My wife and I were staying with a friend and his wife in Aspen, CO, when this song came on, and stuck with me ever since. My wife's gone, the friends are gone, but this song, brings them back, and that beautiful weekend in Aspen.
My late husband and I attended a Seals & Crofts concert at the Dome outside Rochester, New York, many years ago, thanks to our friend Curt, who was the father-in-law of one of Seals & Crofts' roadies. Michael Murphey performed "Wildfire" that night at the concert. I think it was soon after the song was released. We met Michael and his wife before the show. Of course we were thrilled when we realized it was his song we had been hearing on the radio. We met Jimmy Seals and Dash Crofts after the show. What a wonderful evening and memory for a small-town couple! We were married for 60 years and still mentioned that evening throughout our time together.

I've seem MMM in concert 5 times. My darling husband has been gone 15 years tomorrow. When I listen to this song, I picture my horse riding, country music loving husband coming for me on his magic horse, Outlaw. I still have lots of living to do but when it's my turn, my husband will come on his horse to get me. ❤

Back in the 70's I worked at a stable in Southern Wisconsin and remember this song playing on a small hand held radio in the barn and fell in love with it ever since. We named one of the new colts Wildfire after this song. Many fond memories of a beautiful and simple time.
Can't deny the beauty of the song and how it was so deeply felt by each person. I fell in love listening to that song. And rode off on my horse " Sundance" through a Wheatfield in Indiana .
This live version of "Wildfire" is absolute perfection from beginning to end. Nothing that I or anyone else could say can add or detract from it's Timeless beauty.
Back in the 70’s I worked in a little downtown beer & wine bar frequented by a great variety of folks. We had one regular customer come in as soon as we opened up every day - an old guy ravaged by time and alcohol who had given in to his addiction long ago. He used to sit by himself at a little table near the jukebox every day, order a beer, and play this song over and over, singing along with it at top volume with all his heart. He never bothered anybody, and after a few beers he’d get up and walk out. I can never hear this song without thinking of this old man. He sure did love that magic horse.
I had the rare privilege and honor to serve him dinner after his concert late 1 night, here in Reno/Sparks. He is down to earth despite his f ame and fortune.......
This is by far the best version of this wonderful, beautiful song. The extended piano and Murphey's guitar totally drives home its loveliness. Murphey's intro illustrates how special the song has been to him for all of these years. Just pure musical magic here, about a magic horse.
My deceased wife loved horses, and she loved this song. We played it at her funeral. This is such a great version. Thanks MMM and company for such great work!

When I was very young, 7 or 8. I would hear this song and physically STOP- What I was doing. And CRY. It's the kinda cry, your soul feels. It lastest days.
Lost my wife of 52 years almost 4 years ago and her birthday is a few days off. The pain never stops. She rode in horse shows when she was young and I still picture as a young girl riding. This song lives in my heart. I loved her so much that for one day with her I would give anything.....
My heart aches for yours. Life goes on and you must too. My Navy ship's motto was, "Press on Regardless!" Great words that I have tried to live by. Enjoy your life.

