Great vide. I do remember selling 4techs I think right before the Tmaxx came out. there was the Nitro Hawk (think Street Hawk and Nitro Buggy. then the nitro sport. Then nitro Rustler, and Nitro Stampede and they went with the new TRX15. Rustler/Stampede and Bandit were still mechanical Speed controls and transitioning over to electric when I Started working at Hobby Shack in 1998. 4tech. Remember when T-maxxs came in tons of people bought them. no one knew how to tune them. or fix them. and always wanted to spend tons of money on shiny parts.
Been Building and Bashing since I was a kid in the 80s and 90s!! Came along way from the Radio Shack day...😄
All Traxxas needs now is a Scale Lowrider! Either a 50s style Bomb, or a Mini Truck Style.....no one could stand a chance!!!!!
Forgot to mention in the early 90s, they made an on road truck that was rolled put during the same time when the Bandit and Rustled was released. I believe it was called Spirit

i didnt really get into rc until about 2013. i am still blown away with the power and speed you get with lipo and brushless motors. i didnt know about the little drone and chopper
I picked up my rc habit/addiction during the pandemic. The Bigfoot got me hooked!

Love my trx4 sport. Bought it at the traxxas store here in North Texas. Truly and amazing place
In the mid-late 90's my neighbor got a Bandit and I've been hooked since.
Traxxas isn't my favorite manufacturer but they have done alot for the hobby and making it affordable for beginners..
Epic video. Traxxas rules👍 my first gen Slash & E-Maxx testify. And now we got the next sensation! TRX4! A pure technical marvel. I bought a Chevrolet K5 BLAZER and its an ANIMAL!👹

I had my first rc in the 80s but don't think it was a TRAXXAS. I didn't stay in the hobby and found it again in 2015 with the Traxxas bandit I got from a co worker and haven't looked back since then i have had two rustlers and a jlb cheetah21101 and 3 drones Good times

I LOVED this!! You did such a great job putting this together- very well done! I didn't get started with Traxxas till the first edition of the Emaxx- I was unaware of anything Traxxas before that time period so it was interesting to see the early part of Traxxas. They sure do rule the bashing world- although I think Arrma is pushing to take the segment. I do have a question, how did you get all that old footage of Traxxas vehicles? That was sweet. At the end of the video in the credits you mention that you were able to pull this footage off of You Tube, but how did you do that?

Traxxas was my first hobby grade but the best part about Traxxas is you can build one without using a single Traxxas part.

I believe you have the Hawk out of order, it should have came out in the 90's after the TRX-T Eagle and Blue Eagle trucks. So closer to 1992.
God I wanted the Blue Eagle soooo bad. Never got it 😪
As a 90s kid I remember Traxxas being junk. Now they have risen to the top. Amazing story to see unfold
They are nowhere near the top as far as quality or performance

Very sad that I sold my original edition Traxxas bandit along with my batch 1 T-Maxx in college, but I have a XMXX and UDR now so life is okay! 😂👍

Hey you forgot about a couple other boats like the nitro vee and the blast not to mention the bandit the wrestler and even that fit scale monster they had called the monster buggy that was a quick production run
I don't dislike traxxas cars, but the way they operate is messed up, take an existing part that's been around a long time, take out a patent on the existing part, then claim to have invented it and go after other companies using design. They get away with things they couldn't if they weren't in texas.

Bought a Graupner Victra back in the 90's, which was actually a Traxxas Nitro Buggy. It had a fragile Image 1,7cc engine, Graupner electronics and an amazing chassis layout. The Image was replaced with a Traxxas engine. Some years later i bought an original Traxxas version, which has Traxxas electronics and engine. That one is still new and has never been used.
Ran the Graupner version on a dirt racetrack once in a while and it seems to feel at home. It even impressed the 1/10 scale electric drivers ("how is this so lightweight?"). It's like the Nitro Buggy is made for a racing class that didn't exsist, or they wanted to create such a class. In fact, it looks like Traxxas' modern answer to the RC10, be it with a nitro engine and 10 years later (got to get me an RC10 one of these days).
The nascar truck, was it ever released for the public to buy ?
Yes it was released you can still find them on eBay today in 2022

traxxas is ok but arrma is the up and coming king,my 8 year old granite brushless castle setup has yet to break 1 single part

I remember they promoted the Bullet by claiming that it beat a bunch of RC10s and Ultimas in a race.
I still have two of the Bullets. One I raced & occasionally won a few races & another I built but never raced. Still like new! Probably give it to the grandkids one day.
My parents got me a stampede kit not knowing it needed a motor and transmitter. Took a month or two until I got the electronics. I still played with it pushing it off jumps. I was hooked on traxxas after I got electronics. Still a loyal Traxxas customer. Keep it up Traxxas.
You should try other brands when you get another rc
I have had lots of other brands but traxxas is my favourite. They take a beating. Traxxas forever !!!
My dad brought me home a tamiya wild one in the late 80s. Got me hooked I'm 40 now and have a old Traxxas rustler 2wd . My 3 boys have brushed hsp cars so they can practice, there now ready for brushless and I'm getting them Traxxas bandits on 2s. Passing on the rc tradition.

