The Terrapin Expedition Vehicle - Space Engineers

This is the Terrapin Expedition Vehicle Steam workshop blueprint for Space Engineers! A giant mobile base with a fully functioning crane arm that you can control and pick up stuff or in my case drag a small ship along. I go over this land vehicles features and looks such as its transformation mechanic as it changes from rover to base mode, automatic doors, a vanilla elevator/lift, a LCD with a GIF on it and much, much more!

I absolutely love the look and actual usability of this mobile base. I believe the best builds are the ones that optimize space while at the same time have multiple functions and modes. This looks like a vehicle you would expect to find in Star Citizen.

whoo hoo, so fast! thank you for the review! glad you liked it! (the scanner actually uses the camera raycast, so the antenna is needed for it to work ;) but it scans very slowly at >500m and eats performance like it's cereal, so it's turned off on default)

@@bman2cool4u68 sure, why not! Note that some of the scripts are outdated now and should be updated. I don’t know how to update an existing blueprint in the workshop though...
also the resolution on small block corner lcds seem to have been raised messing with pictures.

i would put a drill on that crane, with the basic refinery it might make for a "simple" miner

Ok, the crane works with endpoint control. you are controlling the position of the end of the landing gear relative to the base of the crane. so W is forward, D Is backwards, SPACE is up, ect. the arrow keys, Q and E control rotation of the landing gear.

He must have used rotor trick for the basic refinery since no small block for it. Sir we have safely arrived but there is only half a plane left.

it's a small rotor to a large head from the chassis to the large blocks and a large head to a small rotor in the interior - most space saving way i could come up with.

As for that gif, it's likely a series of multiple images that have a very short cycle time.

Rotors are not strong enough to do lifting. But this is a nice fancy rover.

Super griding, using a small rotor head on a large grid rotor allows you to use both on one grid

The game is coming out (is out?) on xbox afaik not sure when.
But a word of advice, its fun to tinker in this game, actually playing it is not sth most people really do.
Servers are terrible and the game struggles to run in singleplayer.
So to really get something out of it you should play it on a pc with access to scripts, mods and external programs ;)
