My first Brother printer- and a nightmare to get working on my network. Your tutorial is solid gold; it saved hours of frustration. Brother's own instructions were useless. Thank you!
Done, this video is realllllly right on the spot. Lots of information (such as WPS) that are not even mentionned in the Brother's doc and many web sites.
Excellent tutorial video. No gimmicks, no silly gifs, just a solid tutorial. I’m just ordering this printer today and I’ve bookmarked your video for when it arrives. Thank you so much 👍👍
I don't normally leave reviews or comments, but this video was one of THE best ones I've ever observed!! It saved my TONS of frustration in setting up the printer on ALL my devices!!! WELL DONE!!!
Agree with John Saiz. Brother ought to link this video as 'Required Viewing' with this laser printer model. I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how to set up on my own out of the box with no progress whatsoever. Yours was the first YT tutorial I watched and I immediately told my boyfriend how this was a god-send video. Who else is going to tell us about turning off the 'deep sleep' function? These videos are so helpful. And thank you for using clear, concise language. Keep up the great work!
I just set-up my Brother HL-L2405w. Everything looked like it was set-up correctly, but it wouldn't print. I thought I'd have to return it because it was defective, but I decided to try one last thing - TURN OFF ALL THE DEVICES. I turned off the router, my computer, and the Brother; and after a few minutes, reconnected everything. To my pleasant surprise, the Brother printer connected and printed my test document. I was so relieved, but still a bit peeved and frustrated that Brother has such an archaic WI-FI setup and provide their customers with a useless USER GUIDE (from their website). I do appreciate the information that you provided in your video.
This by far the best tutorial on the Brother printers I have found, and possibly the best tutorial on UA-cam. Thank you very much for your thoroughness and clear instructions. A real treat.
I saw your video just before choosing the Brother HL-L2350DW printer and it convinced me that it could work with my Chromebook as well. For two days, I had been living a real nightmare with my old HP printer, a LaserJet Pro M12W which refused to print and connect to WiFi despite 4 years of good service with my Chromebooks. Fortunately, the Chromebook automatically detected the Brother printer and you are fine. Thanks for your video which is very clear and saves me a lot of time and trouble. You could add Chrome OS to your tutorial.
Wish I would have found this when I set mine up. I am pretty savvy overall and I have other Brother products that were very simple to set up. I love brother printers overall, but this one was horrible to set up so great job on this video. I already know about Brother telling you to change toner WAY before it's time so I knew how to reset that message on my other "all in one" printers, but not this one. Found your other video on that topic that led me to this video. I have bookmarked this video for future reference. Thanks for taking the time to post this!
Incredibly helpful video. Thank you so much! I've set up this printer on my own before and it took a long time. I just moved and had to set it up again. With your help it went much faster. Thanks to you, I also learned how to disable deep sleep and ink limit.
This video definitely saved me. I was at the end of my patience and found this excellent post. All I can say is thank you, and my printer is now linked to my iPhone .
OMG thank you for this video. I've had this style of printer for years - recently upgraded my home wifi and it wouldn't connect anymore! I hen-pecked the password in and it works! Also bonus how you showed how to print envelopes, etc. Left breadcrumbs to this video on my Amazon comment.
I purchased the HLL2325DW which is pretty much like the one here. I was just dreading the wireless hookup. I mean full of dread. Found this vid and didn’t need the Brother supplied instructions at all! This vid needs to be required viewing if you want to keep your sanity. 5 star stuff!
Thank you SO much for this video! It was incredibly helpful and saved me from taking my printer and throwing out the window because I couldn't get the replacement cartridge installed.
I've got similar Brother printer a few months ago.My Linux Mint PC recognized it on a network as soon as it was plugged in, and I was able to print right out of the box!
Thank you so much. Very clear instructions. I was at the point of sending the printer back so I am very glad I found your tutorial. Well done after a year you are still helping people connect their printers to wifi. 😃👍
Great Video especially the deep sleep hidden solution. I still run into sleep issues and need to unplug and re-plug printer to get it working. I have used the printer for about a year, and have had to manually put in the SSID and key about 12 times as it seems to drop. Each time it shows the correct SSID and I have to remove it and then manually re-enter it.
