It was another beautiful and sunny day in Eugene, while it rained all day in Portland (and everywhere else.) The football gods have been blessing Autzen with great weather every weekend. I watched the game in awe at how much time the o-line gives Dillon Gabriel to do what he needs to do. That O-line is ELITE. And Oregon’s defense is also scary. I would not want to go up against them. This is such a complete team from top to bottom. Loved what we got to see from Da’Jaun Riggs too, that was exciting as hell. On to the next! GO DUCKS!!!
"I watched the game in awe at how much time the o-line gives Dillon Gabriel." -MashaRistova Same here. On the one sack they did give up, Gabriel had SIX seconds to find somewhere to go with the ball-that's twice as long as an average pocket is expected to last. Incredible feat of pass protection all game, and against an Illinois pass rush that had been getting some pregame love by the punditry.
I honestly feel like he was playing a lil gun shy.... and i dont blame him.... that said, i am glad he got those post injury butterflies under control, because he is a dude..... and Oregon is soooo much better with him playing with a chip on his shoulder!
Whittington appeared to miss a gaping hole on one particular run over left guard in the first half, as I, equipped with armchair and tuna sandwich, could plainly see from the backfield replay angle. Yes, he still picked up a good amount on the play thanks to the tremendous o-line surge, but I kept thinking the guy's just not seeing it anymore. ... Well, fast-forward a smidge and there he is, juking and jetting his way toward the goalline, absolutely trucking some poor sinner along the way. Guess he's seeing things okay after all! And those hands ... what a receiving threat he is. Great to see him gearing up for the stretch run.
I understand Riggs has some reputation for carrying that old-school bite-a-kneecap-off mentality with him. Ooh, I'll have some more of that, please. Just to remind myself: The success of Oregon football has been achieved largely by way of three-star players maxing out and playing like blue chippers; Riggs has the making of a vintage Duck.
My brother even said to me, "I know they are down 35 at half but man you got to call the holding." Honestly it was bad. Blatant holding, and the block in the back? That was playing on the screen the ref comes over after watching it picks up the flag and says legal block....... 😂 I have to say the one thing i am nervous about this year. And I am calling it to happen in the Big 10 championship game. Whoever Oregon is playing will be getting a lot of help from the officials and it may cost us the game. I will just call it now. Now I could be wrong and i hope i eat crow on this comment, I truly hope i do. But i fully expect the officiating in that game to be messy.
Yeah I said it a few months back, certain people In higher positions may not take to kindly to a newcomer coming in and wreaking havoc on their status quo. Yesterday the refs were involved with blatant rigging in the OSU-Nebraska during that 1st half. It proved to be the difference.
The stripes better be willing to review every questionable call when it comes to turnover status!!! They just dont want a new member to come in and do what we are doing!
Hey Spencer, thoughts on Justius Lowe? 4 catches for 79 yards and a TD in the last two games, that's not bad at all given his playing time. As a fellow Lake Oswego alum, think he might be your home town hero going forward?
After this week a lot of those fans from other programs who were talking a lot about Oregon not being that big of a deal...... They are real quiet right now. 😂
2nd and 3rd strings looked good too. Oh, and have you noticed that every team has trouble throwing on Oregon? In the past the Ducks have had good players in the secondary, but this is the first time I can remember that as a unit, the secondary is amazing.
Really like how you can see the development clearly on the field. Lots of people were worried about Reed at corner, he's been playing great ball thus far. Some of the freshmen, (Riggs, Sione, McClellan) look good with elite traits. Not too worried about the 3rd quarter "struggles" right now as I've seen some fans though. Scoring 50 just doesn't really matter anymore. Win, dominate, and get out. On to the next!
My take on the 2nd half in the last couple of games is that the 3rd quarter is being used as game speed practice, where they work on things that the coaches feel needs improvement. Along with that is giving the rest of the roster a chance to gain experience on the field and lastly, I don't think Coach Lanning feels the need to run up the score or further embarrass the other team.
love that you hold feet to fire about play calling and the not running the ball late in the game when the odds infinitely prefer that approach and throwing the ball in that game situation ups the risk of interceptions and clock management stupidity.
Much of Oregon's dominance in the new league is the other teams NOT seeing players like Oregon has, except for maybe Ohio St. Oregon has a lot of really good players. Seems like most are transfers and some homegrown players really stepping up: Manning, Devon Jackson, Poncho, Sediq, Connerly, and especially Matayo. Scheme and playcalling is really great. Derrick Harmon is my MVP. WHittington looked like he did right before he got hurt last year, which is really really good. The only thing I am worried about this team is how long Dan Lanning sticks around. Every team is going to want him. Just hope he likes fir trees and rain and the city of Eugene. Another thought: NOBODY is playing QB like Dillon. Nobody. Some QBs get hot for a few series, but then go back to being only semi accurate. Oregon has its best chance to win it all this year.
