybe you already have haha
@@unsharpen oh ok. I really love your videos! I'm just getting into Rotrings myself, but it's cool to see some of those older styles and different pen history. Thanks for the vids!
That was a really nice pickup, Unsharpen. I would have also taken that gamble. Are you also into going to vintage or antique stores? I actually found some 'new in box' older UK-made Parker Jotters in one particular visit. These antique stores also sell a ton of antique mechanical pencils.
@@unsharpen Walked into an antique shop and in their pencil cup was a 50's Jotter w/ the ribbed nylon barrel. I asked what they wanted for it and the owner said "Gimme a buck", and I most certainly did!
Yea sorry if I wasn’t clear there. It’s a Paper Mate. That line, a jotter competitor, is sometimes called the double heart instead of the official name, the Profile. At least that’s my understanding.
@@unsharpen bro its got dings, had it been in mint condition then also a fair price would have been 50$ for that cisele parker alone, but not with the condition, plus all those pelikans are just crappy. Pelikan green o green k600 is a nice pelikan not these ones. PS - lobe your content, keep posting.
That's a Parker classic Cisele Sterling silver pen. Good buy!

I’ve never really heard of pen collecting until now but you sure did make a good impression on me.
Thanks!

Did you just say "Peel-a-khan"? Try Pelikan (Pel-i-cun), you know like the bird. It is after the bird, look at the logo!
Yea it’s a German company so they actually pronounce it a bit differently. I never know to go with the company pronunciation or plain English!

“Parkerski” that’s amazing. Thanks!
I loved this video. Definietly do more of these.
Koh-I-Noor is Czech Republic brand, nowadays they mostly produce art supplies.
Thanks for taking us through your review process.

The power point refill had a pressure pump in the blue bit at the end to press ink to the ball. If my memory serves me.

Thanks! Still using this one a fair bit. It writes quite well. My best vintage Parker so far.
just bought a pen lot the other day for $60 got some nice pick ups. the parker one was nice.

You might be right. Did the classic have a cisele with a knock? I’m pretty sure it had a twist ballpoint
Can you make a video on Rarest pens? I mean maybe discontinued good looking pens and unique styles etc. And what's the rarest Parker ballpoint pen model. Is it the 75 you showed in this video?
Like my rarest pens? Or rarest pens as a whole?
@@unsharpen Anything is appreciated. I would really love to see the rarest pens you have.
These lots are still my favourite videos.
Kolinoor is actually a Czech brand weirdly enough
You need to offer consult services to places like jetpens etc. you are so knowledgeable on writing instruments 🤯

Yeah that's fair, but they often laser/print it on in a terrible font, which really bothers me!
Double heart, PAPER MATE?
Koi-i-nor @ 14:30 looks great and interesting. I'm wondering if the metal finish is sandblasting?
Pretty sure that the pelikan ballpoint uses a g2 refill. At least mine does. You can also tighten the cap at the knock. Just screw it in clockwise.
Rwtüv appears to be a German investment firm. The first pen must have been owned by an employee

Do u come across any Fisher space pens?
Rarely. They are pretty recognizable so don’t make it to lots like these
I love these episodes! It's been a while....

Yes, it's interesting to see how you made out.

In my local antique store some of those pens are sold for like 2.5 each