Dang!! Thanks so much....I was pulling my hair out thinking I'd bought a stupid printer but your instructions were very clear and now everything is working!! Much appreciated. One suggestion.....slow down a bit.....but, thanks a million!!
My gosh, I cannot THANK YOU enough! I would have never ever figured this out! God bless you!! As for Brother, they must be insane to think people could figure this out!🤪
Awesome tutorial! Finally got the printer connected thanks to you! Turns out my problem was the printer wasn't on the same Wi-Fi network my laptop was using (my home has two, a main and a guest Wi-Fi, and I'm using the guest one). I also had to connect it manually by typing in the password like you said. Thank you so much Update: To anybody else, please DON'T do what I did. Please make sure you connect everything to the printer over *ONE* network. I accidentally kicked everybody else's computers off the printer by trying to connect to mine on a second network. Now we all have to redo it -___-
This video is so easy to follow! Great job! I am trying to figure out how to stop my Brother HL-L2370DW from saying replace drum. I have replaced with a new drum and new toner cartridge but still receiving the replace drum message. Thanks in advance.
Wonderful video and printer. 14:28 to 16:30 helped me and I will make sure it to send it to my Mom so someone besides me can do it if the printer they have ever has issues and needs that. I like Brother printers and especially the Refresh EZ Print Subscription. Work on anything too and able to hook the printer up anywhere.
Fantastically helpful. The deep sleep mode ... I can't even find words. I have no idea how you figured out the secret menu thing, but many (many) thanks for doing so and sharing it.
Fantastic video! So glad I found this. Mine just came today so haven't set it up yet. I'll be using it mostly for toner foiling since I'm a crafter. Once I get into the settings I'll be looking for how to set toner fixation. If I don't find it I may come back and ask if you know. lol
Very , very good video, thanks. Just bought the Brother HL-L2390DW, and setting it up slowly (75 years old) question: what about the printer Default Login Password Change?
Great review/tutorial, thanks. You are absolutely spot on with how useless the setup guide is. I want to connect primarily to my desktop PC running Windows 10 with the option to use it wirelessly from a laptop. If I understand correctly I should install wireless first, THEN wired via the settings. Is that right? Cheers
I am so deeply grateful for this incredible video, I'm going to subscribe! But I ran into a problem I can't get around. I did buy a cable the same day, but would really like to use the wifi capability. So, I followed everything to a T, even though I'm a bit tech impaired, he was so clear, the beginning worked. I turned off Deep Sleep, I set the Toner to Continue and it does appear that it connected. Luckily our wifi password was all numbers, and even most small numbers, so that was quite quick, I pushed okay and it said Connected. The beautiful magic word. And then it went back to Wizard Setup, I believe. The light turned a steady....green? or yellow? It looks yellow to me, but okay, tinged green. I was certain I had succeeded and moved on to my MacBook Air--version 10.11.6. Yes, it's old, but it says it accepts it. (I just returned the HP Envy because that didn't! grrrrr.....) Now, actually, before I found your video, I had tried to follow the quick instructions provided and downloaded the driver package and it said it was installed. And here is where everything stalled, even when I got to this point following your video instructions. I simply could not find the printer on my Mac.And yes, my computer is using the same TP link. AND I could not ADD a new printer. First it would actually add it in the little box where it says Default, IP and Windows at the top left, but then it seemed to want Location and Use in addition to the Name and I couldn't supply those two and it would go no where. At least before I could ener the name, now I can't even do that--when I enter it in search, it does nothing. I would so appreciate some help.
Many thanks for this Eric. I am picking up my new Brother HL-L2350DW on Friday. I have read a lot of reviews and some people complained that the printer kept going offline.Guess they didn't know about the deep sleep function. And to top it all off I have the same router as you! Thanks again for this. Very well presented. You must have spent a lot of time producing this video.
Thank you! Big suggestion: for Android, if instead of Brother printer plugin you install Mopria service, the printer will be recognized even if in deep sleep. The manual does not refer to the brother printer app but to the mopria one!
