@@smarty1268 The doesn't make sense, The Batman takes place in 2022 and so does Peacemaker and Creature Commandos is not that far off so timeline that doesn't work
Oh point bro! I don't care if reeves batman merge with DCU as long as hes able to tell his stories to the fullest w/o Gunn interventions not caring it'll contradicts with what's happening to DCU n so far he's letting reeves go all out! Respect!
I don’t think Matt Reeves Batman should join the DCU. It makes no sense, especially with his version of Batman being so early in his career and Damien being towards the end of his career.😊
I think we should still go with the definitive answers we got from day one about them being separate. I think he did his best to be vague and not give away any info about the future of DC because that’s what Gunn probably wants from anyone working on any DC projects. People are ridiculous really
You are ridiculous. Staying in the past as things have clearly evolved is silly. If those definitive answers were still true, Reeves wouldn’t have said this. It’s not definitive anymore. Period
@@schizzo8959 because Reeve is not the boss,he said what he might know and he does not know what will happen in the future as he is not James Gunn or Peter ( however it does not make sense )
Hi i don't think he will be the dcu batman because he has no trunks in Reeves universe which the batman in CC has trunks "as said it should make sense" however Robert as he has no trunks and moves to a universe where he puts on trunks will not make sense and we are not ready to wait for 10 years for the batman in dcu so gunn better cast a new actor for dcu batman
I could honestly see it happening, they could play out the crime saga and truly fleshing that out in a trilogy as a prequel , then go more fantastical in a time skip when merging universes.
The only issue with that is that in the DCU metahumas have existed from the beginning, so I’d be kinda weird that didn’t get mentioned at all until the time skip
@slashbash6486 the question is do you have time to wait all that long? "we the fans don't have time to wait for all that" second movie is 2027 so third will be 2032, we just want a new batman for DCU
You know why can't Rob play both versions of Batman. Variants exist in DC Comics. Just used makeup etc to age up Rob and make it clearn in marketing that these are different versions of Batman. MCU already primed average Superhero movie goers with the idea of the multiverse and as long as there not overbearing with it that option could work well. I wouldnt mind another actors take on Bruce either but with the work Rob put into the role I think he should be given some Agency in this decision(as long as Reeve's films arent impacted to heavily)
The Batman join DCU = batman is in the hand both matt reeves and james gunn and i know both will take care of batman character so well. New Batman on DCU = we getting fantastical batman with the batfamily with the new actor. i dont care which one but im happy for both honestly
It would be financially irresponsible to have two different Batmen in cinema airing in a close timeframe, we cab have one or the another and I'm not gonna pick one being directed by a guy who made the Flash flop
@@mr.knightthedetective7435 with WB being on the brink of collapse, one could argue it’s financially irresponsible NOT to have double the Batman movies.
@@5v4al then do Gotham by gaslight or Red Son. We don't need two batmen who are basically the same. Rob can evolve into what they want for the DCU that's the whole point of his batman.
@@vincemastaTRIPLE69420 How do you know they’d be the same? How would a grounded loner Batman be the same as a fantastical Batman with a full Bat family? its really clear that he doesn't want to say that he just dont want it. he doesnt have to deny it. from his answers you can see that he would not like to do it.
@@abombnyy13yes we know they want it but we know reeves doesn’t, furthermore we know Gunn is committed to allowing his creators freedom to tell else world stories
@@mr.milkman3893 Nah after this and everything it should be pretty clear they are working behind the scenes and having a lot of talks if they can make this work
My biggest pet peeve about all this batman talk is the people saying "we can't have two batman's it would be too confusing!" When I'm sure most of them were saying we should give Andrew Garfield another Spiderman movie in the Sony verse at the same time as tom Hollands Spiderman
No, people who favor the previous spider-men likely don’t care for Tom Holland’s version. I personally want a Toby spider-man 4 rather than Tom’s or a reboot with a new actor.
Jesus Boba, is it that far fetched that the DCU Batman story will take place 10 years after the events of The Batman, and in that time Bruce has come across more fantastical things.... It's EXACTLY as in the comics. No difference. Grounded mobsters to Darkseid. THAT'S DC.
