The sawtooth one on the right in your reduced lineup is a rake for dimple locks.

Interesting! I’ve always used basic picks when I’ve come across dimple locks that needed picked haha!
I’ll definitely have to try these out and see how it goes!

@@LockandKilo I happened to notice a couple of them in the set. I’ve never messed with them much though. I’ve got a couple sets of dimple picks and just use those to play around with at home. I don’t run into dimple locks at work. I deal exclusively with pin tumbler or wafer locks and occasionally tubular locks.

Definitely a great set for beginners, and yes we all have plenty of probes and bypass knives to prove we were there once :). Great review, thanks!

When I started out I had home-made picks, so for me picks are picks unless they just snap right off the bat lol

Interesting set for the money. I bought some goofy Chinese pick set that had tons of picks. But the metal was cheap trash. The picks would bend easily and stay the way they were bent. The turning tools that came with the set were similar to the ones in your set and seemed to be made of a fairly good quality of steel. Even the shutter lock tension wrench was pretty nice. So I kept the turning tools and I’ll modify the picks as needed for special situations.

Yeah, this one was sent to me to review!
As a locksmith I generally don’t use the specialty picks, so it was cool to actually get a feel for them.
This set was labeled as “Beginner to Amateur”, so I felt they were honest in their sales pitch!
The dimple picks threw me off a bit, a set this large was wild! I didn’t even notice the diamonds were both dimple picks lol
This video was a first time open, so I wanted to give as genuine a review as possible. But, to me it does feel like a beginner would get a lot of use and practice from it and get an idea of what works for them when they decide to upgrade!

@@LockandKilo It was a good review. I would have liked to see you put them to some serious use to see how the steel would hold up. Even if it was just to rake the living crap out of a half dozen different Master Locks or so. LOL!! I might need to get a set just to explore the weirdness. Haha!!

@@FriedPi-mc5yt Ya know I planned to do that and then I realized the time on this video was going long haha.
I'll definitely try and make a video using this kit in the future! I have never actually used real dimple picks on anything and some of these hooks look interesting.
If you do choose this set, remember to follow the link with the code in the description for a discount! haha!

@@LockandKilo that would be awesome to see, some of us with the locksport community don't often see that kind of thing in the wild

Hi! What you’d be looking for would be a double-sided Deadbolt or Doorknob!
If you’d like you can email me at LockandKilo@gmail and I can give you a better idea if you’d like to send photos of the door it would be on!

Hello - I'm looking to start a new career in some sort of a trade so I can work with my hands. I think becoming a locksmith might be a very good fit for me. Although I don't have any real experience with the locksmith trade - I find it very interesting. Could you offer me some advice on how I could enter this career? I live in Pennsylvania (right outside of Philadelphia) & unfortunately - I cant seem to find an official accredited hands on training program of any sort in my area - nor have I ever come across any apprenticeship opportunities. Thanks :)

Honestly, I was in the same boat. I was a carpenter originally and met a Locksmith who referred me to take a course with Penn Foster and that he hired graduates of the course at his shop.
Once I had that certification and put it on my resumé I received multiple calls back from Lock Shops I applied for. That course honestly paid for itself. I was sent out in the field week 1 where normal apprentices usually stayed inside for 30-60 days.

Surely that pick at 15:35 is a dimple pick

    • @LockandKilo

I started kind of thinking that after recording it haha
There’s so many picks in this I didn’t quite catch the curve on both Diamonds so it threw me off.
I’ve never really used specialty picks on dimple locks, so that was interesting to see how many variations exist lol

I got a disk retainer training lock with this set... but can it actually open it? When looking for disk retainer picking, I see all sorts of fancy looking tools that I don't have in this set.

To my (limited) knowledge. Nothing in this pick set is geared towards picking disc detainer locks. They require a specialist tool.
