We rescued a 9 month old Border Collie. The first night she jumped up & slept on our bed with us. With 40 years of having BCs, none ever slept on our bed. The next morning she immediately sat in front of my husband and sniffed his bare toes. She did this several times. We were confused as to her actions. My husband had a doctors appointment the next day so my husband told his doctor about this strange behavior. The doctor thought for a short time then ordered additional blood tests. My husband was diabetic and we didn’t know it. At his doctor’s direction, we trained her to be his Service Dog as she could warn him of any sugar issues. Later , my husband had a stroke & was in a wheelchair. Molly served him constantly never playing. Molly went to heaven to be with my husband within 6 months of his passing. Border Collies are the best.
1st comment! I had a dog named Sweetie, she was a stray we found near a dumpster when she was a pup. When she got older the dog became an escape artist. The dog looked like a mini gold lab. She could get out of everything. But was still the sweetest. I miss her.
My favorite dog I ever owned was a border collie my mom bought me for my birthday when I was in High school, Mom worked nights and wanted me to have some protection! Best present I ever had, always alert to what was going on around our first floor apartment, and letting me know when there were strangers around anywhere near. Best protection I ever had.
Scottish terriers are my angels they are the easiest puppies to raise, they are very independent and I personally found it easy to train them they are so clever and brave❤
I've had three Collie Service Dogs over the past 20 years. They are particularly suited to task needs. They are smart, loving and easy to train. They have all been extremely intuitive to care for my disabilities. I've loved them all
I have a working line GSD, Czech specifically so I have some bias, but I also work with dogs and golden retrievers are probably the easiest to train, especially for casual owners. Poodles belong on this list as well, they are incredibly smart. GSDs and Border Collies definitely learn new tasks the fastest, but their levels of drive, huge excercise needs, intensity, and with GSDs protective nature, add huge training needs the retrievers don't have.
Some people don't understand how much of a connection a person can have with their furry companion. I feel for u my friend. Ur dogs running around in heaven now with all the balls and bones they could ever need .
Border collie hands down smarted dog's in the world! I have one, she is the sweetest, smarted, loveble, and friendly dog. She understands everything but I spend a lot of time with mine she is the BEST!!!
Our Doxie is so dang smart we have to talk in code around her. Shortly thereafter she'll even dicifer the code. She knows more words than is desirable. No out smarting her.
Papillon we got one at 14 weeks old she had never been outside to potty. 5 hour car ride home with her and she was potty trained in a week and by 6 months she was bonded to my mom and would take her to her nebulizer BEFORE she started wheezing. She ended up being trained as a service dog and when my mom passed she decided to take care of me by alerting when my blood sugar dropped really low by waking me up sitting on my chest and barking. I lost her last year and I will be getting another one soon . Once you’ve been owned by a Papillon ( aka 10 lb tyrant) you will always want another one
I rescued a pug/jack Russel mix(jug) from a drug house when he was 5 weeks old. His name is TOBY. Toby was sooo easy to train. He will lay down and roll over, he would walk beside me on his back legs, fetch anything and not come back without whatever I threw, sit straight straight up on his butt and cross his paws and literally bege to play with him with a laser lite, and actually sound out the sounds "I WANT IT wanting his toy or laser lite. Sounds crazy huh? But it's true. I've had him for over 10+ yrs and someone stole him from my yard. I love and miss my TOBY EVERYDAY/24/7
I have a 4 year old labradoodle and an 11 week old cavoodle and out of the two I definitely think the cavoodle is smarter. She’s a quick and willing learner
Springer Spaniel- had 2 growing up, living in the country- in 2 different areas. Both areas our neighbors had those invisible electric fences for their dogs and they thought we did as well since our dog would be sitting patiently by the lot line- we did not, my dad trained them from the minute we got them where the lot line was and not to cross it- our 1st dog crossed the lot line only 2 times both times she was concerned for her humans.
We had a mixed dobe. She was a lot smarter than I am. We had 11 years with her and I tried to wear her out but she never quit. We lived in Taipei, New York, Manila, Chiang Mai and Hong Kong. We lived in apartments on the 30+ floor and in mansions with large lawns. She adjusted to our new routine and thrived. I miss her still.
When I was ~2 years old, a pitt bull grabbed my face and shook me. He was just playing, but that hurt, and I had to have my face put back together. I was terrified of dogs - until I met a big, friendly Labrador retriever and found out dogs weren't monsters.
I had a female Rottweiler Ava I could talk to her ! She died 18 month ago great with kids and family, now I know not all Rottweilers are friendly Ava was thoe miss her
I have a lab and she's lstill. Learning as she is almost two but knows to wait for her food and toys gonin her kennel on command how to give a hug she love hugs how to spin and a few more I might have missed I love my Luna she was champion bred by a duck. Dog. Trainer we got he untrained at 12 weeks old and I tought her myslef.

Honestly I am all for the jack Russell terrier, absolutely mental little things but so intelligent, mine is 16 now but still like a puppy