Yes in the comics. Not when it's a realistic world much like the real one. There is no room to suddenly thrust aliens and lasers into this Gotham. It literally makes no sense, much like the people who wanted Cavill Superman to meet Bale Batman. Just stop, you children
He said sure I’ll let Him join the DCU…”when I’m done telling my story” you know what that means? Six to eight years from now. That means it’s not happening until reeves concludes his arc and you really think Gunn would wait that out? I doubt it
I agree with you,Boba.I'm not taken anything from Jodie Foster. She's a legend. But that latest season of True Detective was underwhelming. The Golden Globes robbed Kristen Milliotti.
You could say that Foster making something out of a lackluster story is more impressive than Milioti doing a great job with incredible material. But I'm just playing devil's advocate here. I haven't taken the time to check out True Detective, so I really can't say.
I don’t get why everyone is pushing that narrative of fantastical vs grounded Batman has always been able to do both things he investigates both fantastical and grounded villains. Y’all gotta acknowledge that
Reeves' universe does not emphasize a fantastical side; it's simply an earlier interpretation of Batman with a grounded villain. If Reeves joined he'd obviously make Batman more fantastical and get with the program.
@ and why can’t he have movies that are fantastical . And the next be grounded or have both grounded and fantastical moments inside the same film like the character was meant to be
@@SosaDBZhe has said he doesnt want that. And how would the Batman be in the dcu with damian wayne if he hasn’t even met dick grayson? There are three robins before Damian.
@@SosaDBZthis whole “ he’s too grounded to be in the dcu”….. you don’t know jack shit about Batman if you think that. Go back and watch mask of the phantasm or read Batman year one and come and back and tell me that Batman can’t be fantastical and grounded simultaneously.
@EvilMonstrous17 but financially two batman is just worst and it will confuse the normal fans as well they will make an idea to merge Pattinson Batman if Snyder bots will not interfere
The only 1s gonna be confused between the 2 are the Snydercultists... That's what the want people to believe anyway. Whereas we got flash with batfleck after reeves batman.. any1 confused?!
There's no reason to be frustrated. As Boba points out, they've made their decision. Reeves' ambiguity in this interview isn't real. But it creates mystery and suspense, making fans wonder what the future holds. That generates engagement. Hey, we're talking about it, aren't we? Gunn is really good at this social engagement aspect of the marketing machine, and this seems like a part of it. If we knew everything for sure, there's no conversation. But now, with one brief interview, it's back on everyone's minds. That's marketing that money can't buy.
@rottensquid No, my frustration and especially with Boba's is that no matter how many times it was said that Reeves' universe is separate from the DCU, so many people want to debunk it and say it's going to be integrated.
@tonymata8070 would you agree that Reeves could have politely clarified previous quotes in order to put the issue to bed? As someone who doesn't want the universes to merge, I find it odd that he essentially made it worse lol
I think Reeves is being diplomatic in his response. I really do. He recently did a podcast (I believe) where he seemed to imply his vision will continue, and his GG statement about telling the story he wants to tell will include that third film. DCU won't wait for that movie and second bridging series for Batman to eventually appear. If it happens, it happens, but I really hope it doesn't. Even with a massive time jump, I just don't see it being worth it.
I think Reeves more than anything is just being very diplomatic here. He’s always struck me as someone who likes talking about things and possibilities and what if’s, to the point where you wonder if he’s actually interested in something or he just likes entertaining the idea and keeping things open. However, he has said “no” to some of these topics in the past, so like boba says, you do wonder why he didn’t say that again. It’s like he’s been involved in more discussions where he knows there’s a bit more pressure to maybe try and do something with his Batman at some point, and he has to be open to that. Whether that’s based on Supermans success or whatever. Personally I really don’t want it to happen. Keep Battinson separate. Reeve’s world and his vision gains nothing by diluting it with other superheroes. It doesn’t make sense to me why they would want to do it, other than money, which would be a terrible reason from a creative point of view. The “epic crime saga” description tells me that Reeves has no interest in dealing with a wider DCU and he has brought that up a few times recently. I think he’s focused on his universe and that’s a good thing. What happens in the background I don’t know, but at least we have someone like Reeves who we know has a specific style for his Batman which is very grounded, and surely he wouldn’t easily concede that to suddenly being a part of a fantastical universe.
