It would be helpful to make a video on how exactly you chop your samples. How do you decide where to make the chops? It would be insightful to get a peek into that part of your process
Yea, i have troubles with it
He has.
try to always chop it on the beat (accent) and then go from there; most of the time your chop will work fine like that, sometimes you'll have to move it around a bit, but it'll be way easier if you chop it on the beat. also get a metronome and meditate to that shit haha
i try my best when doing these videos when i sample it live... i do get what youre saying on the topic of what to sample and how to go about sampling... i will cover this topic in a video... for now i will say i dont look for anything in particular its whatever plays on the vinyl that im listening to that catches my ear and then start to take little sound clips...
Thats the art bro ... Figuring out... Experiment... Trying ... Playing around... Creativity... And loving the process ... that's making music! Just go for it ..
Seriously great video and all your extra commentary is just adding so much more. Explaining how you were making your chops at the start of every piano note and how that particular MPC needs to have the drums EQd to make them sound good.
Really great beat and I’m gonna say it again, your timing on playing your drum patterns is so precise. 🔥🔥🔥
thank you as always i really appreciate that... i try to cover everything that goes into the beat
Really Really Great Bro!
I’m Liking How You Are Explaining Things In Detail. Thanks Man.
Dope Beat As Well🔥
appreciate that, thank you... always appreciate the feedback as well, salute
Banger as usual 🫡
appreciate that man thank you, salute my g!!!
Diz man only can satisfied all beat loverz in da world.... I have his some of beat tapes... Each every single beat is banging dope... Hattz off mah bruh... Keep doing.. much respect 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯🤟
appreciate that homie, thank you means a lot, salute!!!
🔥🔥🔥 love them chops. Thanks for the vid
appreciate that thank you
Insightful vid as always & equally insightful is the way in which you record samples into the 2000XL/X/etc…not only does it take an extraordinary amount of time to load your samples & chopping them up accordingly. You’ve also got to deal with sampling time constraints. By sampling the best bits of a 10-30 second sample (instead of recording 10-30 secs worth), there’s less grunt work to do (aside from a little cleaning up on the start & end points of each chop & post production). Digressions aside, yet another winning video!!
appreciate that, thank you.. youre absolutely right. i love both machines they just have their pros and cons to each of them
Always enjoy watching your video.
Never thought the main reason is load time. It would take a lot of time to edit a 4 minute sample in the 2KXL.
And It's interesting to hear your evaluation of the X's sound. I've heard many other guys compare the sound differences between two models. They always said that the X sounds transparent as the original, while the 2KXL "adds" warmth.
However, you're approaching it from the opposite way. I think it's a new and interesting approach.
Great video!
thank you, really appreciate that... the x is thin when sampling the compairson video i have i was so surprised by the wave lengths of the audio you can clearly see the difference never mind hear the difference... the xl sounds exactly what you put into it, it doesnt change the sound really... the xl can also only hold 3 minutes of stereo sample time and 6 min of mono which is a huge factor as well.... its a nightmare to load up a sample in the xl and then go into chop it
Dopeness at its best, Dubs!!
thank you man as always!!! salute
Heat! Thank you for sharing Mr. Dubs!
appreciate the positive feedback
Them vocal chops 🔥
thank you
Glad i came across your channel. I recently started and want to know more hoe to sample , and you did it perfect. No unascarry talks that interupt with soaking it it up , hope that makes sense cuz english isnt my 1st language. Greetings from the netherlands
yeah i understand you, im glad it helped you out... every video i try to bring something new for you to learn...
love the beat homie! the song u sampled is beautiful and the piano chops are top! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
appreciate that my g, thank you... this song bangs all day, this style of music is called boleros if you want to look it up...
definitely will @@dubsbangermusic
What's up BRO. Hope u are well. Great vidz. Thx a lot for these precious information. Personaly would be great a video of how you master your beat. In particular with the mpc 2kxl? THX A lot. 🙏💯👍👍See u soon
thank you so much. you mean like post production master my beat?
Hi Dubs. I feel much better when I listen to this beat. It’s like something unreleased from Cypress Hill, very suitable for a cold ass winter.
man these winters are cold and dangerous out here
Very good chops 🔥
thank you so much!!!
Great video! I’d love to see how you use track mutes and automation to add variation to your beats. 🤘
Sick beat man as always. Awesome chops 👍🏽
appreciate that homie, thank you means a lot, salute!!!
Another great Video and Sample selection 👍 Thank you for sharing to community 🤩 the "phatness" of the 2k and 3k is different.. Back in the days i had a 2kXL and it was another Story. Different as the Live2 that i use today.. Yes is faster and the Technology is another Level. But.. 'na meen 😎
yeah youre absolutely right... love the new machines for their workflow and capabilities just that sound is not there....
We would like to see a tour of your studio.
Hard 🔥
appreciate that homie
@dubsbanger dope man. I have a MPC Live 2 retro and I love cause the work flow is faster but the sound that comes out of my 2000XL and my 2500 is non comparable to it in my opinion.
thats cuz its a fact the sound form your 2000 xl and the 2500 is much better... try sampling a drum break through your audio input through the xl/2500 onto your computer, then do the same for the x where all levels are at zero, youll be able to see the audio difference in the wave length forms... i love my x, im just stating facts that its airy and thin
Super dope!
thank you, i really appreciate that
Great video, Dubs! If you could make a video how you match the bass to the sample, that would be helpful, especially to newbies. Thank you.
i always play it by ear, im not that good when it comes to bass, ive seen people use apps that actually tell you what key your sample is sop you can properly match it with bass...
