@@agamerdude7596 In all of my runs, I always stop by the mushroom cave degasi base. It’s a pretty decent cache of stuff. The stupid stingers always get me and I have to make a danger trip down to get my seamoth lol
The explosion itself can kill you in the base game if you're too close (unless in a seamoth which will destroy the vehicle). Death Run adds a shockwave down to 100m that can kill you. It's pretty easy to avoid by just diving before the explosion.

Exactly what I was thinking. If they had made the leviathans scarier, the game would be so much cooler. Of course, ill still play it because it looks like a terrifying game, but it has a lot more potential to be even more scary.

In fairness, this is due to how hostile fauna in the game are programmed, including the larger ones: they deal just enough damage to scare the player shitless (especially since you're severely limited in ways to fight back), yet also give them enough time to run for their lives and escape.
I like the extremely painful scream that comes with death from the bends. It truly is a devastating way to go. Bubbles form in your blood located at the joints, and if there isn't a doctor nearby, you're basically fucked. All the other screams in other death scenes sounded the same, the one that played for the death by the bends was notably more passionate in its delivery. Be careful kids. Getting out of the water can be just as dangerous as getting in.

You can technically die to any of the sparks on wrecks and it hurts you even if in the seamoth (this could also happen in Below Zero with the seatruck).
Bleeders have always been TERRIFYING TO ME. Every time I go to the aurora or any other biome they’re in I ALWAYS use the propulsion cannon to kill ALL OF THEM before continuing swimming or doing my thing (ie repairing the drive core)…just seeing and having some LARGE parasite on my arm and especially imaging it in real life is fucking SCARY. Hopefully never encounter anything like it cuz I’ll scream and slash that survival knife on it till it’s off like in game 😅
I feel like it's made worse by the fact that they're specifically described as dirty. The idea of getting some kind of nasty blood infection because of a bite from them makes me cringe.
Yea, in BZ every leviathan that can kill you has a kill animation, and ICE WORM HAS 4 THAT ARE EQUALLY COOL AND TERRIFYING, they even went out of their way to make it so the character actually tries to fight back such as kicking the Squidshark leviathan to not get eaten (fails to kick in kill animation) or trying to run in one of the ice worm kill animations (flips over in front of it's mouth)

I already had everything I needed to make the final upgrade...and I got too excited/close and crushed by the cyclops with everything I needed to complete the game in my inventory. I was PISSED.
Not just you, pretty much everyone who have beaten the game and spent some time in the Seamoth felt it, I think that's why they just straight up replaced Seamoth with Seatruck in BZ
@@kizzy2888 Your equipment in BZ is as the character said "borrowed", BZ also takes part like 10 or 20 years later, so Seamoth was probably ruled out due to it's space exploration purposes not fitting for the planet. Seatruck is pretty much an easier to make Cyclop. Prawn is also updated in the game, it's a new version. So it's highly probable that space exploration companies have reworked all their vehicles to suit the situation on the planets they're working on
Most people don't like how anticlimactic most of these are, but in reality, these are eerily similar to what it would really look like. When something small attacks you, it won't spit in your face and try to eat you-- the real pain would be on your arm or chest or head

I got a new one for you with Subnautica 2.0 update. Place a bioreactor in a large room with a glass dome, then try to jump onto the console of the bioreactor from its side. I once managed to get stuck in my falling animation. Once I moved away I landed and nearly died from a 1-foot fall

I don't know if I'm dumb and have no idea about diver research, but thanks for putting in death by "the bends", now I know that it's an actual thing and you can die to it in real life :) Now I know to not ascend too quickly when diving
You can't breathe the surface air in Death Run until crafting an air filter chip which only becomes available after fixing the Aurora's drive core. Early on the air pump and pipes are generally your portable means of recovering air and you typically want to have more than one O2 tank. To make things more fun, the increased aggression from enemies combined with nitrogen management ascending to the surface to place the pump can make waiting for your O2 to replenish dangerous too. Oh, and it's twelve scans to learn how to make a Seamoth (20 scans in Worse than Death Run settings) and a Seamoth requires all the plants needed to make the hatching enzymes (minus the sea crown), so getting one is usually more trouble than it's worth. Small bases for air help too but the habitat builder requires magnetite so you probably won't get bases until the Aurora explodes. Once you get used to it it's not as bad as it sounds but Death Run does make things far harder, especially at the start.