Pattinson is playing 8 years younger in reeves movies. If Gunn wanted he could have the “seasoned fantastical” batman that can meet Superman just be an older battinson and keep reeves projects untouched by setting it in the past
Gonna be honest, didn’t think they would merge until two things changed my mind. The first thing was them delaying Batman until 2027 and the cherry on top was the second thing, Reeves’s recent statement. Matt Reeves has always been intentional with his words and if he doesn’t want to or isn’t going to merge the two he would just say that. So, idk if they have decided already but I do think they are having serious conversations on the reg to see if it will happen.
There is the possibility that Reeves is just tired and/or frustrated at answering the same question yet again (his Batman joining DCU). As a teacher, I can relate. When you've explained something incredibly clearly and people still keep asking the same question, it can be really deflating. It's like people aren't listening and that can be annoying. As someone who follows Batman news closely, it is frustrating when the same thing get asked ad nauseum.
There are only two serious issues with Battinson, and they’re both pretty easily addressed. 1) Reeves’ Batman is too grounded for the DCU, which is why Pattinson should and would most likely portray a different Batman from Gunn’s DCU. 2) Battinson is too slim, which is why I would want him to train and put on some bulk. Everything else is handwringing or unnecessary protectiveness over Reeves’ trilogy. My guess is Gunn is shooting for the best case scenario where he brings both Pattinson and Reeves over to the DCU after the Epic Crime Saga is complete to do it again in the DCU with a new story told the brilliant way that Reeves tells Batman stories.
I think the part everyone is missing here is... everyone keeps asking Matt Reeves have you and James Gunn talked about Pattinson in the DCU. But no one is asking WHEN that conversation took place. We're talking about a possibly 2 year old conversation, we're not talking about right now or anytime recently (I highly doubt). I'm going to dig my heels in the dirt on this. And it's not from not being able to see another POV, but the bottom line is, if they integrate Pattinson into the DCU that's going to END the Reeves-verse. Period. No one in their right mind would think we can just slide Reeves hyper-grounded reality into a fantastical DCU. That's absurd. So we have to END the Reeves verse for the DCU. I"m sorry but I just don't get all this dying on a hill for Robert Pattinson when there are SO many other options. I've never heard anyone say, they loved The Batman "solely" because of Robert Pattinson's portrayal. People loved the 'world' that Reeves created. Pattinson is a great actor, and I'm not taking anything away from him, but he's great ... in THAT role. Also, as the start of this video begin with... who won a Golden Globe? And how many were nominated? And who had a successful spin off show? So, we're not only going to poop all over Reeves world but Collin Farrell, Zoe Kravitz, Christin Militoi, Deidre O'Connell, Barry Keoghan, Jeffrey Wright... ummm, I want to see more of these people and characters! So we're just going to take a big poop on this award winning franchise just to die on a hill of Robert Pattinson as the fantastical DCU Batman.... *sigh* And 'supposedly' this is because WB execs don't want 2 Batman at the same time, the same reason they cancelled Superman & Lois because they didn't want a competing Superman - I understand that because the TONE of S&L is very similar to the DCU Superman. So Yeah, in that case, I totally understand not wanting to Superman. But you're telling me there's going to be 'market confusion' from the color graded, dark, moody, hyper realism Reeves Batman and the much brighter fantastical DCU Batman? Please.
@@SosaDBZ Im aware, been reading comics since 1988. I’m aware. I’m also aware that magical based characters cannot exist in the world made. So in your mind, you can see wonder, woman Aquaman, the flash and Dr. phosphorous running around the Reeves Batman universe?
@@JacxonLRyan how can you say you’ve been reading comics since 1988 and ask that question in the same sentence ? Yes the same way it is is the comics . Batman villans aren’t split up they all know each other
@ How can you not understand the tone a director sets in a film. Under your young misguided view theres no difference between Christopher Nolan TDK trilogy, Zack Snyders DCEU, the Reeves-verse and the DCU. You sound crazy. Hence why Christopher Nolan turned down WB when they asked him to start the DCEU. Why? BECAUSE THE TONE HE SET DOESN’T MATCH FANTASTICAL CHARACTERS! 🤦🏾♂️ Jesus, this isn’t hard to grasp.
Actually now that I think about it I think the reason why I don’t like the idea of Pattinson being the DCU Batman is that is shows that WB isn’t as confident in the DCU as we’d hoped. As in they’d prefer to shoehorn him into the DCU only because it would save them time and money since the universe is already pretty successful. I really hope James keeps to his word and keeps it separate. Because it’ll take a miracle to have it make since to me in terms of tone changes from The Batman to the DCU.
