Very nice looking grill and design, can you please give me the pros and cons of the hestan grill 42 inch, i have been looking at this grill for a while but i haven’t make my mind yet.
would the aspire's ceramic briquette tray fit in the original hestan grill? assuming both are 36 inch? I love the hestan original, but am concerned about the flat ceramic briquette tray -- sounds like it will be a set up for flare ups
Have a question since you have so much experience searing on infrared burners. I have a Hestan 42 with an infrared burner and searing stakes at high or even med-high I often get lots of flare ups (especially with ribeyes). I always heard that flares up should burn away fast on an infrared burner. Am I doing something wrong? Should I cook with lower heat, should I clean the burner a bit more somehow? Thanks for any tips you can offer.
Purchased the 36” along with the power burner and fridge for my outdoor space. Starting construction in a few weeks. Can’t wait to get it in and cook some steaks! Great video and review! Maybe you should have a store in Vegas?!?
@@aaronolsen8787 I use the grill a lot (3 days per week on avg) and it has performed awesome. I haven’t found any cons - I love the Ceramic grates that flip to clean and I’m really enjoying the actual cooking grates. It’s super expensive, but I never plan on purchasing another grill.
my wife and I are in the market for a new grill and not afraid to spend the money for top of the line, assuming it's worth it. This is how I landed on your youtube channels - so much great information, bravo! My question is with your rave reviews on grills like the True Flame, IS this Hestan actually worth the added costs? I've also read some reviews stating those ceramic briquettes can get quite a bit of grease built up and flame ups are difficult to control. Seems like you have one at your home, plus I'm guessing you grill a ton, so has it been much of a problem for you? Anything else you might add or other grill suggestions? Thanks so much!
Interested in this grill for our new outdoor kitchen. I assume there is no griddle replacement for the grates. I am looking for something that can serve as both, as our outdoor area will not be large enough for both grill and griddle and my RecTeq 1250.
this is very nice grill i noticed you had a whole install team to help put it together. too bad its so expensive i cant see me paying that much for a grill.
I’ve no doubt that this is a premium grill with some innovative features and above average workmanship, but I’m not seeing four to five thousand $ improvement over a Napoleon Pro series grill such as the 500 or 625.
Some people will buy a BMW instead of a Chevy. Is there $40k improvement? Is a $50 bottle of wine twice as good as a $25 bottle? That depends on the buyer. Some see it, or Hestan would not sell any grills.
One of the things that I think that little bit of extra vertical space between the grates and the briquette layer below offers is a bit more space for the charcoal tray. Most of these nicer gas grills have a charcoal tray, but they always seem so close to the grates that I wonder how well they work, this seems like it has just a little bit more space where that might work better.
Great video! Do you think it would be good to try to make pizza on this or would it be much better to get a dedicated pizza oven? I've got a kamado so I think I'd like to supplement with quick high searing ability, pizza making ability, and the occasional burgers/sausages. I'm debating if I should just get a high end pizza oven for the sear/pizza ability. Thoughts?
I recently purchased this grill and I was disappointed with their quality control and fitment on the cart. There were screws missing and where the grill bolts down to the cart on the rear there were two different size threaded holes. There were some other nits but my biggest complaint was that the two doors on the cart only had two screws hold the hinge to the cart and there is supposed to be four. They didn't even put threaded insert where the other screw should be. Overall the grill itself was good but there was one trellis that didn't sit flat and was twisted. For $12k I expected much better quality control. I have written them but no response as of yet so customer service thus far gets an F. The boxes came stacked on on top of the other and crushed the bottom box with the grill but fortunately it didn't hurt anything. My Wife and I are 73 and it was not easy getting the boxes separated. I paid $4k for my Blaze professional a few years back and it was much better fitment and their customer service was excellent. I really liked the infrared rotisserie on the top which is why I purchased. I give the grill a "B" and the cart an "F". I try to buy American when I can which is another reason I chose Hestan but apparently California products are more similar to China than say Wisconsin or North Carolina.
