Just love all your bright colours and how beautifully they all merge together. You have saved my sanity with your border technique. I am sight impaired and this looks great on your finished cards.
Cold press paper just means that they didn’t use heat when they pressed it flat. The result is that there is more tooth or texture to the surface. Hot press is when they use heat to press it flat, it kind of irons it and it and has a more smooth surface. 😉 love these cards. So fun and beautiful
Wow...you better have a big cup of tea and a nice chair to read all the lovely comments left by your subscribers if you’re reading all their notes, as you are quite popular. 💕 I love your use of the word “wonkie”, I use it all the time! I’m not one for mixed media cards but yours are a beaute! Thanks for shakin things up!
Hi Sasha, although I have seen these kinds of techniques before , somehow you've done them differently and made them look so much better ! I think it might be your choice and style of stamps that you have used together with your lovely scruffy doodling (as you call it ) 😆 I think it looks really good ! It's given me some more ideas as well 🤔😉😊 Thank you so much for sharing xx
I absolutely love, love love your processes on all your videos! Thank you for being real and explaining things well! You are my new fav! Please continue and thank you for sharing!!
Lovely video.I did not know gauche was water activated like watercolors --- interesting. They are very vibrant colors. Good to know about the pens from Arteza. I do zentangle so I am always looking for pens that work on different papers.
Hi Sasha, great video, love your cards and the hints and tips you give, your doodle edges are really good, I reckon you should have them made into stamps!!, take care. Regards.
Oops! I'm late to the party again Sasha! I can't believe it's been over a year since I added this to my 'watch later' list! I LOVE this technique, your cards are stunning. I need to do a batch of Thank You cards in a hurry so this would be perfect. I had wanted to use up some of my patterned paper stash but I like this idea much better. Though I just had a thought, I could use the paler patterned paper as a background and use stencils to add a bit of colour rather than take it away. The doodling, which I love, would still work as long as the colours are muted enough. Thank you for the inspiration! Clare x
Fab video thanks! Love that you are in the UK so I can get any products rather than be disappointed that they are in USA lol. Subscribed and will catch up on any previous videos x
Hi, 1st time seeing your video! Glad I watched because this is my kind of creating! I love your card panels! They’re so pretty! Thank you for sharing so many tips & tricks! You inspire me to just go & play!!! Love all your doodling!!! 😍 Two thumbs up & subscribed!
Sewing machine oil in your hinges. You don’t need much. 😊🇨🇦. I use that in my tools too. My needle nose pliers were rusting and stuck. They work great now!
Love, love, love these cards. My goal this year is to practice different art forms by making cards to give in bundles to friends and family. I can’t wait to try these. Thank you so much!
I think you’d need to dab off the distress inks and oxides while they are wet. Less water too like you said in the video. When you dry distress inks they become more permanent, so you’d want to lift, then dry. You have some gorgeous stamps! I never buy florals because I don’t think I can colour them. But this works so well with them.
OMG Sasha ýour cards are drop dead gorgeous... UA-cam needs a love button. I love all your videos but this one is amazing. Can't wait for your next video. Cheers from Canada 😊
Adore what you've shared. Thanks for all the great ideas and knowledge about what worked best for you. The Oxides may not work as well, but the Distress inks should be easier. Going to give that a try.
I love these cards. The technique is fun, you are so brave to doodle I’m going to have courage to try as it really makes a difference. Enjoyed this video!! ❤️from🇨🇦
I haven't had the confidence to make my own backgrounds but your video today has made me think I could try, thank you! Must get some water colour paper 😉
@@SashaReade I'm in New Zealand, went looking for Tim Holtz water colour paper but couldn't find any so I'll hunt around on the net. Thank you 🤗 you're very kind.
@@beverlyball6403 My friend Natasha Foote(also on YT) Is in NZ and i think she orders hers from Scrapbook.com in the States. It sounds like it's a bit frustrating to find good papers over there

Great backgrounds Sasha , I love the doodling, It looks really good! lovely cards, I have a lot of those flower dies & didn't think to use them that way, I really must get my paints out & start doodling!! It look great fun!! Thank you.
I had to chuckle, I would guess that there are more than a handful of us that stamp because we share in your struggles 😜. I thought I was the only one that struggled with lines, circles etc. Your cards are top notch girl! Love your thought process and how you created your cards! Thank you 😊
Cold pressed watercolour medium is rough surface as a rule. Hot press is smooth surface. I must give this a try. It looks like fun and so easy to do! Thanks.
Perhaps if you'd use hot press paper (it's smoother than cold press) you're ink lifting might work better? Could be nice to give that a try if you have the hot press paper. Love all the cards you have made, looking forward to give this a try with my watercolors (don't have gouache so it will turn out a bit more transparent I think)
Awe thank you so much. And yes make sure to have a go! Make sure you have a good dark black pen, something that is a bit juicy to get clear doodles. Makes a world of difference
Love the addition of doodles. I never think to do that on cards although I do in my art journals. Hot-pressed watercolour card is smoother than cold-pressed so better for detailed stamps. If you spray the back of the card as well as the front then the card it doesn't curl so much. Tfs your beautiful cards xx
I love that technique and I appreciate some new ideas that I hadn't thought of. Using a stencil for the lift is a great idea. I have used a sponge in a free hand technique, but I love your stencil with the microfiber cloth. I think this would also work really wellbut the crafter's companion watercolor pens. You can get a very intense color with those. I'm going to try it and I will make a video and link to your vid. The metallics are stunning! I'm going to try that with my crafter's companion metallic brush pens because I think they'll be brilliant. Thanks again for all the inspiration! Hi. This is my first time watching one of your videos and I loved it! I just wanted to say that I have heard that you can lay a stencil over the oxide pages, lay a baby wipe over that and run it through a die cutting machine and it pulls up the ink. I haven’t tried it yet but I’ve seen it done!
I love this technique - thanks for sharing! Another one I will be trying out. I have done other types of doodling, but not this. Doodles and stick men are pretty much the extent of my drawing skills!! 😁
Really lovely! Please can you tell me how you were able to die-cut your acetate? I've tried every kind of acetate for diecutting to make stencils but they just warp but never cut through. I've used packaging acetate and superlight acetate, yet no joy! Help me please. Thank you xx
Tip, with the distress oxide leave ,when still wet, stencil in place and spritz with water, leave a few seconds, then blot. To work the ink needs to still be wet x
The hard line of paint along the edges of the card is caused by pooling of the paint. While it's still wet, dry your brush with a paper towel and lightly touch it along the edge. The dry brush will soak up the excess water/paint for a smoother look.
Sasha, lovely technique, so creative and free. I do not do videos but I have vision impairment so I wonder if your ring light or whatever the name is, would be useful to illuminate my work space. Would you list a link for it in your videos? I'd like to try. Won't elevate my artistic endeavors to your level but might decrease my frustrations with poor vision. Thanks ever so much.
Really pretty colours and cards... for the red and and pinkish one i just saw it as a flower without any contour. Will be nice if you can draw petals or just find a stamp that will match (just me thinking)... :)
Great video again. I’m excited to try this technique. Could you spray with a perfect pearls spray (or your homemade version) to give it a metallic shiny look also if you don’t have metallic paints?
Absolutely loved these cards! I’ve just started playing with watercolor and can’t wait to try. I wonder if rather than lifting the color, could you use a white pigment ink with the stencil or would that blend with the watercolor and not show...something to try. Than you SO much for sharing, have truly enjoy your videos!

Nina So Cal it will stain your white ink pad.
@@awenbunny I was thinking more along the lines of using a makeup sponge to 'bop' on the white, wouldn't apply the ink pad directly.