I think Reeves was being political and polite with his comment about the merge. He could have said this or that. But I think his response was implying, “hey, I have a vision, I’d love to finish my story, but at the end of the day. I’m working for these guys (Gunn and Safran), if they want later down the road and want Rob, it’s ultimately their decision. I have to respect that. But as of now, they are respecting me and my journey.” - I clearly believe they will stay and remain separate. It doesn’t make sense world building wise. Nothing in Reeves Batman has told us he can handle DCU’s Clayface, Dr. Phosphorus, Frankenstein, etc. he barely handled tweedle Dee and Dum at the front door of the Iceberg.hahah
I thought last week’s episode of Creature Commandos put to rest the whole Pattinson being the DCU Batman. For Dr. Phosphorus is too fantastical for the kind of Batman movies Reeves wants to make.
Personally I think people are just overanalysing this and we tend to forget people in Hollywood always give vague answers for these questions, I personally just don’t think merging the universes works; between Pattisons age and how long Gunn will want to use Batman for in his universe (we’re talking 8-10 years Robert will be in his late 40s by then) , and Brave and the Bold still being made eventually, and even if they do a MASSIVE time jump which they would HAVE to do in order for Bruce to have Damian Wayne as Robin that in itself would be strange when the Reeves crime saga is having little to no time jumps between projects, I think in people’s excitement at the notion of Pattison being with Superman and other heroes on screen they’re forgetting what’s best for Matt Reeves vision . At the end of the day if Rob is the DCU Batman I’m sure it’ll still be good and as long as we get a worlds finest type film I’ll be happy but I really don’t think it would work,YES I know Batman can start of just grounded then go into fantastical but you’ve got to look at the logistics of Robs age like I Said, as well as how jarring it would seem to the general audience to go from him just fighting regular criminals to leaping around the place throwing batarangs at Darkside, I think establishing a more fantastical Batman right away in Brave and the Bold would make him being with the Justice League feel more natural. Maybe once Part 2 comes out and Robs Batman is closer to the version we know and love in terms of his experience and a clearer Bruce Wayne Batman duality and we get more fantastical gadgets and Sci-Fi I’ll be more on board with it but right now I’m not.
I think most of us can see it's not gonna happen. But here's the thing, this question is gonna keep the subject of the DCU vs the Reeves-verse on minds of the fanbase for a long time. And the best part of that is that it's a fun conversation, as opposed to the conversation about the DCU vs the DCEU, which everyone is just tired of, no matter what side they've taken. This debate is about the future of the DCU, which is what we should all be focusing on. And any position anyone might have about it is a fun one. So I'm happy to see this debate go on, and see people speculate how it could work, or what would be better.
This upsets me. I was so hyped for having two Batman’s because I love both takes of the character and it would just taint both of the ideas that Gunn had for the future if Batman and what reeves wanted to do. But by the time the Batman 2 comes out and when the 3 would be out he def could join the dcu. But I can’t figure out how for example Pattinsons fighting style and just everything about his universe would even fit with something like clayface
It sounds like Mike asked him “if they really pressured you to put him it would you?” And he obviously said “idk we’d just have to figure it out” because I don’t think he wants to merge cause that would relinquish his total creative vision
It was an absolute disgrace that Milioti did not win. Jodie foster did a really good job. But her role, whehter acted or written, was so one dimensional compared to the utter omnilayered masterclass of Sofia Gigante on every level. Great for Colin, travesty that Cristin didn't win. Ok now i can continue the video.
