Hey guys from a firefighters perspective I wanted to offer some thoughts on what I would do. Make sure you have a ton of defensible space meaning no major growth preferably bare soil around the cabin build in a large meadow or clear a large area, this all depends on fuel type height load etc it’s worth looking up and into. Look into an exterior fire sprinkler set up even though it’s non combustible fire will warp and destroy it, this way you’ll be able to turn on the sprinklers to the cabin and keep it cool if you have to evacuate. Because of the construction material remoteness and access your going to be written off very quickly think of fire truck access not small vehicle access when you build the road. Just my thoughts…. It’s beautiful out there just some forward thinking because fire is not if… it’s when. Good luck !!! ❤

Also be careful where you park the vehicles. I've seen many a vehicle parked in tall grass burn because of the hot exhaust and hot catalytic convertor starting the grass on fire.

Tick disease can be tough! When I was kid in the 50's, we would go from Texas to Arkansas to the Ozarks strawberry farm belonging to my grandfather. Ticks were bad in those woods! We used rainwater runoff in 55 gallon drums to wash clothes and to bathe with. My granny had a wash tub and heated water on her wood stove for my and my sisters bath. I was the oldest at 8, then 6 and then 3 year old sisters. We had to stand in wash tub and then granny checked and removed the ticks! Lol you'll have to do something similar!

The problem with dogs and bears is that , eventually, the dogs will return to you with the bear in pursuit. Have the dogs wear bear bells on their collars when outdoors to scare them away. I would probably invest in electric tape fencing around your camp area to deter predators . I do this around my camp in northern BC and except for a moose every now and then , the electric tape works pretty well. I love this new adventure. You go Mountain Gurl. :)

they should also put-up motion lights, ( i think they may even have some that make noise too) never leave a single spec of food in the camper and get an outdoor grill. the grill does several things, it keeps the smell of food out of the camper, it keeps the heat from cooking out of the camper, and if they go with charcoal it will keep a few of the bugs away for a few hours.

Fun video today! TICKS 👹👹 Quick tip: we had a tick problem here in AZ. I was opposed to tick collars/dip for our dog so I started feeding him brewer’s yeast tablets every day. Apparently, the B vitamins in the yeast makes the skin distasteful. It really worked and we never had a problem after that. We’d even go camping in the mountains and he’d come home tick-free. He consumed 5-6 tablets/day(he was 100 lbs) and he ate them like they were candy 😊

Maybe there is less chance of running off in the woods getting lost and offering some protection. As the weather gets colder, the wild animals will be searching for food. You can buy things to spray around the area where you guys will mainly ward off ticks.

Note: The wheels and jack are for leveling, run the wheels onto a leveler or piece of wood to level. The jacks are for stabilizing and can damage your camper if you level the camper with them. (Google it, or ask a RV repair shop.)
I ran across your channel on what I assume was day one, when you were wondering if anyone would watch it. You have come a long ways. It looks so much better mowed, and even more so when you get some grass, but some snakes may not be happy... Moving to lithium iron is a great move. You will probably want to add a bit more solar though, even if putting them on the ground. I use portable ones. I am still charging mine with the RV charger when on shore power or generator which charges them to 80% which is a vast improvement, but will change the charger at some point, however we use solar more than shore power.
Rocks offer a lot of possibilities from a fire pit, to using in building, or just decorating.

Hey, we live in a place where ticks are a part of life. Check yourselves every day. Even with off you will still get them. A friend of ours sprayed nematodes in a large area of our property. He has done it the last two Summers. I do not get any bites once they are sprayed. I have alpha-gal from ticks. It can be really serious. I get worse if i get bit more. Watch out for the tick ilnesses. Rocky mountain fever and alpha-gal are very common. You may already do this but keep liquid childrens benadryl around incase of an emergency allergic reaction to insects. It also helps stop the allergic reaction caused by alpha-gal until you can get to a hospital. Not trying to scare you but many people don't know about alpha-gal and go misdiagnosed. The property is beautiful. Praise God!

Great videos. I think I mentioned this before but I can't stress this enough. There is you tube channel called "ambition strikes" of a couple that did what you two are doing now and they have all kinds of situations, and suggestions on their journey up into the mountains. One thing that may be a concern is parking your car in tall grass. The catalytic converter on car gets so hot it may cause a fire. Good luck.

My children have a farm that had lots of ticks and snakes bugs of all types. Their solution was chickens, especially “Guineas”. They free rein them during the day and put them in the pins at night. Also, Spencer might look into some of the hunting channels there’s clothes and products that protect you from ticks. Hope this is helpful.

    RV OVEN SOLUTION !!!!!
When I had an RV a few years back I had the same problem to get the oven to light. The problem that I had was getting the flow of the propane into the oven itself. So what I did was light one of the burners on the top of the oven to get the propane flowing. And then with the top burner, lit and burning, then you should be able to light the oven! I hope this will work for you guys as well as it did for me.
I always enjoy watching your channel !!!! MORE! MORE! MORE!

Now you need to put some posts in the ground and Mount solar powered spot/security lights . They won’t deter bears/ cougars/ coyotes completely but will let them know, plus anything else out there, that new residents are on the property
Plus putting up solar panels to keep things charged will be helpful. Also be sure to take that tractor securely locked up or be ready to take it back and forth. Moth balls will help keep critters at bay also.

Kenzie & Spencer you can buy "Tick" pellet's and put them on the ground to kill them off , they last for about a month or so. Check it out at a local farm shop, that way you are not having to get the tick's off you all the time. Love what Spence has done so far with the property , good luck with the oven & be careful out there, love all the wildlife you have caught on the land, good luck with the horse's Kenzie. 2 things.
    1) The presence of dogs will typically keep wildlife, including bears away.
    2) It's usually recommended to clear about 50 meters (150 ft) in all directions to help protect structures from wildfires.

I'd definitely invest in an electric fence to keep your dogs in and the wildlife out. When you get space cleared and the driveway done I'd suggest a container that you can seal against rain and bugs to store wood. You will need plenty for the wood stove and campfires. If you get dried out properly and stored where bugs and snakes can't hide in it, you could probably store most of a winters wood in a container.

Take some of those big rocks make spencer make you a hole to put around it so you can have a fire do hot dogs and marshmallow on a stick to have Smores with the chocolate Graham cracker. Then I would invest in a iron skillet.and a Dutch oven with a lid you can put meat in it in the fire and if you can find a Metal grade that's heavy with legs on it you can Have hamburgers steaks even chicken on it just don't forget to Spray your iron pants cause the meat will stick, have a good.