I agree with the bad customer service. I also experienced the horrible wiring or trailer trash engineering that for me, caught on fire and melted and burnt up the unprotected wiring. I can ONLY think, with all the it's just a matter of time before these grills burns up. There isn't any protection for the wires between the front panel and the fire box. wires are 1/2 inch from cooking area. I only used my grill 10 to 15 times and the ignition stopped working. Took the panel off and seen chard wires. the plastic melted and dripped to the gas line and simply started a fire in the front panel. Heston put ZERO thought into protecting these wires. Completely drooped the ball with the wiring..
I'm getting ready to finalize my selection of the Hestan, but I've been seeing reports of hot spots. Have you seen this? The "bread test" done by Amazing Ribs made it look pretty bad.

I am replacing my 20 year old TEC patio II that had the original infrared ceramic plates and did have flareups but they were never really an issue. As mentioned the new tech grills have the glass plate directly under the grates so you won’t get any flareups. However I’m wondering with the new tech grills and the glass plates, is it really still grilling? I’m torn since the OG TEC lasted for so long. Hmmm, maybe I should just rebuild all the insides and reset the clock! New grill input welcomed! 😁
@@DFenech The glass plates prevent air movement (convection currents) and are mostly transparent to infrared radiation. Burners below the plates, emit heat energy, which is transmitted through the glass. As a comparison, lit charcoal also emits heavily in infrared and is not moving a lot of air. Standard bunsen style partially aerated burners, like those of conventional gas grills, or your gas cooktop, typically have drip shields or ceramic briquettes arrayed above burner, which absorb heat from burner flame, and then re-radiate in the infrared spectrum. Technically, the TEC glass plate infrared burners would be the most advanced grilling technology available, but I have never cooked on them. Borosilicate glass is expensive, and it should last forever as it is fairly robust and shock resistant. Your old TEC is a different technology, still emits in infrared, has a lower turn down ratio, and higher potential for flareups.

Hestan, Lynx, Alfresco, DCS, Napoleon. How do you rank these brands? The one unique thing I liked about Alfresco is the small built in smoker box.... do any other brands have that?
no but everyone sells accessories for that. The hestan is by far the best grill, but Alfresco is great too. Out of those, you actually listed them in the order of luxury haha. So you have it down already
@@embersliving thank you for your reply. What about the gap between the ceramic brickets? This leaves a gap in heat distribution no? I have a similar gap in my current bbq, and basically that area just cooks slower. Is it the same case here?
@@nathanevers1148 By top burner do you mean the rotisserie burner that can also be used as a broiler/salamander? I have not tried that, but I find the heat of the regular burners is sufficient for searing steaks, at least as I'm used to grilling them
@@jasonstanis514 A little bit with fatty cuts, but nothing unmanageable for my purposes since I don't use the whole grill surface area at one time and can move things around while the flare-ups subside. But the combination briquet/stainless steel apparatus underneath the grill surface is more susceptible to flare-ups than the simpler stainless steel bars I had experience with on my prior Weber and Napoleon grills. I think this in part because of its larger surface area and it doesn't allow grease to run off the way those angled bars probably do
@@jasonstanis514 I don't flip them very often. Certainly everything has long been burnt off the bottom side by the time I do. I actually have found more flare ups immediately after a flip rather than when I have left them unflipped for a while. This was consistent with how I found more flare ups when I very first got the grill when everything was at its cleanest. I really don't know why this pattern should be, but that has been my experience. I probably only flip them 3 times a year at most and I grill every week (including the dead of winter up here in Canada)
Not a “Bread and butter station ” but definitely a “Money Station”😂😂. Great video and that grill is a work of art. If I order one and it smells like garlic, I’ll know why.
Nice grill but not sure how this can beat Napolean Prestige 500 RSIB. Sorry I just can't think of any even if you have all the money in the world I would go with Napolean. Thanks for the video Trevor !!!