"Oh, let's add a retarded "Deep Sleep" feature and make it nearly impossible for people to find. In fact, we won't even mention it in the manual. To add a twist, we will make the secret key combination different in every model." - Some genius @ Brother
@@thecollegepicker I just SETUP my printer for Wifi. Is it ok to turn off "Deep Sleep" after I do this? Also do I do the settings to bypass the chip only one time, or do I do it every time I need to bypass the chip?
? Excellent video, but accidentally we changed the printer set up to manual paper feed and were able to change it, but not sure how it happened on the first place???
On an older video so I don't think I'll get an answer, but my question is, what setting do I need to change to allow my PC to go to sleep. I have the MFC-l2690DW connected via USB. It goes into Deep sleep and I can still wake it up no problem when I send a print job or want to scan using the PC. The problem is my PC will allow the monitor to shut off after 20 minutes like normal but the PC never goes to sleep and something brings the monitor back on about 10 minutes after it shuts off. So something is happening roughly every 30 minutes. The PC is set to go to sleep after 45 minutes of no use, monitor to shut off after 20 minutes of no use. I don't want to change the PC settings as I don't touch the computer while my videos are encoding and then it will normally go to sleep when it finishes. Since I got the printer it has never go to sleep.
thanks for this video, very helpful BUT I have the printer set up on the same network as my computer/phone/tablet and I took it out of Deep Sleep mode, and the devices cannot find it. It is only working plugged into the computer. please advise thank you!
Fantastic video! I have a HL-L2365DW, and every so often (maybe every 2-3 hours?) the printer wakes up and *whirs* a little, but doesn't print anything and then goes quiet again. Any idea what's going on? :) Would appreciate any help! :)
Excellent guide! Really helped me. Why oh why they didn’t add a timer setting to deep sleep is beyond me. I could leave it on 24/7, with it deep sleeping during the night! 🙄 Also can I ask if you have tried the auto power down function? I have tried this. I’m certain I followed the instructions implicitly, but mine will not power off!!! It doesn’t matter what duration you choose. 1 hour, 2 hours. It will NOT switch off! Any ideas?
I have an older Brother printer that works great except now Deep Sleep has just shown on the screen and these instructions don't work when I get to the using the back and down buttons together. Any suggestions?
Nice tutorial. Didn't know about the hidden Deep Sleep settings. I have an HL-L2370DW connect via ethernet to my LAN, and I was still able to send a print job from Windows 10 to the printer while it was in Deep Sleep. The printer woke up, beeped, and the job printed successfully. Didn't have to touch the power button, so maybe the printer behaves differently on ethernet? Still working on the printer setup in CUPS on my Linux machine - I really shouldn't have to use Brother's .deb package to do this.
Thank you very much for your video it helped me a lot , but one thing is annoying that the printer goes to sleep so quick I got rid of deep sleep, but by the time I found something to print and organised it the printer went to sleep and a window appears on my iPhone saying the printer is offline and could not get it to print, is there a way to get rid of sleep
hello, thanks a bunch for the very thorough video. The link for the toner refill kit shows currently unavailable on Amazon. Would you know a replacement by any chance? thanks
Connecting the printer to an Apple Extreme in an extended wireless network with a USB. Any thoughts vs connecting wireless? (Replacing older MFC7360N since not supported with Mac OS13)
I've been trying to print on half letter paper with no success. No matter the orientation it never prints correctly (off center) I want to avoid calling support, thought I would see if you had any solutions first? Thanks!
Thanks for great tutorial but just one comment about the colour image 'UNBOXING' printed in b&w - there looks to be vertical stripes in print. Any comments?
I was wondering if you could help me with my printer I have a brother I have gone through the steps that you have posted in your video on how to get it out of sleep mode and I make sure that the sleep mode is off and it goes right back to sleep. I’m not sure what to do. Could you please get back with me?
My first Brother printer- and a nightmare to get working on my network. Your tutorial is solid gold; it saved hours of frustration. Brother's own instructions were useless. Thank you!
You are welcome
Just installed mine, no problem at all.
Ditto about the Brother documentation being totally useless. Now I'll watch the video and sincerely hope that it is at par with your review.

