I bought a bandit you will love it there that fast is unbelievable but trying to keep tires on it it's kind of hard I had mine for 3 days and they're bald already but it's a fun thing to play with and it's a ripper
when I was a kid in New Orlean's I came across my first hobby grade R/C store. Not sure what it was called, but I do remember seeing Traxxas across the entire front. They sold electric and nitro, mostly traxxas vehicles. Also had planes and helicopters, a drag strip for slot cars, a track for slot cars, and a train track that wrapped around the entire store.
It was during these 3 years living here that I also spotted my first ever Dodge Viper, it was on a rotating platform in a showroom across the city. That car got it's own show and it instantly became my favorite car. After getting some r/c catalogs I noticed HPI sold their Nitro RS4's with Viper bodies (box had them in a black and orange paint scheme). One birthday/Christmas later (bday is around thanksgiving, was able to work out a deal that I don't get anything for my bday so I could double down on Christmas) I ended up with a HPI Nitro RS4 2 with the porsche body. I had to order the viper body separately since they were out of the kits that included them.
I may have gotten out of the hobby for over 12 years, but I recently got back. I still have my original hpi nitro rs4 2, fully upgraded at all. I don't think there's a stock part remaining on this car, but I've had this for over 20 years. Full of parts from HPI, Robinson Racing, MIP, and it has a unused Traxxas 3.3 motor that I had bought when they first released.
Wow! Don't ever sell that thing! I wish I kept my first car. It was a nitro 4tec 2.5r with a viper body! I wish I had that amount of control when I was younger to pass up on birthday to double down on Christmas. Love the story, thanks for sharing.
On a side note, there is a hobby shop in shreveport that is exactly how you are describing it, and the owner drives a real dodge viper to work..... hahaha!

Hi Mark nice video, just one question why did Traxxas not do an electric Jato that had some engineering in it for design wise but was never developed any further in regards to strengh, electric, and a bigger version eg... 1/5 scale ??? Do Traxxas have something in mind ?.

Still loving my Traxxas XO-1 still extremely fast, I bought it when it first came out. I will never sale it, the price actually went up on it.
What? They were $1100 when they first came out. Now it’s $800 and you can get them for less.
@@KTMcaptain No they where actually $650 when they first came out this is when I brought mine. You can get one brand new for around $750.00 to $799.00 My XO-1 still looks new, I didn't destroy it like some people running it into a wall, it's a very fast car out the box. I believe in the next 10 to 20 years it will go up in prices especially if you have one in pristine condition.

@Mark Santa Maria Quick question. In your honest opinion would you rather have the Tekno NB48 8th scale or the Mugen MBX8 for serious racing? Im just curious to see what your opinion is? Now I know both these cars are great racers im just up in the air between which one to actually select.
Do they still offer the limited Black / murder out Revo .2 1/10 scale? If so, I order one or do you need to go to the store to buy it?
Yeah I live 7 miles from that store. Went in there Thursday and got two of there drones. HobbyTown off I75 only had one and I needed two. It was my first time in there it was kind of sensory overload.

I was “out of space” at one point but ordered the xmaxx and erevo 2.0 at the same time!
Since then I’ve gotten four more 1/5 scalers 😉. You start getting creative about storage when you want them bad enough!

I have the RPM rod ends up on my traxxas Rustler 4x4 vxl, and am wanting to get gtr shocks but I doubt they'll be able to clear them.

That was cool, I had no idea that was a thing. I’m glad to see they had some nitro stuff on the shelf but I wish there was more to choose from. Hobby shops here in Phoenix don’t have any nitro stuff at all, kinda sad.
There used to be a huge race at the Fear Farm in phoenix call The Dirt Nitro Challenge. There was a hobbyshop really close that had some good stuff.

P.S. You do absolutely need to get a UDR! They are so sweet. Two things are a must. RPM or aluminum trailing arms and steel or aluminum front driveshaft.

@@MarkSantaMaria Lol. I gotcha. I just ordered two bind and drive Super Baja Rey's. One for me and the other for my brother. On sale on Horizon Hobbies and AMain. I currently have the Super Rock Rey in my collection and the Super Baja Rey is nearly identical. It's running at a jaw dropping $499 for the BND currently. That's a price I can't pass on as it is a $700 RC when not on sale. Too bad it wasn't the SRR that was that price, I'd get my bro one of those rather than the Baja, but I am 100% sure he will like the Super Baja Rey. Another very good RC.
