- Hey guys! This is my own top 50 Nirvana riffs or even more. Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are more than 50 guitar riffs. And I assume these are Kurt Cobain's best riffs of his entire life. You can also notice that Nirvana were playing a lot of Metal riffs. Anyway, I really hope you'll enjoy the video.

Kurt wasn’t afraid to take that simple little riff you come up with on the spot and turn it into a whole song
Such a good way of putting it.
Excelente comentario, no pudistes describirlo mejor
“Nobody dies a virgin... Life fucks us all.”
Kurt Cobain
I turned on subtitles!
i love that quote
Cobain is just underrated as a guitarist, he created simple but probably some of the most memorable and coolest riffs ever
Dude nobody underestimates him.
He is literally on every list of the best guitarists there is.
@@mood7143 yeah i didn’t understand why he called him underrated lmfao
What the fk you taking about, he is overated af.
@@alexandruacatrinei1032 no
@@alexandruacatrinei1032 ig it depends on who it is, some people treat him like a god and some people hate his guts, me personally, I fall in the middle of that range where I understand he had a great impact and was a good guitarist, but definitely not comparable to the other "greats"
It's easy to play this riffs but it's hard to write such good riffs
I would even say they easy to write, but it's not that easy to build a song around them.
@@joandrumz3176
True that’s what people forget.
I could make a simple riff but never amount to any success to the level Kurt did with his creativity.
@@youreokayboah2128 it’s so frustrating wring riffs in this style because it’s daunting trying to get something that sounds as good as Kurt’s riffs.
I dare say he is one of the best riff writers in rock history, his rhythm is very creative.
Great tone by the way!
agreed
He's good, but they are really just Melvins re-imaginings. Not in a bad way. He worshiped them, and you definitely see how deeply they influenced his writing.
The riffs of bleach era are fantastic!
To appreciate Cobain is to appreciate what the guitar exists for. Some people don’t like Nirvana due to taste which is fine. Putting taste aside then consider the guitar is a tool to communicate and express yourself with. Kurt is the embodiment of that purpose. He wasn’t showy because it didn’t serve the songs that he wrote. Frankly I think the music suffers if Kurt would’ve been hung up on soaring solos and technical wizardry. He was most of all a punk guitarist and there is an urgency and simplicity required. There is still beauty in raw and simple things.
Agreed
Man Nirvana are the best
Sick riffs
Catchy melodywriting
Great (and or crazy) harmony
Amazing Basslines that got me onto playing
And the drums of (later on) Dave froggin Grohl
All in all my favorite band of all time
A lot of people complain about the songs on the later, commercially successfull albums, but I just love every single song for his own reason
Take Come as you are and Hairspray Queen.
Completely different, but both great in there own right
Nirvana are great but Kurt's voice keep is annoying. And some he composed where good and sometimes kinda crappy.
@@britinlondon2391 dude ...
Bleach is really underrated.
Some of this stuff honestly borders heavy metal
The whole Bleach album sounds metal. Especially Blew and Negative Creep
all the best riffs on Bleach were. Paper Cuts, Scoff, Swap Meet, Mr. Mustache, Sifting.
Glad to see oh the guilt and curmudgeon on the list!
A little bonus favorite riff of mine is "talk to me" one of Kurts most new wave sounding songs, sounds like a grungy cars song
I was hoping to hear “Talk To Me”! it’s always been one of my favorite bootleg deep cuts.
Great video, Aero Zeppelin itself is a masterclass of riffimg the shit out of a guitar and so its the whole bleach album. Fun fact that no one seems to care is that the first strum of smells like teen spirit is done with an upstroke or so my ears hear. Good job, Kurt was a genius indeed and probably the last truly rockstar.
I don't qualify Kurt being a genius. I mean, I like he's work well some, but he's kinda not good at the same time. But his passion comeing through the music helps most of the time.
@@britinlondon2391 are you having a fucking stroke mate?
@@britinlondon2391yes except he was a genius
starting off with Mr Butterworth, my endless respect for going so deep
😍 for Blandest.
Thanks for sharing some light on Kurt Cobains guitar playing. Everyone always talks about his singing.
I would still say singing was clearly his strength
shining some light
riff writing*
oh I like that you write stuff in the subtitles ! live the riffs you picked and you right, nirvana has do many awesome less know songs
Enjoyed the riffs and the subtitles man!
Reading those subtitules was kinda wholesome
I love your videos man, keep it up
You're the boss at guitar. You know how to play thousand of songs and riffs of a bunch of generes.
Cobain was one of the greatest riffmasters of all time. He could do simple, jagged, heavy, clean...and he'd somehow wind melodies over it.
Такое чувство будто тут не лучшие риффы за его карьеру а абсолютно все риффы за карьеру)
Ибо они все лучшие !!!