What A NIGHTMARE! It was impossible without your help. Many thanks!
*It prints like no other **Bestt.Digital** printer. i have always loved Epson for the colors they produce.*
After spending one hour trying to troubleshoot, I found this gem video. THANK YOU! I am now happily printing again and not going into a deep sleep.

Lifesaver! Haven’t used this printer in 2 years because I avoided set up after getting a new router. Worked in 5 min! TY!
I saw your video just before choosing the Brother HL-L2350DW printer and it convinced me that it could work with my Chromebook as well.

Thanks to you, I was able to connect my Brother printer to my home network. Very clear explanation. Even for me
Thank you so much. Very clear instructions. I was at the point of sending the printer back so I am very glad I found your tutorial. Well done after a year you are still helping people connect their printers to wifi. 😃👍
I too was on the verge of returning.
Absolutely amazing instructions! This has to be the fastest set-up I've ever done on any type of machine. Thanks so very much!!
Happy to help. 🙂

Great job. You have definitely made the setup easy to understand and I really appreciate the extra tips,
Excellent straightforward and well organised tutorial. Thank you so much!
Thanks brother, it worked!! I watched many video but only this worked!! I am very thankful to you!.,

Thank you so so much! You explained every step so well. Brother should pay you "big bucks!" Thanks again.
You are very welcome, happy to help.
I was looking for a nice looking, budget, quality printer on my kinda minimalist desk😂 I’ll buy this one asap just because of your perfect review.
This video is so easy to follow! Great job! I am trying to figure out how to stop my Brother HL-L2370DW from saying replace drum. I have replaced with a new drum and new toner cartridge but still receiving the replace drum message. Thanks in advance.
Man, thanks for the video… I had to stop and have a few beers to get it installed… best setup tutorial for this printer👍
Brilliant, saved me a load of head scratching !
Great video and I am ready for unpacking and get thing going. Thank you for guiding me out "of the forest".... (Brothers QG is worthless).
You are the best, Clear easy to follow and I succeeded.
Huge gratitude to you.
PS - Can't find the ink out on Amazon.
Fantastically helpful. The deep sleep mode ... I can't even find words. I have no idea how you figured out the secret menu thing, but many (many) thanks for doing so and sharing it.
It's an awful that it ships with it on 😢. You are welcome, happy to help.
Good explanation... Followed exactly everything... Printer still does not print after almost 2 months!
Suuuuuper useful tutorial. Thank you!!!
You are welcome. Happy to help
Thank you 🖖 💫 ! By the way, I noticed in the Brother Connect app there are some options for sleep modes and connection.
😮 serious work went into this. Nice man.
It was about a 3 day project 🙏
You are welcome 🙂
This video was super helpful!! Even though my printer is an older version.. it still applied! Thank you sm!
Wow man thanks a lot, you are a life saver with these tips!
Fantastic video! So glad I found this. Mine just came today so haven't set it up yet. I'll be using it mostly for toner foiling since I'm a crafter. Once I get into the settings I'll be looking for how to set toner fixation. If I don't find it I may come back and ask if you know. lol
I`ve always used a Brother printer very reliable and well though out features, I enjoyed your video well explained the operations thank you alan
You are welcome Alan. Brother makes great stuff 🤝
Thanks。It is very helpful。
Very good video. Thanks a lot from Germany.
You are welcome.
Thank you so much! You made it an easy setup!!!,
Very , very good video, thanks. Just bought the Brother HL-L2390DW, and setting it up slowly (75 years old) question: what about the printer Default Login Password Change?

