I agree with this point of making a memory palace out of a location you've been to strengthen your memory of the time you were there, it's an amazing fringe benefit of using these techniques.

Yes! A palace collector! I love that too. Even though I have yet to use this method. I think eventually I will though.

It’s useful in different ways, even if you don’t use it for verse-by-verse memory.

All my palaces are named and I connect them in A-Z networks. A=Airport B=Baseball stadium C=Costco etc.

Thank you so much. I have question for the memory palace.
Is it OK to use the same memory palace for another chapter?
I'm trying to memorize gospel of John and succeeded chapter 1 in just 3 days. This time it was my house.
But it's hard to find another 20 locations.

Great question. The answer, unfortunately, is no. Reusing the same memory palace leads to a lot of confusion unless you're a master at memory. It's better to find and link to a new palace, and remember - it could be anything! Your favorite store, your elementary school, the house you grew up in, your friend's house...whatever. Trust me, if you really think about it, you can come up with at least 100 locations.

I think I'm gonna stick to rote memorisation 😅. Its effective and less complicated

Do what works best for you! These are definitely advanced techniques, so I wouldn’t judge the “complicated” nature of this technique by this video alone.

Josh, it really eludes me to be able to make memory palaces, I just can't get it. And what about when you have 6 or seven books, how can you bring those palaces to mind? I've got 6 books that I want for life, so I've quit memorizing, and gone strictly to reviewing. Obviously your way is better, because I can't bring up verse numbers, only chapters.

Hey Ken (or Jaqueline?), I love the fact that you want to memorize for life! At this point, I have 8 books memorized and each has its own unique palace. As I review, I’m literally walking through each room in the palace as I recite and stopping at each verse location. If you have trouble remembering the verses - and if that’s important to you - it might help to write down each location with the verse number and figure out how you plan to associate the location with the number. You can do the same with the palaces/books. Keep a list of which palaces go with which books. Does that help answer at least some of your questions?

      Thanks Josh for your answer.
I'm Ken, my Honey she also memorizes, but chapters instead of books.
I find that to retain, I have to review each book twice a week, else is starts to slip. So with 6 books I feel I'm maxed out. I have half watched your Jude video, then I got 'brain full'. I'll try that again, but I'm loathe to give up my 6.

how long did it take you to memorize James? that's 108 verses

I did it back in high school, so I don't quite remember. I think it took me 3-4 months? And then a year of constant review.