The only reason why I would like Pattinson in DCU is to see a young Batman paired with a young Superman growing through the universe together. A dark sort of confused Batman meeting a beacon of light like Superman would be really cool to see. Otherwise let James Gunn cook
Been waiting for this video! I was a bit gobsmacked by this interview with Reeves, and for the first time, I’m actually starting to wonder if Pattinson really is going to the DCU. It still seems entirely nonsensical to me, and I hope it won’t happen, because I love the Reevesverse so much. BUT…I feel like Matt’s words are really telling, especially when he says this bit: “...it WAS really kind of a story that I WANTED to tell” and “which is the thrust of what I WANTED to do”. To me, the use of past tense of “was” and “wanted” almost indicates that Matt thinks his plans, as he initially imagined them, are no longer going forward, that they are in the past. The psychological road map that Pattinson talked about, the trilogy that Matt envisioned, these are the things that aren't going forward as originally imagined. This is kind of like people who secretly murder their spouses but report them missing to the police. When the police come to interview them about the supposedly “missing” spouse, the killers talk about their spouses in the past tense because they know that they are dead, whereas if they truly thought and hoped the spouses were alive but just missing, they would refer to them in the present tense. Their unconscious use of past tense inadvertently betrays what they already know is true. Of course, that doesn’t mean that Part II isn’t happening. Of course it is, because he says so in the next sentence. But apart from that, as for anything beyond, Matt doesn’t know, and maybe other opportunities have presented themselves in the meantime. Man, I hope not, though…
I dont understand how anyone even wants Pattinsons batman in the DCU, the tones/vibe/universes are super different in way too many ways. Theyre both great respectively, but merging them is such a dumb idea that makes no sense.
I wish Matt Reaves would embrace the fantastical !!! It’s a guy who dresses as a Bat to fight crime suspend Reality right there! I love Batman with all the fantastical and all!!! I think everyone is waiting for a realistic Batman that embraces the fantastical 😍 PS love u Boba!!!!!!
I feel like Batman Part II will determine whether they can integrate Pattinson or not and we will get the casting of the DCU Batman only after Batman Part II releases
It would be pretty cool tho. To see how that Bruce would fight someone like Clayface would be pretty interesting. Would def keep Bruce on his toes teaching him to be much more adaptable
It's all vague answers just for marketing, gets more people talking about it and when the do reveal the new actor playing DCU's Batman, it'll be a bigger thing since there's all this mystery going on now. It comes down to marketing, DC is a business at the end of the day
The DCU and The Batman aren't merging, Reeves is not giving up creative control of his own universe to play by someone else's rules. He only said "maybe" cause he's tired of repeating himself.
I don't feel it's a good idea to merge, first because of creative limiting both Matt reeves and DCU. Also, I would love to see more elsewolds projects.
I think Reeves is simply saying that his Epic Crime Saga will be elseworlds and not tied to the DCU until it's complete. But after that, maybe Robert Pattinson is also willing to be the DCU Batman, even if he's technically playing a different but similar looking version of the character than the one in Reeveesverse, an older more fantastical version, but I doubt it will be exactly the same.
Nothing good comes out of forcing something to be what it never meant to imo. We saw this with Man of Steel, it was meant to be a grounded trilogy but forced to be the foundation of the DCEU, and it just didn’t work. Just keep them separate, I want a comic accurate play boy billionaire Bruce with a batfamily with white eyes. I want them to have a solid plan and to execute it, no retcons and changing things for the sake of it along the way please
I’ve just had a terrible premonition. Whether or not the Batman gets integrated into the DCU won’t matter. The people that are against the outcome that actually happens will end up review-bombing Part Two. I really hope they don’t but now I can’t shake this feeling.
I actually could see Robert Pattinson playing the DCU Batman but not necessary having the Batman he played in reeves movies be the same character. Keep reeves story and universe separate and have him play a more fantastical version of Batman in the DCU, kind of like a live action Kevin Conroy same actor but different iteration of Batman.
Totally agree Boba. I watched True Dectective with my wife. Jodie Foster was good. The series was just ok. But Cristin milioti was a huge surprise and phenomenal. It seems it was the old guard award!
Milioti was robbed for sure. Nightcountry was ok television and frankly so was Jodie foster. She was just ok. Milioti was actually a shocking performance.
About the villain...its has to be a version of hush, the only concrete information that comes from reeves we have is "the seeds are on the first film",the only villain teased besides the joker is hush...so it has to be him...he is also a villain we have never seen on the big screen,so yeah he is suprising
My bringing Batman in creatures commando change everything. Gunn just made it cannon that there is a Batman in dcu. And u can tell that’s a different Batman than Matt reeves .
The project began development when Ben was playing Batman. James Gunn wanted to keep the details of Batman under wraps, so he chose to silhouette the character rather than reveal too much. It's clear that the DC Universe will feature Batman, and Gunn is interested in incorporating a Bat-family, but there is currently no script or active development; it's just an idea at this stage.
