We’ve had the same conversation for the past 4 years and every time Rolex decided to shit on everyone and release hot garbage such as 1908 that nobody wants or two tone girl sized explore.
I've been saying this for years: my ideal dive watch is a Submariner in grade 5 titanium with a blue lacquer dial and blue ceramic bezel, i.e. the Smurf in grade 5 titanium.
Purchased the same Rolex 1601 datejust blue dial as yours. Mine is from 1970. White gold fluted bezel also. I bought your Type One strap. Had mine for 2 years and love it! You inspired me to follow my dreams and purchase mine. Thanks Christian!!!
I understand your thought process but the fact that it’s the 70th anniversary of the GMT makes me think we could see a very nice GMT released this year. Of course it would be cool to see an updated Midas to compete with the VC222 release but I think we could also see an interesting submariner for its anniversary, maybe even a display case back? Also, love the Datejust. I have several pieces but the Datejusts I own are constantly in rotation because the really are so versatile and this comes from a pretty big Omega fanboy. Don’t judge me. Lol.
I think Christian is nuts. The only people checking for the old school Cellinis, Midas, are people who are into vintage. I don’t think the average consume has interest in those watches because they’re dainty. They are not in the same class as the VC 222 or the Cartier gold releases of recent year. I think he is in the minority on this one.
I forget whether or not I said this in the vid… but I meant they they ought to be highly limited. A few thousand pieces. And believe you me they would sell out!
Purple sub but just in precious metal would be cool. I remember the old commercial where they said every king has his crown, purple is the traditional color of royalty.
The Cellini MoonPhase was indeed a great one, it came at a time when....I'm not sure what to say; When the cool, hoodie, skinny jeans, tight t-shirt, casual is the new rich crowd all got on the Royal oak, nautilus, Daytona train. What happened to dress watches ALSO being cool because I love both and they can both make for complementing a different dress code. I'm not sure why people would wear the same style of attire all the time. Anyway, the Cellini Moon Phase although it had some greatness, specifically the beautifully crafted moon phase, the dial was super busy and I think if the 1908 gets a moon phase, it would be awesome and then they can further upgrade it with the addition of a calendar.
4:35 well... they did it with the pepsi (was white gold only at first) why not doing it with the sub? People would go mental for a steel blue sub,. The only reason against it, is that Tudor did it first (and this goes for a possible dark red bezel) therefore it is unlikely only for that reason
I love your passion but let’s be realistic the Midas is a no go! It will never happen. I would love it but it is a no! We will get a date just with a new dial.
I’m not sure if anyone noticed, but Rolex ran a commercial where James Spader wore, what appears to be, a Coke GMT. Unless someone played with the tint level on my TV, I think the coke might come out this year.
I always have this question regarding GMT Pepsi discontinued due to red portion of bezel being difficult to make…just to go to a Coke? 🤔 So red is difficult enough to replace the blue with black but keep the red? 🤨
I also doubt we'll see a platinum Submariner this year... but a plat Sub with an ice blue dial would be SICK. Red bezels are for Tudor. I don't see Rolex doing that.
strap matches your glasses and hair...but NOT the watch face! If it was a black dial it should work, but not blue. It also overwhelms the dial. If you rocked a more yellowish or orangish band it might go.... just my feelings bro.
I really don’t get the hate for the 1908 while in the same breath extolling the gold on gold Midas, the height of gaudy wrist wear. Each to his own, but the 1908 doesn’t deserve the hate imho.
Am I the only regular viewer noticing the following: Was there ever a single occasion when Christian, aka Theo, announced a "link in the description" and actually delivered it?
I wonder about something. Why is platinum watches more expensive than gold? It used to be because platinum was more expensive as a material. But platinum has been cheaper than gold since December 2014. So that is not the reason any more.
Rolex would never offend their customers.... ? Christian... come on... you are actually WEARING a watch that was issued in gold and later in SS... pissing off an entire subset of gold GMT buyers! ...not to mention the "tricksie" sh*t they've been accomplice to in the past 10 years.
A two line 41mm Submariner with the "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" info laser engraved on the polished edge on the case-back would be a throwback to the 5513. They NEVER do anything special to no-date Submariners. It's always the Submariner Date that gets the special colors. If anything I think the Submariner Date could get red text for some anniversary. Or a Submariner with an Oyster Flex, BUT.... knowing Rolex they will design the case only to for Oyster Flex end links, no Oyster or Jubilee 21mm bracelets will fit the case. Rolex doesn't like their watches to be mixed and matched by customers. Another option would be a titanium Submariner or a 37mm Submariner Date for women.
Rolex makes massive changes: NO! More of the same. A few micro changes perhaps? The big question is, what will the new factories make, when they come on stream? Rolex's line up looks very uniform. Shiny watches, that could have been used for a purpose, but because they are too shiny, never will be. Surely they need to start making watches with complications. Because Rolex, although their prices are going up, in watch making terms, they are just below the mid market point. True, they lead in shininess, but they aren't competing at all with ALS et al. This is a big problem. What if we go through a repeat of the 70's / 80's? Where everyone wears brash integrated watches, like Omega committed to big time?
Funny, I am not drawn into Rolex, never was although I had many opportunities including for a Comex diver… I found the titanium Yacht Master was nice but I would prefer a titanium Submariner. I shall not buy any Rolex unless it is titanium. I feel Rolex should produce each of its watch models in titanium. Precious metals have zero interest for me as excessively heavy and soft. Why have a heavy, shiny and highly scratchable watch if it could be much lighter, have a discreet finish and more resistant to scratches ?
Christian, let me help you out bro. Rolex has no clue how to design and deliver a dress watch. The 1908 is rather "meh", and I have never seen one in the Exhibition Only cases. At a minimum, it should be a perpetual calendar with syringe hands, in gold, and an Italian leather strap. Which brings me to the main point that it is irresponsible to predict what Rolex will announce in 2024 considering NONE of their watches are available at its own Boutiques, nor Bucherer, nor its network of AD's worldwide. N-O-N-E. If you saw a woman nearby who exuded sex appeal, but wouldn't even respond to you saying "hello", you would be so turned off and never try to get her attention again. This mirrors Rolex exactly!
It’s good to see you finally do a video again on your own, that I can sit down and watch & listen without 🤢🤮 . All those videos of you & that other bloke together, cracking jokes I didn’t understand and laughing every 5 seconds were off putting. Great video 🎉
@@TheoandHarris I checked out his UA-cam channel. A huge switch from watches to army boots and jeans...Something tells me he will be back on Theo & Harris soon.
Classic dress watches are not for Rolex. Cellini watches couldn't sell. Rolex leave the classic to Patek, VC, and every other brand that make classic design watches.
The Midas? Yuck!!!! Those were shitters and unwanted back in the day. 4 years ago you could find Midas Rolex for under $1500. $500 back in 2003. 70's cokehead vibes with the Midas.
I think that the 1908 is CLASS
It is but the price makes them have competition that will make it struggle to sell well.
We’ve had the same conversation for the past 4 years and every time Rolex decided to shit on everyone and release hot garbage such as 1908 that nobody wants or two tone girl sized explore.
Loving the new b-roll and filming format in general
Am I the only one who wants a white gold Pepsi on a jubilee bracelet. Would love to see that for the 70th anniversary
Long overdue.
That would be great, but even better: fuck it, do it in platinum.
Man you do an unbelievable job, not only with your video production but your entire outlook on things. Thank you.
There wasn’t a red text deep sea Christian, it was the sea dweller dude.
Yea big difference
>>Titanium Sub for the Sub's 75th anniversary.
Boring
Wouldn’t that fall under Yacht Master? 🧐