Awesome video, makes me proud to say I only own traxxas. (4-tec 2.0 GT, 4s Maxx, bandit brushed, Full aluminum Rustler 2wd VXL shelf king)
I still have my TRX-3 and Monster Buggy, might research that beast. Had an LS-II (still have the body in box art graphics) and also the NitroHawk (what nightmare to run that was).
Interesting video, shame they didn’t keep a top line racing buggy. But buggy racing on the whole died back during the mid 90’s.
I still race a TRx3 in vintage events today.
Good equipment on the mechanical side and when it comes to the availability of parts.
Traxxas electronics are unfortunately the cheapest crap. I guarantee you that you will exchange the ESC for warranty.
Support are very nasty people, they will only help you with what is written in the manual.
I do not recommend this company. They only make money on history.
It is much better to buy an Arrma model.
If you don't believe me, write down this comment. You will come back to write that I was right.

Good video. You mentioned one of my friends in the video, but they spelled his name wrong in the racing results all those years ago, we used to always joke with him about it. It's John Walters. I used to also race a Traxxas TRX-1 and Blue Eagle LS. They were competitive cars with just a couple of modifications, compared to other brands needing many mods to compete. It's a shame that Traxxas has abandoned the racing market.

Great video! It needs a new chapter now. One that includes the copyright lawsuit they brought against WB for their name "HBO Max" infringing on their ip "X Maxx" and serving cease and desists to people making hop ups for their trucks.
No other rc company can't compete with traxxas. NO RC COMPANY CAN'T COMPETE THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE

Sorry Traxxas. But HPI out performed you in every aspect. Especially durability. Don't get me wrong, I love Traxxas rc cars. But HPI had you guys beat for the longest time.
I remember my first traxxas RC was the nitro hawk in the mid 90's I was a kyosho guy prior to that. I just bought my son his first RC car for his birthday this coming Monday a traxxas rigid unlimited desert racer. Traxxas are the best RC cars around. Thanks for the video.

I have driven the trx1 on a track in 1995 it drove really good. I had a couple of traxxas myself the bandit from 2001 and know I have a bandit vxl on 2s
I beat the heck out my X-Maxx trucks and they keep coming for more
We don't hate Traxxas as a brand. We hate those who drive them as they never seem able to repair their cars themselves.
They buy overpriced ready to runs. Run it on a track. Crash it because these things are not meant for racing. And have them repaired by others as they themselves have never touched any tools. They never learned any skills. Not in building. Not in proper driving/racing. And the toys end up on landfill as disposable. You simply dont bond with your rc car if you havent build it yourself.
Traxxas generally ends up being hated by a fairly large percentage of hobbyists. Why? Just look at their recent actions in the market. Picking on the little players. Traxxas will never see another red cent from me!
You can clearly see that all 80's and 90's cars are gebrands from Tamiya and Team Associated.
The first own designs beginning from the year 2000 / 2005 and lather and all this cars have after so many years still the same problems with the diffs , shafts and shocks how is it possible 🥴
Traxxas was very prevalent in the early 90s. Back then if you had a shop sticking the parts it was an obvious choice. That being said I dislike the way they operate as a company now. Still make a banger here n there but with less stores sticking parts there’s no real advantage anymore imho

the very first Traxxas was a copy of a Nikko f10 called the Traxxas cat even then Traxxas was copying other designs and they still do it today these videos really don't show the real Traxxas at all just another pm stunt
The nitro 4-tec was my second but first road car belt driven all-wheel drive to speed transmission 70 mph I loved it but I still had my first truck the Clood buster now it's scale crawlers But I love it all 💪💪💪
Traxxas is my favorite hobby grade RC brand. I love my mini slash, and I’m currently turning it into a high speed vehicle.

I have a 1993 Team Associated RC10T best Rc Associated Electrics ever made.
I definitely have more respect for traxxas now. My first rc car was a used revo that was a nightmare.

Yeah it takes a while to make the mini RC documentaries. The hardest part is finding the old videos and pictures.

The original Stampede had smaller wheel bearings and different offsets on the front and rear wheels. I had one and put the front and rear knuckles and wheels from a Hawk 2 on it to be able to use the larger bearings and standard offset wheels on all 4 corners.

I remember the TRX-1 was representative of the “graphite revolution”. It started when many RC10 owners upgraded their stock chassis to aftermarket graphite replacements. Then Losi released the first car with a stock graphite chassis - the JRX2. Then Traxxas and other manufacturers followed in Lodi’s footsteps.

The xmaxx was not trx biggest vehicle. The xmaxx IS the BEST RC VEHICLE EVER MADE.
My dad still has his 2002 stampedes that I have 2 of running and the other for parts. We have a lot of other traxxas old vehicles too like the first

I raced my Blue Eagle LS against RC-10t's and JrXT's in the early 90's and did pretty well... I think it is a shame that Traxxas abandoned racing, although the Slash class brought tons of new people in. I could do without the brand-new Slash 4x4's flying all over the track during practice though...
