My beautiful classmate from Howard University's School of Music, 1975-1979. R I.P. Geri. We all knew that you were going to take the world by storm because you were an absolute musical genius even then in our late teens/early twenties. You were way more gifted than our professors, who were actually pretty darn good. But we never anticipated the day of your leaving us so soon. I am still grieving, and don't know if it will ever end. Rest well Sis, and I will catch up with you later on the flip side one day. ❤❤

The Genius pianist/ composer has left us in the physical sense- but as always the timeless music will live on. Prayers & thoughts are with Mr. Wallace Roney & family. R.I.P. Geri Allen!

最初のインタビューからもわかるようになんて美しい内面を持った人なんだろうと驚嘆した。
おごりが一切ない。そしてこの音楽への妥協なき姿勢。客が何を求めようと、何を流行として振り回せれていようとこの素晴らしい女性は全くそんなことは思考のどこにもないかのような音。本当の唯一無二のアーティストです。Charles Lroydとのworkも本当に素晴らしかったです。ただ指が速く動くだけのサーカスのようなピアニストばかりがもてはやされている今、この人もMulgrewもいないんだなあ、と見ていて涙が出ました。