Many thanks for this Eric. I am picking up my new Brother HL-L2350DW on Friday. I have read a lot of reviews and some people complained that the printer kept going offline.Guess they didn't know about the deep sleep function. And to top it all off I have the same router as you!
Thanks again for this. Very well presented. You must have spent a lot of time producing this video.
Thanks for the very detailed information
...thank you very much for your effort...perfectly done...
...fyi...my tablet (Samsung) sees printer in "deep sleep" mode...
Absolutely excellent, thank you so much.
Very nice Tutorial. Thank you 😊
Thank you! Big suggestion: for Android, if instead of Brother printer plugin you install Mopria service, the printer will be recognized even if in deep sleep. The manual does not refer to the brother printer app but to the mopria one!
I'll have to check it out, thanks for the Intel!
Outstanding tutorial.
Great Tutorial! Please tell me how to make a copy using my Brother HL2350 printer.
Thank You
Great and useful video! Thanks!

🤣🤣 exactly
@@thecollegepicker I just SETUP my printer for Wifi. Is it ok to turn off "Deep Sleep" after I do this?
Also do I do the settings to bypass the chip only one time, or do I do it every time I need to bypass the chip?
Just one time. Yeah get deep sleep OFF asap.
Thank you! Great Job!!!! 👍🏻😀
Very good video. I can print with the default deep sleep setting.
Thanks! Oh good glad yours isn't giving issues.
Thanks Christian.
Anytime Allan.
? Excellent video, but accidentally we changed the printer set up to manual paper feed and were able to change it, but not sure how it happened on the first place???
You are so aweome! Your steps worked! You made it so simple and efficient :D
You are very welcome 🤠
Awesome video. So thorough. Covered everything. Thanks man.
Glad it was helpful, I appreciate the kind words =)
Could you make this video for some newer models?
thanks for this video, very helpful BUT I have the printer set up on the same network as my computer/phone/tablet and I took it out of Deep Sleep mode, and the devices cannot find it. It is only working plugged into the computer. please advise thank you!

you are the printer goat ! youre my go to thank you so much, you have helped with another printer yet again :-)
Glad to help thanks 🙏
good video very informative, thx again debating.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi do you have full review of 8360 laser printer of brother ?
Thank you so much.
I have an older Brother printer that works great except now Deep Sleep has just shown on the screen and these instructions don't work when I get to the using the back and down buttons together. Any suggestions?
than you!it's really clear ,help me a lot!!!!
AWESOME, THANK YOU!
thanks so much, you really helped me

Nice tutorial. Didn't know about the hidden Deep Sleep settings. I have an HL-L2370DW connect via ethernet to my LAN, and I was still able to send a print job from Windows 10 to the printer while it was in Deep Sleep. The printer woke up, beeped, and the job printed successfully. Didn't have to touch the power button, so maybe the printer behaves differently on ethernet? Still working on the printer setup in CUPS on my Linux machine - I really shouldn't have to use Brother's .deb package to do this.
Outstanding. Thx.
Misery quotient setting up =0% I love u
I love you too.
Really helpfull for me
Thanks bro
You are welcome bro.
Thanks!
Hi would this printer be able to print shipping labels for eBay ? Would I have to use sticker paper (basically shipping labels?)
Amazing tutorial THANK YOU
Thanks for great tutorial but just one comment about the colour image 'UNBOXING' printed in b&w - there looks to be vertical stripes in print. Any comments?
I was wondering if you could help me with my printer I have a brother I have gone through the steps that you have posted in your video on how to get it out of sleep mode and I make sure that the sleep mode is off and it goes right back to sleep. I’m not sure what to do. Could you please get back with me?
Appreciate it man. Well done
Happy to help. 🙏