From what i see there are several (Total 11) MAIN types of death(s) (Vanilla): Overheating (Thermal Vents, Fire, and natural heat from the Inactive and Active Lava Zone), Starvation/Dehydration, Electrocution, Nearby explosion (including Acid/Deep Shrooms, Crashfish, and Aurora explosion), Creature Attack (special death anims. for certain Leviathans), Drowning, Poison/Venom (from Gasopods and Drooping Stingers), Crash-Course Collision (just what i like to call it, but when you get hit by a moving object. (Does include something falling on top of your head)), Acid (what I think the brine in the Lost River is), Radiation, and Fall Damage. MAN, that's a lot of ways to go.
Once a floater was stuck to a rabbit ray and I took the floater off, then I threw the floater and it got stuck on my arm. Every time I opened the inventory I saw it sitting there blocking the screen, then I died repetedly

I deal with this shit all the time in subnautica. I have about 3 bases nearest the most dangerous damn places in the game. A. Base is right next to the void, and a large chunk of it goes into the ocean blue. I named the three ghost leviathan adults:Jimmy, Harold Sr and Johnathan. B. Base is in the fossil zone, next to a ghost juvie. I named him HaroldJr. C. Base is right next to the sea dragon. I named him Jerald. Annoyingly, near all of these really cool and dangerous leviathans, is some terrain that makes it almost impossible to get away fast. (Accept the void, but you know why it can be a pain to get out.)
Sounds neat! Other than a single multipurpose room for O2 and a spawn point in the lava zone I've never actually tried making a large base. There's more basic resources in there than expected.

This has to be one of the only games that’s coded death by falling entities. I know Minecraft/terraria you can do with sand and stuff, but you rarely see stuff like vehicles or boxes as a cause of death.
I know more commonly folks have experienced through having the cyclops or rocket platform fall on them. Once I saw the seamoth could be lifted with the propulsion cannon I had a lot of fun fooling around with it.
By the time of recording this, not really at all since I'm pretty used to the game. Curiously, the first time I tried to record the dead zone I apparently got far enough in to despawn the ghost leviathans so I just kept going until it teleported me back to the center.
@@joedames7432 Yep, Subnautica map has it's border and it will teleport you back to 0 0 0 if you'll cross it (0 0 0 coordinates are safe shallows so you should be fine)
I wouldn't let this discourage you - for the most part Subnautica only has a single OHKO attack with the Sea Dragon Leviathan's bite and that's pretty rarely used. Pretty much everything attacks and backs off giving you time to get away.
The first time I ever really felt motion sick was my first encounter with the Mesmer. It wasn’t even in vr it was on Xbox on my tv but as I saw that colorful edge around the screen mixed with the cave disorientation I really felt like I was about to throw up
It's so dissatisfying how you're never truly eaten. There's an animation that looks like you're about to be eaten, but then you never get swallowed. This stopped triggering my thalassaphobia once I realized you can't get devoured.
Below Zero adds more devouring animations from creatures like the chelicerate and squidshark. Hopefully the gargantuan leviathan whenever it is released for Subnautica provides some fun deaths.
first time i died from my seamoth's momentum, i was so confused. I just got back home, exit it, then died and was like, wut? at least it was nearby in the safe shallows and i didnt really lose anything
I regret to say, I’ve lost a hardcore world to a pile of floaters. Just a little tip, if you have the “freeze screen when inventory is open” setting on, do not drop a ton of floaters and close the pda 💀
Some folks had mentioned dying from having the cyclops fall on them after making it but I just didn't have the patience to build another, so Seamoth dropping was a fun substitute.

The fact that you can get killed by the Aurora's explosion in that mod is such a neat but mean detail.