Hopefully we can make Dan lanning the new Saban, kinda like how right after Brady mahomes came into the spot, I think is ducks fans can agree we haven’t had/liked anybody as good as Dan has been for/to us
Lanning isn’t going anywhere anytime soon unless he goes to the pros. He’s made it very clear on several occasions that he wants to build his own thing in Eugene. He already passed on the Bama job. There’s nothing out there that would be more enticing, especially given the fact that he has the full support of the Swoosh at his disposal.
@@DarkwingDuck_91 Except that we heard it all before... the Snake and Mario, remember? But everytime he turns down jobs and every year he stays, it looks better. 4 or 5 years seems to be the magic number when a lot of coaches pack it up and go. I hope the Ducks win it all this year.
@@oregonxyz The difference is none of those folks you mentioned had Oregon at #1. Which Lanning did in just 3 short years. So for anyone that is impressive. The guy isn’t even 40 yet. We looked like the #1 team in the country. And there's still more we can do to be better. Getting tougher and tougher for these guys to come out and play their opponent: OREGON! But they're built for it.
I'd like to see Patrick Herbert utilized more if we ran a 2Y OFFENSE just once basing the gameplay on the run pass gameplay that would be something to watch

Oregon really needs to win out and win the conf championship game to position itself in the best possible way in the playoff bracket. Can Oregon run the gauntlet as an at large bid? What’s up Spencer. Do you think this team is actually capable of winning the chip? In my 18 years of life I have seen little to none success with my favorite teams. Mariners eh, blazers only in 2018-2019, and Oregon just tends to lose the big games. I need to know, do you think this team is genuinely capable of winning a championship? As always. Go ducks
Spencer, I was really surprised to learn that Bryce Boettcher plays baseball, but I have one I'll bet you didn't know. Bo Nix and Tez Johnson are brothers!! 🤯
Noah looked GOOOOOD. I thought that TD was a statement both for him as a player coming back from injury, and for the Ducks physical culture in general.
Hey Spence, i watched Sunny lastnight on locked on Illini..... and Illini faithful were saying Oregon is playing to hurt people... and im not one to troll but i had to retort lol. I said when we hear all offseason that we arent physical enough to play in the big10 thats what happens! We play physical...
Brad Nessler was largely brutal on the PBP call. How many times did he say "Owtzen"? How many times did he butcher player names? How far behind the game were he and Gene Steretore during the Tysheem Johnson targeting review? I got the clear sense that Nessler's show prep was minimal; he's coasting on laurels like Al Michaels at this point. I will credit him and Gary Danielson for illuminating the wrongly picked-up flag on Illinois' blatant block-in-the-back, a misguidedly rescinded penalty which sprang the Illini's second largest gain of the day and enabled the Illini's only score of the first half. They both applied proper scrutiny and criticism to the rescission-and that's all we have when it comes to bogus officiating. Because there will be no post-game Q&A between the media and officials; there will be no accountability; there will be no change. In-game announcers maintaining the capacity to call out suspect officiating objectively, effectively, and with proper proportion and pace, is essential to broadcast quality. Good on them at least for this play.
About the Tez/ Bo story.. why is there another story about the Duck being the Duck and not puddles.. that was a moniker Corso labeled him with. If you're a local, you know..
If I’m honest I saw some offensive holding on Oregon that should have been called. That stripped fumble play definitely should have been allowed to run.
I am 100% sure that their tune will change this week. This was the game I feel everyone in the country at this point just say. Okay not only do they play as the #1. But their mentality is the mentality of a championship team. Not letting the bright lights effect them. Staying humble. I think everyone sees that now.
The Illinois d line looked like they had their feet stuck in mud. Gabriel had a lot of time to throw the ball. This also meant the Illinois d backs were doing their jobs. End result, Ducks came to play, Illinois didn't, and since Ducks came to play, that made Illinois to look like a top 50 team.
No it is not natti or bust. "Or bust" is the way great teams turn into teams that get disappointed. We have the capability to win the natti. But we will be tested at some point again. Every great team is tested. Natti or bust mentalities more often than not when things don't go well you get to emotional about it. Cold and calculated is how you win a Natti.
Spencer, The Ducks are looking dominant, firing on all cylinders again. Is there another offense in the nation where that many players contribute to a team win? Also, let's say DG makes it to New York in December, at the end of this season where do you see Dillon being ranked as one of Oregons most elite QBs between himself and 2023 Bo Nix ??
I think Dillon's chances of Heisman are reliant on how some teams do the rest of the way. Boise St winning can get it for Jeanty. Colorado might get it for their 2 way player. If Oregon goes deep in the season and is still in it when they decide, Dillon could get it. For my money, I think Derrick Harmon could be the Heisman. He is playing that good.
The Boise State and UNLV game, Boise state ran like 8 minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter to win the game. Why couldn’t Oregon do the same thing?