@@dubsbangermusic 👊
🔥🔥
thanks homie
Brother do another video where you include samples so we can work along. Pls thx!!!!
ill find something interesting and do another one of these for sure
I have an irig 2 and use a Samsung galaxy 23 but I'm having trouble getting it to work to stream my beats. Do you have any suggestions or what do you use to get quality audio when making videos. Thx, g.
for audio i record everything onto my computer, but for live i would suggest a microphone that will be able to pick up certain frequencies... im not too knowledgable for streaming as myself are looking into ways to be able to stream
very inspiring bro. 💣💯💣I'm a beginner when it comes to beat making and I learned a lot from you.
One question, I'm asking this because you own both devices.
the 2000xl and the mpc x
Why does the new one sound so thin? and how exactly can you still make the drums sound fat on the newer mpcs? I bought an MPC one and I think it sounds thin for me and my ears😢
it has to do with the converter chips in the new machines, the materials used to make the new machines are cheap... you can layer a few kicks on top of each other in your global settings in your program... choose three kicks, one that has a heavy thump and that has a meduium frequency which means one that has less thump bass and more of a knock if you know what i mean... layer them up and theyll sound thick... also add air flavor in your effects tabs and choose one that brings out the thump in the drums... let me know how this goes
@@dubsbangermusic Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I'll try this out. I'll get in touch again at some point. See ya
🔥🔥🔥🦾💯
appreciate that, thank you
Make a video where you flip Pedro infante 100 años
i remember you suggested this in my other videos and i actually downloaded it, sounds fuego
Stelvio cipriani - Mary's theme(1969)
Is a good one to
Mixing and mastering on MPC X/Live/ONE, do you use submixes? Do you use XY for variations if yes then how? Do you resample and re-chop your own stuff?
i dont resample and re chop my own stuff, that usually requires you to compose music from scratch which i dont do. I dont mix or master on the mpc X i just do layering and add effects to thicken up the drums. I dont submix on any equipment either, im looking to expand into that though in the future... i just use the box and fat drums, keep it simple
I want to see you make a beat on mpc 500 now that’s a challenge because it chopped by numbers it’s not the new age shit
mpc 500 is a midi controller, i dont use the computer to make beats... i also use the mpc 2000xl which was released in 1999
@@dubsbangermusic lol 😂 mpc 500 isn’t a midi controller bro it’s a mpc I have one
youre right, my mistake, i would definitely upgrade to something that has a better workflow... @@doncutshair
@@dubsbangermusic no doubt but the concept is still the same. That’s the only reason why I didn’t do so yet not saying that I’m not but I’m still learning the process of the MPC because I don’t wanna waste my money and besides, I also work in a digital audio workstation. For instance, you probably could take this 500 and make a fire ass beat in like two minutes I’m still learning the 500 and to be honest is really a learning curve I mean I’ve made beats with it they’re just trash😂
thats ok at the end of the day weve all been there, as long as youre learning with every new beat its a stepping stone. ive youtubed the mpc 500 and it does actually look harder than any other mpc to chop with... after a while youll be able to sample and chop with your eyes closed lol... any questions you may have about sampling and records or whatever dont hesitate homie @@doncutshair
Have you tried the Koala Sampler app??
no i havent but i have seen it and it looks dope af and am actually interested in downloading the app and making beats on it
@@dubsbangermusic apps only $5 plus $4 to add all kinds of extras. It's so worth it to make some bangers on the go for under $10. Would love to see you make some beats on it.
@@dubsbangermusicyeah pls try the app with yout knowledge

Use those preamps bro. No sense in perpetuating this sonics nonsense that's been going around. The X has the best converter chips on the market. They put Burl Brown's in the SE if that says anything. There are multiple shootouts on here of the X dog walking the older units, especially in the low end. Marlow Diggs and Snype Young, specifically. Get yourself a pair of male XLR cables and start using your preamps built into the machine. Peace!
this topics been covered even by easki beats, i have a video on ig comparing the xl sampling and the x sampling, the x is thin af and airy this is already a proven fact... the low end on the x is terrible, you can check my ig for the comparison, also i have a video coming out soon on the comparison live... x is a great machine just sonically its not there like older machines...
@@dubsbangermusicdo you have links of your vids or the sound files from the comparisons? What particular input jacks did you use on each?
look up my instagram, easki ig, and youtube easki video comparison@@badboy69cancer
are you suggesting that the x has different ways to input sample where the converters kick in? if so i am interested @@badboy69cancer
@@dubsbangermusic yes, the preamps are bipassed when using TRS cables on the combination inputs 1/2, as is the case with most combo jacks. They are not bipassed using male XLR's and is a much hotter signal. I'm regards to the RCA jacks, I would bet that they also have preamps and if that is the case, allot of devices are boosted and filtered, but I can't speak for the X, when it comes to the RCA inputs.
