Thanks Squarebody Stuff! and the best thing about it.... it's sold on the shelf here so I don't have to worry about shipping and getting backordered. Need another one... hop into town and get it.
Awesome job! I've always been leery of tank liners, did a 69 Roadrunner tank back in the 80's and after a couple years it came loose and turned into a mess, I think maybe modern products are probably better nowadays, I can't remember what brand I used, it was light yellow looking, but they've came a long way with products since back then, and my prep work wasn't as good as what you've done! hopefully you will have good luck with it!
Thanks Mitch! Oh yeah, this is not my 1st choice for sure, but with everything getting backordered on me + the price of a new one.... it would be just my luck that I would pay for it and have to wait until December to get it.... lol. So we'll give this a go and hope...... lol.
I got a white shirt just like tht Bare Rose!! I wrote AC⚡DC on one side...It says Bare Rose Garage 68' Mercury on the other side!! No kidding Man!! This is an Awesome channel!! Great work my friend!!
Wow! That totally blows me away man! And very fitting! Great Series Kim! this is the kinda thing one needs to know especially when you're working with a tank that's expensive or almost impossible to replace!
@@BareRoseGarage well I'm thinking that if i had went through THIS process rather than swishing the tank in my 56 F100 with just mineral spirits and a chain with and acetone rinse.... I probably would have gotten BETTER results. Oh well.... I learned how to do it right, now!
Great video BareRose, i sure hope after all the different processes that you have gone through that this comes out great for you. I was just thinking there at the end, i wonder how much a brand new one would be and then you mentioned it. I think i would go with your way to man, Science.. ;o) Thanks a lot..
Thanks Robbie. Yeah it's kind of funny, the night I bought this car the 1st thing I looked up was a new tank because I knew what I was in for, and the only ones I could find where close to $800 (with shipping and everything - that one was complete with sender, straps etc etc everything), and all the others where on backorder. So I opted for this route..... the day I shot that I looked it up one last time, and Rock Auto had 1 in stock for around 400 (with shipping). But my luck with ordering stuff in and getting taken for a ride as it goes on backorder.... I think I'm better off if I'm going to make it to Sikeston in September.
I did the same process this winter,up here on the west coast of Canada. Acetone wasn’t a option. I stuck my heat gun in one end and dried it very well .
I've heard of that stuff, but I'd have to order it in, and I' getting gun shy about ordering stuff. I've been put on back-order and lost far too much time waiting for the delivery man. So I opted to try this stuff again simply because I could get my hands on it right here and now. But I'll definitely take note of that, and thanks man!
I've used red kote several times through the years, and always had good luck with it.

Nice! You have too much fun doing this!
Just a little bit..... lol
Another useful and interesting video my friend!👍👍👍
Thanks Mr Will..... hopefully it all works... lol
This is a load of work! But I am sure it will be well worth it in the end. Keep at it
It sure is, but all in all it's kind of fun if you look at it in the right light...... and thanks Daniel
Right on BareRose!!! Man you did a total complete on this fuel tank!! Thts Awesome stuff man!!
Thanks Ron, now for the waiting game.... lol. Takes a few days in the sun to cure it completely.
@@BareRoseGarage Right on BareRose!!!😃
👍That Red Kote is good stuff but like you said prep prep prep. Nice job!
Thanks Tony! It did really good on my old 72 Triumph Bonneville years ago, but this the 1st time I've done it on this scale.

Thanks Oly. Like I said in the begining it's no replacement for a new tank, but in some cases it's about all you can do.

Thanks for stopping by Brad & way cool man! yeah as long as you get it all the way dry you are good to go!
Ospho is the best in my opinion

great video and hope it works for u
Thanks Auto Salvage
If you had asked you could have used a torch to heat it up. At least you didn't take a chance and just put it back on👍.
lol... with this 100 degree weather, it gets that tank almost too hot to hold as it is.... lol
I'm using a solar powered torch for say.... lol.
@@BareRoseGarage it's more like late fall here. The trees have been dropping leaves for the past month and a half. This is not normal.
@@lynnrunningdeer7364 where you at again? because that is weird
@@BareRoseGarage east coast but not by choice. However apparently we're being better than the rest of the country. No heatwaves nor on fire.