yes...ethereal music that resides in wild grasses in the alpine..and heard in bright meltwater rivulets that cascade near camp while Whiskey Jacks come near with their dark eyes.
Thankful for my folks to show me this one. Its my favorite song now, and my music taste is only getting better with age. Im only 24... If only my friends could appreciate it like I do
My daughter said it was before her time. We ended up in an argument about some of her favorite artists and their songs being before her time and possibly mine. No respect for my trying. I believe it's deeper than music. She loses here, but she thinks she won.
@@VeraKocot don’t worry, I go through the same arguments with whoever I’m dating. Some appreciate what I show them, some see this as just a horse song. Can’t reach them all 🤷♂️
When I was a kid I loved this song so much. I would sit in the floor and just daydream about what was happening in the song. ❤ To this day it touches me.
My wife who I lost 3 years ago loved this song. She rode in horse shows and loved them. When I hear this song I see her riding as a young girl. I had her for over 50 years but this song brings the tears to my eyes as I loved her so. The courage and dignity she showed through her illness I will never forget and I hope I have the same at my end days. Thank you wildfire
Hello Robert. I lost my wife 14 months ago I had her for only 14 shorts years, was hoping to grow very old together since I lost my first wife when I was 31 back in 1984.Sorry for your loss, it sure does hurt.
Here I am on 7/15/21 and this song just popped into my head, out of nowhere. I just started singing it. Then I googled it and found this. Life is pretty cool sometimes.
I went to a Michael Murphy concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater outside Denver in 1976 or 1977. The lights were turned down when they began to play this song. I'll never forget that opening piano, under the stars on a beautiful Colorado summer night.
Red Rocks is a unique Amphitheater. The Shape of it was designed for music, and its a wonderful experience if you ever are in that area to attend a show.
Great music does not age! I still marvel at this song years later. The piano introduction is one of my favorite of all time, acoustic guitar is awesome.
This was the first Country song that I really fell for. I am black and back in those days your parents controlled the radio. Well we were on a road trip to Louisiana and dad told me to find some music. I was turning the dial and came on this song, it had just started and I was just hypnotized by it. Well I learned that there was more than R&B music!
Oh sweetie this isn't country music by any means. It was called folk music or soft rock. But as a 1970's youth I'm really glad you enjoyed it. We had a lot of great black bands and also great bands with black & white people in them. We would go to the dance clubs and we all were together black & white. One of my favorite bands was called Hot Chocolate and one of my favorite songs of theirs was called Every1's A Winner. They had a lot of great songs and they were a black & white band. All of those guys were so handsome. Google them and try to find the Video of them singing that song. I promise you'll love it. 👍
@@debbiescott6732 It is listed as Country, Soft Rock, and adult contemporary. Their were many country artists that had many "crossover" country hits and this is one of them. If you're going to try to give knowledge to someone, atleast try to be right or atleast half right! MMM has several country hits also known as crossover country hits! Educate yourself next time!
I can recall selecting this song from a juke box on a wall of a Papa Gino's pizza in Massachusetts with my mom and two sisters and now I'm the last one with that amazing memory. You are missed ladies !
Just working through a broken relationship and bought a green broke Appaloosa Stud. Worked through my sadness breaking and training him. Met my husband of 46 years one day when I was out riding one day. That horse’s name, Wildfire.
This song is Beautiful in every way!! Love Michael Martin Murphy!! The piano is so lovely and the guitar picking!! One of my all time favorites when growing up and going on trips with my family in the car!! Memories always cherished, miss you Mom, Dad and baby sis!! Prayers for All!! 🙏❤️🙏🥰
One thing that cannot be denied, the 70's singers relied on actual voice. He sound just as good live as he does recorded. No auto-tunes back then! Good job!
I was 15 years young when this classic was released...now I'm pushin' 64 and the songs of old make me feel young again if only for a precious short time.
This song, in part, is about "the Rainbow Bridge." I died and was sent back on February 5, 2022. The first thing that I remember seeing was all of my pets in a group. They recognized me, and I remember searching for specific ones and finding them all. It was seeing them that told me I was leaving this world. As this song implies, our pets are the gate keepers of heaven. God sends them to get us when it's time to go.
I feel so blessed to have grown up during the 70's and have had the opportunity to hear these beautiful and memorable songs when first played on the radio.
Patti Kelley Ha, me too! How about when you heard a song for the first time and you loved it. Then you would have to wait for it to come on again. Or when a song you loved came on the radio, you would say “turn it up”.
Michael Murphy has a beautiful voice, and perfect pitch. It soars where it needs to and is astonishing. No one mentioned that. I have listened to this song forever, and never get tired of hearing this. This is by far the best rendition of it I've heard. Thanks for the awesome music to all the 70's bands!!! Best decade ever!
Where did the real talent like this go. I’m glad that I got to live in this time period when people sang beautiful lyrics without all the nasty stuff. I don’t listen to music like I use to. I love that I can understand every word that comes out of his mouth. I love all his emotions coming through his song.
This song reminds me of my Jr High School days and going through puberty. There was a girl a year older than me that I liked. She had a unique last name (censored for privacy reasons). Recently I was a poll worker and a person came in with the same last name. We talked for a few minutes and she told me her aunt is the girl (now woman) that I liked back in 77-78. Small world.
One of the greatest masterpieces of all time …takes me back to that happy place as a kid in the 70’s with magical memories of my beautiful late Mumma, I cry my eyes out everytime I hear it now and play it on repeat often 🥹 Life’s so bittersweet and listening to this timeless beauty brings back happy memories yet it makes me sad as I miss my Mum so much. Great music and good times I cherish and am truly grateful for. Thank you Michael for the extraordinary music you’ve gifted myself and the world♥️🙏🏼🎶

This is one of those songs that just stays with you, always.
Makes you forget all the hate in the world if just for a little bit. Awesome!
That piano intro is just gorgeous
That is so sad .. 52 years .. I could not imagine that ... life can be so hard .. but you are on my prayer list brother ..
I am so sorry for your loss.
❤❤❤
So beautiful!! I am so sorry for your loss!! My husband and I have been married for 40yrs. Can't imagine losing him 💔. I am spiritual 🙏 and I believe she is still with you always ❤ We lost our oldest daughter 😢 December 23 2017 I am amazed we survived her death
Michael achieved a sound not found in today’s popular music-enchanting and soulful
yes...ethereal music that resides in wild grasses in the alpine..and heard in bright meltwater rivulets that cascade near camp while Whiskey Jacks come near with their dark eyes.
Correct. The 70,s brought forth such music wish it would surround us today what's wrong w people
Agreed
Beautifully captured on paper too Ana!
Anna
Perhaps the most beautiful song ever written. A masterpiece, thanks Michael.