I have this grill in 42". Probably wouldn't buy it again. Rotisserie holds up to 50 lbs yet you can't go larger than a medium turkey because the overhead burner is only about 7.5 inches away from the rotisserie. The ceramic briquette trays are flat. Cool because all you have to do to clean them is turn them over and let the burners do the work. Not cool is being flat they are very prone to flame ups. Burgers can be quite the challenge. Also, the briquette trays are prone to some warping and the heating is not very even. It is built like a brick shit house, it's just not designed very well.
It depends on your personal cooking style and preferences, but having used both (sear burner in the grill and as a side station) I strongly prefer having it in the grill. I find it much easier to attend to everything if it's all in the grill, and the first time you drop a $50 porterhouse going from the side station sear burner to the grill, you'll wish it was in the grill! For me, a 42" gives plenty of room even if I completely disregard the space occupied by the sear burner.
When is someone going to do an actual grill review. A video looking at the grill and talking about features is not a review. Need a review of how it cooks. How hot does the rotisserie burner get to sear steaks under it? How even is the heat? What are the flare ups like?
All in good time Nathan. If we cooked on every grill we reviewed we would have 100’s of used grills. So logistically it isn’t possible. But more cook videos are coming
It wasn’t actually. Not even close. This grill on a cart is over $10,000. The new Weber is in the $3,000 range. If you’re shopping for a brand like hestan, the word Weber should never be spoken of ha.
Their service stinks. And for an expensive, luxury product there are a surprising number of serious design defects. It's taken Hestan over 9 months to get my grill repaired on warranty, with them making me pay the labor for their problems! I'm not been happy with my purchase.
That pull cart made me laugh, but I totally agree that cart it is on is nice. I don't know about the price, but if someone gifted me one, I'd be happy. (Just incase a millionaire or billionaire is reading this 😅)

I buy everything based on reviews. Some said this was hard to put together ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt some guy said 2 hours and 2 beers later. I didn't drink beer like I was going to. I didn't feel like going to the store. I'm assuming I would have had at least 3. I took my time. Stepped outside for a cigarette break a couple times but all in all it was about a 3 hour project for me but it wasn't like it was difficult or anything . Only pictures but everything is pretty organized and labeled although I didn't see any #s on the actual pieces like it shows in the diagrams. Only the screws were labeled. On the cardboard part of the packaging on the back side. I put it together in my living room too. It wasn't supposed to rain today but it's Michigan and I couldn't wait so I put it together in my living room. Without beer but beer would definitely have made it more fun that's for sure. I'm giving this a 5 for easy assembly. I'll update after it stops raining when I can take it out of my living room and cook some food on it. Hope this helps at least for people who think they can't put this together because I did and you can too . And there are extra screws. I got nervous and immediately came here to see if others had the same experience and they have. You're not doing it wrong. There will be extra screws. Be patient. Don't rush it. Drink beer. Happy assembling

blows it away
I really want. A hestan but unless one can delivery it in pieces it won’t fit thru my patio door.😊
oh dang it is pretty big
This is a perfect grill, unless you fire it up and use it. Then the wiring in the fron panel that does everything melts and catches fire.
What that doesnt sound right.
What’s your thoughts on a DCS 9? Those really have my attention. Please let me know
we are currently working on getting our hands on it
How are the flareups on this thing?
exceptional
@@embersliving Exceptional as in they barely happen or they burn exceptionally well?
17:55. grates are the best ive ever seen. Fold away warming is great.
hard to beat!
Got the 36" on the pull-cart with the side-burners and all trellis burners two years ago. It's outstanding.
Have you used the top burner to seat steaks? Want to know if it gets hot enough to get the crust you get at the best steak houses.
@@nathanevers1148 By top burner do you mean the rotisserie burner that can also be used as a broiler/salamander? I have not tried that, but I find the heat of the regular burners is sufficient for searing steaks, at least as I'm used to grilling them
I would second that, they regular trellis burners get hot enough, not to mention if you do the infrared
If I order one and it smells like garlic, I’ll know why.
hahaah
These grills are very high end. Not for your average person. But, very nice.