God I haven't listened to Nirvana in like two years, and whilst that may not seem like much, apparently it was enough for me to completely forget how good their music is. Add on that I am better at bass than I was then and re-learned the basslines by ear, and they are a lot more in depth than I remember
I saw the subrirles man, it is so kind to talk with your subs like with your friend. Mb i'm little bit late but i' ve got hyper x cloud alpha s as a present and metallica t shirt. Have a good luck and keep going playing the guitar !
50 Nirvana's riffs: pratically the entire discography 😁
Good job, expecially for the Incesticide songs
Cobain is metal AF
More like punk
Well you could say bleach is more metal sounding...but it's also very punk. Mix the two together and you get grunge.
@AxCxAnalCUNT uhh yes. Bro grunge comes from both punk and metal.
@@kieranhanham7228 grunge come only from punk.
Thanks for 90's PANTERA that made a border between GRUNGE and METAL.
@@jarumsuntik4099 aic and soundgarden are very much metal and not punk
Very interesting video man :)... Btw nice subtitles. It will be cool to see them in next videos 😁
A lot of these riffs are closer to Rust In Peace than Nevermind
No?
Though there is a lot of 123 or 321321 etc things going on. Reminded me a bit of what Mustaine likes to do
His pre- bleach Era stuff was just the most interesting imho. And then, after nevermind, he returned to that
Great job and thanks for creating this video. It reminds me what a great riffmeister Kurt was. 🤘🎸🤘🤘
Kurt is a genius ❤
Is??? Was and always will be! To smart for the masses.
I see your a huge fan of nirvana. And I do like their songs, but I don't qualify as a genius. He just makes music for people to relate.
@@britinlondon2391his riffs are simple yet genuis
Thanks for your amazing job
I love your videos so much I was sitting in my room eating ramen and watching this makes my day 10000% better
Christmas was Fine, I got an Iron Maiden sweatshirt
its so sad that social media guitarists turns guitar into a sport. i dont think anyone put those songs to their playlists and listen. on the other hand we have this. we all remember, listen most of these "simpe" songs for the past 20 years
There is no point in being a super technical guitarist when you cant write songs. Music is about expression, passion, creativity. Its not a sport.
Your dog at about 16:40 😂😂 he liked it.
My subtitles turned on automatically and actually, I was surprised that you write some stuff there. From now on I'm gonna make sure that subtitles are on during your videos)
Big respect for the subtitle guy, thanks for being people.
I think it'd be cool to come to this video only knowing Nevermind, and then hearing some of his older 'grungier' riffs.
Kurt is definitely one of the greatest guitarists of all time
He is the second jimi hendrix in guitar and second john lennon in vocals
My favorite's videos of youtube is yours, awsome!
Riff god Kurt.
A lot of his riffs will be with me for a long time.
I would love to see some riffs from Fecal Matter on one of these, Class of 86 is one of my favorite Kurt riffs
I love videos like this! Nice
очень классный звук гитары и барабанов.
I feel like not enough ppl talk about how smart Kurt is when it comes to making good guitar rifts
not really smart I should say but okay.
@@britinlondon2391 You sure go out of your way to tell everybody they're wrong for complimenting Kurt. It's kind of bizarre how many comments I see you in shitting on people's opinion.
Not only that, but you seem like one of those mid-level guitarists who's at the point on the skill curve where your interest is in technical proficiency and think that's the only thing that qualifies as good, but you're still well below the point where you understand the nuances of music and how difficult it is to write exceptional music.
Being good, or even a genius, isn't about how technical you are. Some of the "best" guitarists have a catalog full of forgettable songs that don't cross the line of impact and influence. Meanwhile, somebody like Kurt has a catalog absolutely bursting at the seams with incredibly impactful and influential songs. Even their least known songs are absolute gems of riff, melody, harmony, rhythm, etc.
Kurt was incredibly gifted and arguably genius level with what he did. His songs don't have to be difficult to play for them to be good. There are only a handful of legendary riff-writers who left even an albums worth of material to celebrate. But somehow, this punk dude from Aberdeen with no training whatsoever has as much as them all combined, and only released 4 albums.
Seriously, you're completely missing the point of people's praise here because you're too focused on your own opinion of what's good, and haven't stopped to think about why they're saying this.
@@NautilusGuitars okay dude you need to take that tampon out of you and rethink again. What do you mean I play technical and another word that I can't pronounced or spelled. And you say some artist I like are Forgetable? Randy rhoads, dimebag darrell, Dave Mustain, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and many more have Many iconic songs and some are technical. Most of the times I didn't like technical songs because they don't know what a song is. And what do you mean of some punk in Aberdeen with no training? You are missing the point. And I that's my opinion you are the only one shitting on my opinion😂
@@britinlondon2391 Yikes... Nevermind dude. Clearly logic and reading comprehension aren't your strong suits.