Michael Martin Murphy is one fine guitar player 🎸 singer!
And this is a Great song!
Out of nowhere I started singing this awesome song from my passed. I just had to hear it. It's been awhile. Great memories.
Thankful for my folks to show me this one. Its my favorite song now, and my music taste is only getting better with age. Im only 24...
If only my friends could appreciate it like I do
Sounds like my son....it is rare & special. As well as a gift that keeps on giving! Keep on keepin on, young fellow. You guys hold the torch ❤✌
Can’t reach them all 🤷♂️
I’m 54 and this is one of those incredible songs that bring it all back.
I've been listening to this song for 30 years and it never gets old. ✌️ To all of those people that understand this classic , rock on .....
I'm one of them but we're a dying breed.
@@Flomariah Indeed we are, my friend.
Music of my young adult life. Beautiful time of my life….
One of my all time favorites, such a beautiful song I always enjoy covering. One of the smoothest grooves ever.
I can’t get enough of this beautiful song!! He’s on tour in 2023😘
Where? I wanna go!
I hope he is in Colorado
Makes me think of years ago being little ~ when life seemed so simple and pure
and the schools were segregated PRAISE JESUS!
When I was a kid I loved this song so much. I would sit in the floor and just daydream about what was happening in the song. ❤ To this day it touches me.
One of the greatest songs, ever sung.
God bless you and all your family!!!!!!!
Hello Robert. I lost my wife 14 months ago I had her for only 14 shorts years, was hoping to grow very old together since I lost my first wife when I was 31 back in 1984.Sorry for your loss, it sure does hurt.
I just cried reading this. Much love to you, man.
God bless you 💜
what a wonderful message you posted. God bless you
Here I am on 7/15/21 and this song just popped into my head, out of nowhere. I just started singing it. Then I googled it and found this. Life is pretty cool sometimes.
To whom ever put this up 🙏DONT EVER REMOVE 😭
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉! I agree!!!✌
I saved it to my phone incase it ever gets deleted. Don’t wanna lose it!
I went to a Michael Murphy concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater outside Denver in 1976 or 1977. The lights were turned down when they began to play this song. I'll never forget that opening piano, under the stars on a beautiful Colorado summer night.
nice..
My first date with my wife (of now 32 years) was at a Def Leppard concert at Red Rocks. Awesome amphitheater for sure!
Red Rocks is a unique Amphitheater. The Shape of it was designed for music, and its a wonderful experience if you ever are in that area to attend a show.
Wow how 😎
People who give this song a thumbs down 👎 don't know great music.
Agreed
Great music does not age! I still marvel at this song years later. The piano introduction is one of my favorite of all time,
acoustic guitar is awesome.
I’d forgotten how beautiful this song and instrumentals was. Ah the memories ❤
❤
@@vegaslimoguy2376 you're an Ahole. And for your information it was called soft rock back in the 1970's when we listened to it on the radio. So STFU.
I can recall selecting this song from a juke box on a wall of a Papa Gino's pizza in Massachusetts with my mom and two sisters and now I'm the last one with that amazing memory. You are missed ladies !
May God bless you friend. He gives our family as gifts.
May god also bless you. How moving brought tears to my eyes.
Just working through a broken relationship and bought a green broke Appaloosa Stud. Worked through my sadness breaking and training him. Met my husband of 46 years one day when I was out riding one day. That horse’s name, Wildfire.
There's someone for everyone, if you're open to love and give it a chance.
Just a beautiful song... I could listen to it a million times... I can almost imagine them riding off on Wildfire...
Brings you back to a time when lyrics and music were Really Good !
We are so blessed to have grown up with music like this
It soothed our souls
Still does
I remember when this song first came out. I was 9 or ten, I'm 60 now, have loved it all these years. So soothing.😢
remember when songs had powerful lyrics that were well written and you could actually sing to them? Man, I miss these days.
One thing that cannot be denied, the 70's singers relied on actual voice. He sound just as good live as he does recorded. No auto-tunes back then! Good job!
More importantly, music from 70's-80's have stories and meaning. Completely different from the trashy music today.
I was 15 years young when this classic was released...now I'm pushin' 64 and the songs of old make me feel young again if only for a precious short time.
Exactly! ❤
I was 11. Poetic song
If you can’t connect with this song , you don’t have a soul. Beautiful!!!!!!
The 70's had the best music......and this is one of them......Fantastic
I feel so blessed to have grown up during the 70's and have had the opportunity to hear these beautiful and memorable songs when first played on the radio.
Patti Kelley Ha, me too! How about when you heard a song for the first time and you loved it. Then you would have to wait for it to come on again. Or when a song you loved came on the radio, you would say “turn it up”.
Same here. Same here. This one steeps me in nostalgia.
yes indeed.
Big time.
Yes you are correct
You are so right amen ❤
One of my favorite
This song reminds me of my Jr High School days and going through puberty. There was a girl a year older than me that I liked. She had a unique last name (censored for privacy reasons). Recently I was a poll worker and a person came in with the same last name. We talked for a few minutes and she told me her aunt is the girl (now woman) that I liked back in 77-78. Small world.
❤
The piano in this song is so beautiful - the whole song - I never get tired of it.
Best version of this song ever. Piano player was awesome and the guitar solo at the end was great 😃
Agree
Yep 😄
Michael Martin murphey did a live version of wild fire years back with piano and a guitar solo reminds me of that.
Yes
Agreed! It was amazing!
I'm 65 yrs old now. I use to wish I was wildfire. It touches my heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