As a massive True Detective stan, couldn't agree more Boba! Robbed. Also... agree about these comments, the problem is, why didn't he just say "no, he won't be the DCU Batman, but can't wait to see what Gunn has in store." I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can see this becoming a reality!
I mean if the batman were to join the dcu wouldnt it just be a prequel of sorts since brave and the bold is supposed to be an older bruce. It doesnt have to take place around the same time as creature commandos all that stuff in creature commandos could have just happened later in the timeline. I dont see how this couldnt work. But lets be honest its probably best if its all separate and just have batinson in a multiverse movie as a cameo in the future.
I’m just relieved that they are still going to go ahead and film THE BATMAN 2 this year because that means Greig Fraser will be part of the team. Because I like to quit while I’m ahead, in my hearts of hearts I would love to see LeFranc and her team tackle another character of the Rogues Gallery in a completely different genre instead of a second season for The Peguin. Branching out the world building; to me that’s what a Saga should do.
Based on one movie, idk how people say it doesn’t make sense for Pattinson to be the DCU Batman. First movie was super grounded, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make it more fantastical as they go on. Damian being Robin doesn’t matter either, they can always change canon from the comics and make him the first or second Robin. There isn’t enough set in stone in either universe for it to be impossible
They kinda set a tone in the Reeves film and show. I think just making a new Batman instead of being lazy and taking another one is better. I just don't see this Batman as this guy flying a space ship fighting aliens. Maybe its simpler to keep em in different lanes.
I think you nailed it. Anything is possible, very few things are probable. No matter what, they will work within the existing structures of their own narratives and change characters as needed to fit the story. The Batman is a perfect film to setup either direction. if it does venture into the fantastical, it will be done in the same tone and style as the first Pattinson film. it will be in a grounded and gradual way that doesn’t distract from the story focusing on Bruce Wayne/the Batman as the subject of the film. As the narrator.
I agree. No idea why Jodie won. If the other female lead had I could understand because she was the stand out. Jodie should privately give her award to Miloti
To people who don't understand why Pattinson should join the DCU, it's because Reeves wants to tell his epic crime saga. It just doesn't fit with the fantastical DCU. If Pattinson was DCU Batman, it instantly makes the Damian Wayne, Teen Titans, and other Robin's situation harder to make work given we haven't seen them in the first film and we know Titans is in development.
Once Clayface begins production in the next few months, since Matt Reeves will be producing that DCU movie, I think we'll have a definitive answer by that time as to whether Pattinson will be the DCU's Batman or not.
After Superman comes out and smashes the box office is when we will hear about Battinson joining the DCU. Reeves will still get to do his thing and so on, but business wise and for the future of the overall DC franchise going forward the right thing to do.
pattinson is probably my favorite actor ever so i might be biased, but i’d love to see him go from grounded to a bit larger than life. i don’t think we need a completely grounded or fantastical batman. and i think the person that can bridge that gap is matt reeves
I genuinely just don't think Rob will be the DCU Batman but I also don't think they'll have 2 Batman's at the same time because they seem to have been a bit particular about that kind of thing in the past so I think there's a little collision course there
I don't mind him in the DCU My reasoning is Pattinsons batman is a true detective and even in comics batman never felt to be a part of JL. And it's the same with movies. Him being in DCU means a possibility of Outsiders coming into play.
Hear me out this might be a wild theory but what if this Batman crime saga has gone back to one of the original ideas and has become a prequel series about the DCU Batman. That way if Pattinson wants out they can recast an older actor along with anyone else. I really hope this isn’t the case personally and doubt it to some extent but with the delay of Andy Musketti’s Brave and The Bold i think it’s at least worth considering.
My perspective on this. It all depends on Matt’s View and or How It’s changed and What the script for the Batman pt2 will look like. We already know what clayface looks like in this universe and we know Matt’s approach on villains. I think he truly doesn’t know what the future holds but it’s nothing he’s worried about right now.
I think we will get Matt’s final 2 movies to complete the trilogy by 2027. AND THENNNN Rob will join the DCU for the more fantastical version. I’m down for that
People need to stop insisting on Battinson joining the dcu. Not only is a bad idea because he’s not a dcu kind of Batman, but if Matt reeves is gonna take 5 years between movies it’s good to have another Batman in the meantime.