"Who cares?" -Dan Lanning about the #1 ranking. "When you're still hungry you don't stop eating the food left on your plate." -Dan Lanning (who could be Dan Planning for how well he plans out a game) "We are ready and we will succeed" -Dan "Yes We Can" Ing (a hypothetical Dan Lanning) "
Yeah, like the fumble Atmeyer made, and clearly, the ball came out before his knee the ground.. and they did not even review it.. just like the fumble in the Ohio State game.. didn't even look at it.. why?
It was extremely obvious that the refs were refusing to throw flags against Illinois because they were feeling pity for them. That not their job, call the game fair

Holden is Holdout. Hs needs some time on the bench.
Nice job, Ducks. 🎉🎉🎉
you Missed talking about Noah Whittington’s bulldoze of a truck into the end zone 😎
People get in their feels when handed an L, don't pay it any mind
23:01 one play was a blatant hold on matayo in the 3rd quarter and went uncalled
If I’m honest I saw some offensive holding on Oregon that should have been called. That stripped fumble play definitely should have been allowed to run.
Ez game 💪🏿😤
And ppl like jd pickell and Joel klatt said we wouldn’t cover the spread go figure 😂😂😂😂😂
I am 100% sure that their tune will change this week. This was the game I feel everyone in the country at this point just say. Okay not only do they play as the #1. But their mentality is the mentality of a championship team. Not letting the bright lights effect them. Staying humble. I think everyone sees that now.
Klatt is hater
Fuck all the media, we are hated so hard, it’s bullshit, no pat on the back, barely mentioned
Illini offensive line were completely overmatched, every other snap it seemed like a hold was overlooked because the d line had them cooked.
At this point, it’s natty or bust baby. Anything less will be a disappointment.
And here I am just hoping we can make to the B1G conference championship still. Lol, I'll take a win at the Big House to start though.
Natty or bust!
Good question
I think Dillon's chances of Heisman are reliant on how some teams do the rest of the way. Boise St winning can get it for Jeanty. Colorado might get it for their 2 way player. If Oregon goes deep in the season and is still in it when they decide, Dillon could get it.
For my money, I think Derrick Harmon could be the Heisman. He is playing that good.
Tysheem Johnson had a nice game.
The Boise State and UNLV game, Boise state ran like 8 minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter to win the game. Why couldn’t Oregon do the same thing?
That's what I was wondering
Go ducks🦆
Why did they not throw a targeting call for Tez when he scored. Crown of helmet hit tez helmet, thats the definition...
"Who cares?"
-Dan Lanning about the #1 ranking.
"When you're still hungry you don't stop eating the food left on your plate."
-Dan Lanning (who could be Dan Planning for how well he plans out a game)
"We are ready and we will succeed"
-Dan "Yes We Can" Ing (a hypothetical Dan Lanning)

My thoughts at the end of the half…..Any questions from the national media ?
Do we have an official explanation on what happened with the sack on Illinois' first drive?
Play was blown dead on forward progress grounds, which is not reviewable. Bad call on the field that doesn't allow for replay to factor in
35-3 at the half and only 3 more points? The SEC WOULD RUN UP THAT SCORE IN THE SECOND HALF.
Great game still concerned with Gabriel throwing another interception
Hey Spence...... go watch the post game with DG.... he totally burned James!! Lmao
Yeah, like the fumble Atmeyer made, and clearly, the ball came out before his knee the ground.. and they did not even review it.. just like the fumble in the Ohio State game.. didn't even look at it.. why?
The only points Illinois got was from penalties that kept the drive going.
And Boettcher plays baseball!
Spencer, why are we not seeing Jurion Dickey?
Justius Lowe is just better, I guess
It’s a national game. Let them tell the brothers story. There’s people out there who don’t know it. Who cares?
WHO CARES
It was extremely obvious that the refs were refusing to throw flags against Illinois because they were feeling pity for them. That not their job, call the game fair
I was Bo Nix's dog.
“Did not care for it”
Didnt Novosad already use red shirt last season?
I think so, maybe they think he can get another? But it's prob why he's playing often while Dante doesn't
QUACK
Unless it's egregious, holding is not called anymore
Can we contact the Better Business Bureau about these refs or what Spencer? Let these young men COOK! This is about them not you zebras
Why do you not want to score in the 2nd half. ? Vanilla offense.
If you're gonna win by 20+ anyway, all you're doing is risking injury
Cmon Spencer… one point?? Gotta be better..
I WILL TRY
I hope all these bullshit zoom call lookin ass shows fail. Do better or go bankrupt immediately. .. GoDucks
Sorry to report, that will not happen
@LockedOnOregonDucks 🤣🤣🤣🤣 There are plenty of fools waiting to watch middle aged men pretending they had a decent high-school experience... 👌 got it