Thanks for watching!
Nice grill but not sure how this can beat Napolean Prestige 500 RSIB. Sorry I just can't think of any even if you have all the money in the world I would go with Napolean. Thanks for the video Trevor !!!
Fair enough, i know plenty of people who would agree with you! Thanks for watching!! and the great feedback, thanks!
That would be Carolina Blue! GO HEALS!
haha
I have this grill in 42". Probably wouldn't buy it again. Rotisserie holds up to 50 lbs yet you can't go larger than a medium turkey because the overhead burner is only about 7.5 inches away from the rotisserie. The ceramic briquette trays are flat. Cool because all you have to do to clean them is turn them over and let the burners do the work. Not cool is being flat they are very prone to flame ups. Burgers can be quite the challenge. Also, the briquette trays are prone to some warping and the heating is not very even. It is built like a brick shit house, it's just not designed very well.
thanks for the feedback
@@embersliving any updates or improvements on the flare/flame up issue on these? How would it compare to alfresco or lynx for this issue?
Seer station takes up the main burner space. Not a fan. Much rather prefer the side station infrared seer burner.
true, I may order this as all trellis burners
It depends on your personal cooking style and preferences, but having used both (sear burner in the grill and as a side station) I strongly prefer having it in the grill. I find it much easier to attend to everything if it's all in the grill, and the first time you drop a $50 porterhouse going from the side station sear burner to the grill, you'll wish it was in the grill! For me, a 42" gives plenty of room even if I completely disregard the space occupied by the sear burner.
Heston or hestan? Had to read that twice haha. Beautiful grill.
It’s hestan they have a full line up of products and a vineyard!
September 16th, 2021 this grill is $9838.
I want one.
We got them!
321 stainless is marine grade for coastal living.
Oh awesome good to know!
Nice grill 🔥
Appreciate it
When is someone going to do an actual grill review.
But more cook videos are coming
becuase if that actually mattered, you would buy a charcoal grill!!! Just kidding (not really).
Excellent review Thank You. By the way I hate You Tube Police ass hats as well.
ha ok
Love it
Thanks for watching!
The 2024 Weber Summit® FS38 was placed in this gas grill's price range, why purchase a Weber.
It wasn’t actually. Not even close. This grill on a cart is over $10,000. The new Weber is in the $3,000 range. If you’re shopping for a brand like hestan, the word Weber should never be spoken of ha.
Elon sure knows a lot about grills!
Its not a grill grates. Its singular due to the fact you are only speaking of the one grill. *Grill grate*
thanks for the lesson, appreciate the feedback
8.8k lol why am I watching this?
Haha fair! She is pretty though! Thanks for watching nonetheless!
Their service stinks. And for an expensive, luxury product there are a surprising number of serious design defects. It's taken Hestan over 9 months to get my grill repaired on warranty, with them making me pay the labor for their problems! I'm not been happy with my purchase.
oh boy, did you buy the product from us?
Damn shame that you used it and now someone could get it at a reduced price. Oh, I see what you did there.
haha
Sixteenth
nice
@@embersliving actually I think it should be sixteenths with an S at the end.
this guy gets tired just talking....lol
That pull cart made me laugh, but I totally agree that cart it is on is nice. I don't know about the price, but if someone gifted me one, I'd be happy. (Just incase a millionaire or billionaire is reading this 😅)
Hahaha
Dude we could give a shot less about your hair. Get to the fricken point. Deliver the doors for the 15k grill that I ordered last year maybe?
sorry
You Talk to much(Clowning around)... Just do the Review and Stop Trying to be a Comedian... I guess I’ll buy from someone else... Greg
So sorry we couldn’t keep you entertained greg. You should buy from us based on our customer service reviews. Not based on our ability to be comedians...