My new take: DCU Batman and Pattinson Batman will meet one day when there is a multiverse event, and both of them is main character. Joke aside, I just think Matt Reeves doesn't want to completely dismiss the possibility, one of the PR-ish talk. I also think Matt Reeves really doesn't think about it that much, he have much more pressure on cooking The Batman Part 2, because it get delayed too much, now people are thinking "This better to be good".
I think it could absolutely work, a DC universe where each city has a completely different looking setting based around a main hero. Gotham dark and realistic, Metropolis bright and sci Fi. That sounds good to me.
Just because the original plan was for them to be separate, doesn’t mean plans don’t change. Before this Matt and Gunn always said no, now Gunn is radio silent and Matt seems open to it. My guess is that as The Batman franchise has gotten such acclaim and success, and as HBO pushed more and more for spin-offs, they realized that it became too large to juggle two big Batman franchises at the same time and make it work. So Gunn and Reeves may have reached some compromise or agreement where Reeves can tell his story on his own terms but then the DCU can use Pattinson
I can suspend my disbelief continuity wise if it means an extremely high bar of quality. Andy Muschietti’s work on Flash didn’t give me much in the way of confidence for him directing Brave and the Bold.
I loved Nolan's trilogy and really liked Reeves' Batman. But it frustrates me that WB, and now DC Studios, gives directors such leeway with IP that isn't theirs. If it serves the greater good to integrate into a wider universe then the director should do the needful or pack up. DC's ball, DC's rules.
Boba there’s a part where Andy Muschietti said in that same podcast episode that he wouldn’t be surprised if the batman 3 came out before brave and the bold. Do you think maybe they’re letting Matt reeves finish the trilogy he had in mind, then however passing the mantle over to James gunn and Andy to let them continue his story in the DCU? So it would be that they actually are merging battinson with the DCU but having the first trilogy be about young Batman in Matt reeves’ vision and then making the brave and bold (taking place many years after the first trilogy) where as we know he’s an older Batman and has Robin. This would also mean that they don’t have to retcon his past as they could say that all of those things happened in the time between the first trilogy and the brave and the bold. I think it adds up considering all of this coming out at the same time. I know you said Matt reeves has been slow due to personal reasons, and I completely understand that, but what if he has also leaned into the idea I just said earlier and maybe has to rewrite a few things to make it where battinson’s batman being in the DCU in the future isn’t that big of a stretch and also making sure that he doesn’t affect anything else that would happen in the DCU later on, while at the same time leaving that first trilogy in its same grounded tone. This I guess could make it where both Matt reeves and James gunn are satisfied: Matt continuing his vision for the trilogy, and James gunn who in the meantime would be making other DCU projects giving the spotlight to other characters showing their potential without having a Batman yet to overshadow things. Would really appreciate this comment do be included the next discussion video!! Great video Boba!
It would be kinda interesting if Gunn uses Reeve’s Batman as an origin story for his Brave and the Bold. I.e. Pattinson playing him in a flashback. Especially if Jensen Ackles is Batman 🤞🏻
Pattinson deserves his stand alone trilogy!!!

I just want The Batman trilogy and anything else in the Reeves verse to come out I love everything Matt Reeves is doing The Batman was so amazing.
Reeves was asked a what if question and he responded we will have to see where that goes (if that happens).
So, idk if they have decided already but I do think they are having serious conversations on the reg to see if it will happen.
that fact that they're doing the batfamily kinda makes combining the universes impossible

Exactly 💯 % Correct
Thankyou for this video!
He seemed excited to answer the question imo in the actual video of the quote
@uhwaykin
we don't have time to wait 10 years for DCU batman, they better cast a new actor for the role
It's clear that gunn is considering it. The only thing that matters is what gunn says
*sigh*
And 'supposedly' this is because WB execs don't want 2 Batman at the same time, the same reason they cancelled Superman & Lois because they didn't want a competing Superman - I understand that because the TONE of S&L is very similar to the DCU Superman. So Yeah, in that case, I totally understand not wanting to Superman. But you're telling me there's going to be 'market confusion' from the color graded, dark, moody, hyper realism Reeves Batman and the much brighter fantastical DCU Batman? Please.

I’d worry less about the thickness of the shadow and more about the way the batsuit is depicted
Agreed.Golden Globes really robbed Cristin in this instance. And the thing is we don't when she will get this chance again.