I am completely onboard with your Cellini idea! I have a rose gold dual time Cellini and I would absolutely love for some vintage inspired pieces!
Nice video. Love hearing your predictions (and great Eagles shoutout)

The way you talk about the Datejust, I can feel the deep connection there. Congratulations and best wishes to you.
The new Rolex looks absolutely stunning! 🌍✨
"Let's just take a quick 60 seconds"
Like, I'm always saying...by the time you have 60, what difference does it make if it's 120?
The expression of Christian speak of Midas looks just like my daughter telling me how she want that Elsa doll.😂
That janitor jacket looks amazing
That Jacket is complete and utter ass only looks good on 85 year old men
They should bring back the King Midas

Your datejust looks great on that strap. The small-scales on alligator is much better than the more expensive large-scale gator IMO.
Purple sub but just in precious metal would be cool. I remember the old commercial where they said every king has his crown, purple is the traditional color of royalty.
Nice Overshirt. I didnt know Christian got a job at a Jiffy Lube :)
I hope you can find your groove again, I bet it’s hard without Micheal but I really do adore this channel, keep up the good work.

No they didn't,has people are ssoooooo over Rolex and their games, I'm not playing and am taking my ball home 😂😂
I can see a Coke coming soon as well. But I've seen that commercial and Mr. Spader's watch seems to be a 16710 (Aluminum Pepsi).
where do you get your information from?
Could anyone see Rolex doing a white dial sub anytime soon?
Exactly what Tudor did with their Black Bay GMT, so a definite yes. Not to mention that Omega did the same with the Speedmaster.
2 mins of advertising - not 60 seconds. Accuracy of time probably important on a watch channel 😂
I always have this question regarding GMT Pepsi discontinued due to red portion of bezel being difficult to make…just to go to a Coke? 🤔 So red is difficult enough to replace the blue with black but keep the red? 🤨
I think it's possible the entire steel GMT range is revised in 41mm this year starting with steel only.
I also doubt we'll see a platinum Submariner this year... but a plat Sub with an ice blue dial would be SICK.
Red bezels are for Tudor. I don't see Rolex doing that.
Titanium sub?
Solid gold retro is hot RN. How about a new King Midas? VC222 killer??
2024 is the 70th Anniversary of the GMT…
Platinum Pepsi
*drool gif*
Every year I’m hoping for a Sub in rose with chocolate dial. But I guess that a platinum Sub would also be awesome.
“Hey, what’s your favorite F. Scott?”
strap matches your glasses and hair...but NOT the watch face! If it was a black dial it should work, but not blue. It also overwhelms the dial. If you rocked a more yellowish or orangish band it might go.... just my feelings bro.
Excitement over stuff no one can get, unless you want to pay twice retail the flippers will demand.
Agree 1908 is completely unremarkable and for the price... Yuck. So many better options.
Defo a right hand Sprite, Coke or black grey bezel on jubilee this year, all very easy minor wears for Rolex that will melt the Rolex following
I've seen super clone of the Pepsi that has the same ceramic bezels, maybe Rolex can ask them how they did it?
I really don’t get the hate for the 1908 while in the same breath extolling the gold on gold Midas, the height of gaudy wrist wear. Each to his own, but the 1908 doesn’t deserve the hate imho.
See I want the 1908 but almost 30k for that is....well yikes.
Amen to that
white dial sub! put me on the waitlist!
What is the exact reference of Christian's Rolex?
I have the same model 1601, blue dial, mine is from 1970.
a cookie monster would go great with that jacket.

Fantastic question

I'm going to take the field here. The "new" models will just be new colors of existing models nothing really exciting.
