      ... @ Jason, most companies find a person w/the same, or similar, credentials to work for the asking salary. Example: the job offers $100K a year, but the person wants 200K. The company knows they can find another person to hire for the starting salary they're offering ... Jon didn't mention what his PhD major is/was. A gal I use to know earned her MA degree in Missionary work, yet she wondered why she wasn't getting a high pay raise working as a Care Giver. Wall Street isn't going to hire folks with MA or PhD degree in the Arts (acting, ballet, musician, etc).

    What's funniest is what this is exposing on a deeper level.. The fact that these people are able to not only acquire employment. But, that they can remain employed almost indefinitely.. So my question is exactly how much of this "legitimate" educational BS is actually required to do said job? If these people are capable of attaining and consistently performing on a level that's acceptable, then it exposes the fact that it's not about"education", and merely about class separation and the acquisition of money only.. It's a hierarchy that all about the haves and have not's and will strive to continue this inequitable social/class structure..

    OH DAMN!! I attend Seneca College (same campus which the had the interview with the professor) and the professor from Seneca College, Dubravko Zgrablic, was my professor for my Computer Application course. No wonder I didn't learn anything from his class and he didn't know what he was taking about. He pretty much taught the very basics of using computer applications and using Microsoft Office applications.
    I barely passed his class with no learning outcome. All his tests and final exam did not relate to what he taught, I was lost on how to do things cause he didn't teach anything. The material on homework, assignments, test and exam were hard to do. I was expecting that this course will be more in depth and will be learning something but didn't learning anything. My friends who took his class and all other students who took his class said the same thing about what they've learned, nothing! I really wasn't expecting this from my college.

As far as I know, there isn't a lot of opportunity for people to do this in graduate degrees. For some things, like medicine, it makes sense to have them retake courses. As you want to make sure that the person understands the needs of people in that new region. But things like computer science or math don't change country to country.

    I had this teacher at Seneca. I was also thinking If could get my money back. I had him twice for computer courses. He was an ok teacher. Those heavily struggling with the course did seem to find it hard to get help from him. IMO he was organized and gave specific instructions for everything. Due to being a bit on the serious side, I guess students caught a bad vibe from him and focused on all the bad things. I thought he was good and accommodating. He gave lots of bonuses and chances to earn more marks than normal. However I am deeply disappointed and insulted that he used false credentials to teach. Even if his degree was not a factor in the hiring decision. If he doesn't get fired. I may not stay with Seneca. As an institution that teaches the principles of business ethics, keeping this professor would be a serious insult to every student who has rightfully earned their degree and the teachers who worked their asses off to get their job. There are teachers of every corner of the world and yet they still managed to get a job without false credentials, or ... did they...There shouldn't be any tolerance.

      Things such as being organized and providing specific instructions to students are pretty bare minimum traits for a teacher to have. When I read that a teacher with dubious credentials in a post secondary institution is overly lenient giving "lots of bonuses and chances to earn more marks than normal", it makes me wonder if its just a lowkey way to keep students' mouths shut. Students will always be better than any school's hiring dep. at picking up when something is not right with a teacher since they are the ones spending their days trying to learn from him and scrutinizing the material he is trying to teach. So when I read that he was really lenient with marks it seems like its just a way of keep students happy and shutting down anyone digging too deep. After all, a salty student doing poorly in a class is much more likely to stir up trouble for him than a student that feels grateful to him for giving them a high mark.

    • @mvs13I2
      @mvs13I2 7 років тому +5

      Ruo students that aced his courses don't have much to say of course, why take back a good mark? ... I received a great mark from him because I was interested in bus. computer applications before taking the class and I applied myself.The bonuses were part of the assignment, it was there in case you wanted to figure it out and they were difficult, so only those really interested in the material got them. He still gave zero to late assignments and he didn't just give away unearned marks. Occasionally I encountered students who complained as to how hard and confusing these computer classes were no matter what prof. In the end it is the student's responsibility to earn their mark, that's true. I would guess in any post secondary there are mark lenient profs. It just this fraudulent behaviour throws the entire validity of the school's faculty into question, which can affect the image of the school's effectiveness to students' prospective employers should marketplace blow this case up even further. That's what seems unfair. Do you think the school should make a statement?

    • @ultimatenoob3
      @ultimatenoob3 7 років тому +2

      exactly sir.
      Students are constantly pushed to get higher marks, whether they learn or not is not as much of a concern with many of the students.
      Just like the teacher, it is more about what you have on paper.
      So giving them a higher mark just means they won't complain as much about not learning anything, since now atleast they got the mark to "pretend they did learn it".
      the system has inherent flaws.