The only reason why I would like Pattinson in DCU is to see a young Batman paired with a young Superman growing through the universe together. A dark sort of confused Batman meeting a beacon of light like Superman would be really cool to see. Otherwise let James Gunn cook
They should keep it seperate and MR and JG should say so in a very blunt and clear joint statement. Then never entertain it again!
BUT…I feel like Matt’s words are really telling, especially when he says this bit:
“...it WAS really kind of a story that I WANTED to tell” and “which is the thrust of what I WANTED to do”.
Yeah thats like having CW supergirl be the one for the movies. It sounds cool on paper but somethings are better when kept contained.
Yeah, this tone argument about Batman being too different is dumb since he has always been like that. He's a human in charge of the Justice League

I feel like Batman Part II will determine whether they can integrate Pattinson or not and we will get the casting of the DCU Batman only after Batman Part II releases
We definitely need a new Batman for the DCU. I just can't imagine Pattinson's Batman fighting supervillains like Clayface.
Cope
@kwayneboy1524 With what? Gunn and Reeves aren't merging, I'm sorry. I was one of the ones that wanted it but it's a bad idea tbh. 😭
I hope not, but what if they make a version of Robs Batman a part of the DCU.
@Acidodan we don't have 10 years to wait for what you are suggesting,so they better cast a new actor for Batman in DCU
Milioti was actually a shocking performance.
night country was really, really bad tbh. like shockingly bad writing
If they pull this merge off it can be incredible. Easier said than done though.
About the villain...its has to be a version of hush, the only concrete information that comes from reeves we have is "the seeds are on the first film",the only villain teased besides the joker is hush...so it has to be him...he is also a villain we have never seen on the big screen,so yeah he is suprising
Or Court of Owls will be the big bad
And we're not odd for thinking this. This is Hollywood. Reeves grounded Planet of the Apes with one hell of a war story.
Matt Reeves made talking apes believable I was hoping when he took on the franchise that he would do the less grounded elements of the Batman
he did, contacts that record everything you see is not grounded. He's just starting all the characters at level 1 in The Batman.
@@vincemastaTRIPLE69420exactly he’s in year 2 lmao
@@SosaDBZ Totally. The Batman felt way different than The Dark Knight.
@@vincemastaTRIPLE69420 yeah he is better he does his own training so far and can learn from other masters still
I wouldn’t mind Pattinson getting integrated as long as Matt Reeves still gets his trilogy and he gets to keep his style.
It's funny because Reeves could have simply said no and noted that Gunn is already developing a DCU Batman movie lol
@@kwayneboy1524 Did you even read his comment? he's talking about people like you.
Congratulations, Collin!
you deserve it. 🎉
The gaps between 1&2 makes it makes sense! Plus flash can make any time issue makes sense
I genuinely just don't think Rob will be the DCU Batman but I also don't think they'll have 2 Batman's at the same time because they seem to have been a bit particular about that kind of thing in the past so I think there's a little collision course there
I don't mind him in the DCU
My reasoning is Pattinsons batman is a true detective and even in comics batman never felt to be a part of JL.
And it's the same with movies. Him being in DCU means a possibility of Outsiders coming into play.
I think Pattinson's Batman can easily be integrated IF DONE CORRECTLY and with Love.
If James and Matt are able to do it, then do it.
It wouldn’t be a prequel, The Batman takes place in 2022. If he becomes the DCU Batman all the Batfamily stuff needs to be scrapped
Reeves literally said "idk"
Timothee chalamet with his facial hair really looks like you and I can’t unsee it
Stop 😂😂😂
My perspective on this. It all depends on Matt’s View and or How It’s changed and What the script for the Batman pt2 will look like. We already know what clayface looks like in this universe and we know Matt’s approach on villains. I think he truly doesn’t know what the future holds but it’s nothing he’s worried about right now.
I think we will get Matt’s final 2 movies to complete the trilogy by 2027. AND THENNNN Rob will join the DCU for the more fantastical version. I’m down for that
@mycloudspace1615 there is no way we get part 3 by 2027 when the release date for part 2 is oct 2027..
It's happening. 🦇
Boba there’s a part where Andy Muschietti
said in that same podcast episode that he wouldn’t be surprised if the batman 3 came out before brave and the bold.
