    Hey my dude!
    glad to find a further channel here on youtube who shows nitro content !! Just subbed you :-)
    Nice to see the direct comparison on the same Engine between the two nitro percentages ,furthermore it meets the reality for the most nitro guys here in Europüe,I"m currently trying to optimize a LRP Z.28 spec .3 for the 16% due the new crazy regulations..What a shame!!!
    Continue your awesome work here on UA-cam !
    Regards from another nitro guy ;-)

      Thanks! I appreciate and i will check your channel too. If you remove a 0.1mm head shim the lrp 28 should run fine, hopefully we can still run 16% next year. As you said, european laws are a shame...

      @@TastyBRCThanks for your reply! That is correct,as mentioned on the instructions manual themself,the factory installed head shim must to be removed in order to get a combustion camber distance of 0,65mm ..
      However,because I was curious to find out how the engine would running on the ols stock set up (0.75mm --> with the factory included head shim ) I"ve tried this ,as expected the low end power output was awfull even with optimizing carb settings !!
      I"m currently improve some kind of basic issues that the most of the LRP big blocks have,yeah the sealing troubles of the carb and so one ..Lol
      After I finished it,I will tune the carb andtry to reach the best performance on the safe side to gain some experience with this new topic of the absolutely stupid conversion from the good old 25% to the 16% in order to gain enough experience with this topic to be able to help all the other guys out there with less experience on engines..
      "As you said, european laws are a shame..."
      A lot of modeller confendurations are right now busy trying to change this stupid regulation for us modellers..So the only thing we can do is expecting the worst and hoping the best my dude!!

      @@voneboy Tuning any big block engine with the stocks shims and 16% is not impossible, but you will lose more or less power depending on the engine, and the tuning window will be smaller, wich means tuning headache.. removing the shim makes it easier and brings back some power. The real problem is that europe wants to ban fuel with nitro content higher than 12% !!!! 12% of nitromethane weight in your fuel equals 16% of nitromethane VOLUME of your fuel mixture, only 16% nitro volume will be allowed! That is why people still belive that the actual 16% nitro fuel wont be banned.... (your actual 16% nitro fuel contains +- 21% nitro volume and the 25%= 33%..) I really hope this wont happen

    • @voneboy
      @voneboy 3 роки тому

      @@TastyBRC It"s exactly like you said,it"s possible,but with enourmeous lose of performance and I had noted how epic small the "window of tune" especially on the LSN was...
      In fact I don"t believe that this will happen ,but if this should happen I will begin to think about to move away from this EU prison!!!
      It"s in fact funny..Nitro is sooo dangerous,but hey you can order tons of Lithium polymer batteries that are in my oppinion even more dangerous..

    How did you tune up your engine for 16%? mine was always running hot and cant even hit second gear for the most part. at glow
    So I'm wondering what glow plug you're using and how did you manage to keep the temp so low and at the same time keep most of its performance?
    And btw, I'm running an engine very similar to yours, it's a sh .28.

    • @TastyBRC

      I also have an 8ports SH and even with 25% it tends to heat up more than force 32. I would say that the engines react very differently to the change of fuel, with this one the difference was not huge. I run a # 5 plug. Try to remove a 0.10mm head shim with the 16% to obtain performance very similar to the 25% and more ease of tuning

      @TastyBRC  2 роки тому +1

      @@wrc2044 I see, mine came with an extra .10mm shim, as you can see in my sh28 review video. The purpose of the head shims is to adjust the compression ratio of your engine, higher nitro content needs lower compression or the fuel will detonate too early. Lower nitro content needs higher compression or your fuel will detonate too late, causing power loss. If you have only 1 shim, you can run a hotter glow plug so fuel will detonate earlier with 16%, tuning will be easier and better idle. Wich glow plug are you running actualy ?