You can't breathe the surface air in Death Run until crafting an air filter chip which only becomes available after fixing the Aurora's drive core. Early on the air pump and pipes are generally your portable means of recovering air and you typically want to have more than one O2 tank. To make things more fun, the increased aggression from enemies combined with nitrogen management ascending to the surface to place the pump can make waiting for your O2 to replenish dangerous too.
Oh, and it's twelve scans to learn how to make a Seamoth (20 scans in Worse than Death Run settings) and a Seamoth requires all the plants needed to make the hatching enzymes (minus the sea crown), so getting one is usually more trouble than it's worth. Small bases for air help too but the habitat builder requires magnetite so you probably won't get bases until the Aurora explodes.
Once you get used to it it's not as bad as it sounds but Death Run does make things far harder, especially at the start.
For me the ghost leviathan is the scariest thing ever in Subnautica

Reaper Leviathans are easily the most terrifying to me still.
From what i see there are several (Total 11) MAIN types of death(s) (Vanilla): Overheating (Thermal Vents, Fire, and natural heat from the Inactive and Active Lava Zone), Starvation/Dehydration, Electrocution, Nearby explosion (including Acid/Deep Shrooms, Crashfish, and Aurora explosion), Creature Attack (special death anims. for certain Leviathans), Drowning, Poison/Venom (from Gasopods and Drooping Stingers), Crash-Course Collision (just what i like to call it, but when you get hit by a moving object. (Does include something falling on top of your head)), Acid (what I think the brine in the Lost River is), Radiation, and Fall Damage. MAN, that's a lot of ways to go.
My 1 rule of subnautica is to stay away from anything bigger than me and with scythes for arms
Or just avoid any louder roars in the first place, most of the strong creatures create very loud noises

I didn't know floaters can kill you, I just casually grab one and attach it to my starting lifepod.
Once a floater was stuck to a rabbit ray and I took the floater off, then I threw the floater and it got stuck on my arm. Every time I opened the inventory I saw it sitting there blocking the screen, then I died repetedly
Also, NEVER, and I mean NEVER, put those things in the cyclops, especially in large numbers

Bruh, I didn't know that exiting the Seamoth prematurely can kill you, but, I guess, it _does_ make sense
Sometimes when exiting it puts you in front of it which will not end well if it's going full speed. I learned that the hard way.

I deal with this shit all the time in subnautica. I have about 3 bases nearest the most dangerous damn places in the game. A. Base is right next to the void, and a large chunk of it goes into the ocean blue. I named the three ghost leviathan adults:Jimmy, Harold Sr and Johnathan. B. Base is in the fossil zone, next to a ghost juvie. I named him HaroldJr. C. Base is right next to the sea dragon. I named him Jerald. Annoyingly, near all of these really cool and dangerous leviathans, is some terrain that makes it almost impossible to get away fast. (Accept the void, but you know why it can be a pain to get out.)
Sounds neat! Other than a single multipurpose room for O2 and a spawn point in the lava zone I've never actually tried making a large base. There's more basic resources in there than expected.

This has to be one of the only games that’s coded death by falling entities. I know Minecraft/terraria you can do with sand and stuff, but you rarely see stuff like vehicles or boxes as a cause of death.
I know more commonly folks have experienced through having the cyclops or rocket platform fall on them. Once I saw the seamoth could be lifted with the propulsion cannon I had a lot of fun fooling around with it.

By the time of recording this, not really at all since I'm pretty used to the game. Curiously, the first time I tried to record the dead zone I apparently got far enough in to despawn the ghost leviathans so I just kept going until it teleported me back to the center.

@@joedames7432 Yep, Subnautica map has it's border and it will teleport you back to 0 0 0 if you'll cross it (0 0 0 coordinates are safe shallows so you should be fine)

I wouldn't let this discourage you - for the most part Subnautica only has a single OHKO attack with the Sea Dragon Leviathan's bite and that's pretty rarely used. Pretty much everything attacks and backs off giving you time to get away.

It's so dissatisfying how you're never truly eaten. There's an animation that looks like you're about to be eaten, but then you never get swallowed. This stopped triggering my thalassaphobia once I realized you can't get devoured.
Below Zero adds more devouring animations from creatures like the chelicerate and squidshark. Hopefully the gargantuan leviathan whenever it is released for Subnautica provides some fun deaths.

I regret to say, I’ve lost a hardcore world to a pile of floaters. Just a little tip, if you have the “freeze screen when inventory is open” setting on, do not drop a ton of floaters and close the pda 💀

Some folks had mentioned dying from having the cyclops fall on them after making it but I just didn't have the patience to build another, so Seamoth dropping was a fun substitute.
It's funny how just to keep the rating of the game low, they made the player's blood yellow too.