Good job!!!
The captions made your video so much better! 😂
How could you make a 19 min video and skip Love Buzz! while including songs like Stain, come oon. I know it's not a Nirvana original but they made it their own. Those riffs should be on there!
Pretty cool you included a lot of lesser known songs though.
Of course i read the subtitles bro, love u

Great video man! Where did you get the backing tracks?
great playing man ! kurts songs will prosper
Epic riff tape.
For Christmas I received the nevermind vinyl 😍😍😍
Congratulations 🥳

swap meet has a cool riff, i like how it sounds! although i have no idea what those words mean!
It’s like a flea market, or a community yard sale. Knowing Kurt’s sense of humor though, it may have been intended with some dirty sexual innuendo i.e. swapping meat… but that’s just my guess hahaha
@@blastbeatdown Youre probably right! He had a sense of humour (in his own way) so that doesnt surprise me, i wish he was still around also !
I just discovered the captions on your videos.

hey, does anyone know where i can get mrs butterworth's sheet music or tabs?
Btw, this video is amazing

Great job, king of moderate rock mr. Kurt Cobain
Paper cuts chorus at end he hits high strings, not low as i have seen in videos

Badass guitar!
Camenfor the riffs, stayed for the subtitles
The Bleach/Incesticide Riffs are so dissonant - love it
Really enjoyed this - inspired me to pick up my axe
Dive is one of my favorites
The captions tell a story
Best riffs of Cobain - all riffs of Cobain! That 's true!
Your guitar tone makes me feel like Nirvana was a metal band hahahaha. Awesome playing tho!
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find it quite difficult to do power chords- probably because I have small hands?
Them crooked vultures , QOTSA, Joshua Homme … было бы классно такую тематику лицезреть)
yeah, i agree that kurt used to play slopply just for the imagery
Miss u Kurt
Yeah man.
Imagine if Kurt played like Jason Richardson i don’t think he’d be as memorable honestly. I think it was the simplicity that made it for this band.
played cool, good. Where did you get bass and drums for guitar?
