Hey DD!! This is one beast of an ATV. Given its weight and size, it is pretty nimble though! Thanks for Ur thoughts, encouragement, watching, and commenting!!!
It's a big, heavy , clumsy, thirsty machine. The 660 is a completely different machine as far as handling and power in the next gen. full size Yamaha. You would prefer the midsize Yamaha atv with either the 400 or 450 sizes. They even had a choice of solid or ind. rear suspensions. Lighter and nimble with many names Kodiak, Wolverine, Bigbear all from the years 2000 and up, I love the monsters for towing and plowing, but for riding, midsize is the ticket. Ride on Harvey.
Hey ATV Seat Exchange! It is all that you say, most of all thirsty! It does feel like a first generation machine, normally the newer stuff has a more balanced feeling the ride flows better. For someone who rides, they would understand, not as awkward as the china stuff, but, not as smooth as most of my Honda stuff. I'm not sure if it is staying here or moving out to PA for my son, kind of depends how reliable it is.... Thanks for Ur thoughts, understanding, watching, and commenting!
@@HarveySpooner Somehow Yamaha recreated the horrible ride and handling of a 86-89 Honda trx350 4wd. I've owned a couple and ridden a bunch of them as a test pilot for an atv shop. They do well for what they're built for, just not for joy riding. Get it dependable and let the right person "enjoy" it or trade it toward something you'll have fun with. If you need a plow for it let me know, while everyone is scrambling for machines, Mr. Contrary is scouting up plows and tires. I learned that from my Dad who worked security, whatever's got peoples attention, Ignore it and watch the people. Thanks for the reply, 3 down, one to go.
Honestly you have the coolest collection ever. Wish I knew of a place or website that offers parts (besides engine stuff) for old 3 wheelers. I've noticed Amazon has plastics for any Honda ATC yet nothing for Suzuki. Someone somewhere has to have a set of old plastics laying around willing to part with for a high enough offer. I'm to the point where I might just sell my Suzuki alt 125 and turn around and buy a Honda m125. Letgo has a few in our area. thanks for the upload 👍. I too had someone lurking around my barn the other night. Luckily I have cameras all over. I recommend camera's around in random places where people don't expect. You never know anymore. Thanks again
Hey I love all the bikes but can I ask what your plans are with them all? When you have as many as you do and cant move them all around they are just gonna rott away
Hey Ludvig! I'm like Dr Frankenstein, I love bringing these monsters back to life! Depending on how well this machine runs, it maybe moving to my son's place in PA.... Thanks for Ur thoughts, encouragement, watching, and commenting!!!
It does seem to be a beast of a machine. When you get that stuck you really are stuck! I'll stick to the semi auto shift and 2x4 wheelers. Hair cut and beard trim looks nice. Have a great day!
Thinking about getting a 98 600 from a local dealer, new to quads... What should I look for/ ask about and what would a good starting price be? Looks pretty solid with slight surface rust (expected in WI and it's old enough to drink) only has about 550 miles. I've done minor small engine work and I'm mediocre with a wrench. Thanks for your time.
Hey Hunterman!!! If U found a grizzly 600 with only 500 miles on it, it is going to cost U some $$$ even if it is over 20years old... A grizzly 600 that starts, runs, and moves would be around $1500, less if it is well worn.... I think U found one in pretty mint condition from a dealer, I'm thinking $2500 - $3000... Make sure that 500miles is realy before U spend that kind of coin though...With the youtube videos that are out there, U can do most of what it needs, but, it should not need much!!! Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!! Good Luck!
Hey MuddyThumper!!! I have been thinking about getting an excavator, that would allow for an easy lift and transport of my atvs for sure! Thanks for Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!
I guess what kind of quad you like to ride depends on what kind of trails you like to ride on. I warned you it would be a beast to ride, but the Polaris 700 twin of the early 2000's weighs in at 950 lbs, so a bit heavier. It also makes sense that a 600 cc quad will certainly use more than twice as much fuel than a 250 cc quad will. It is a work horse, but if you need to pull a moose out of the woods during hunting season this is what you want. I wish you luck with it, and keep on playing with all the different quads as it's so much fun to watch.
I have the same atv, one day at idle it shut off and the starter would not engage.. I have checked every ground, relay, safety feature, solenoid, etc and everything is good. I can jump the starter at the solenoid but it will have no spark.. I have noticed the cut-off relay does not click when I hit the start button as well. I switched out the Cdi box and it did not change anything however I did discover while sliding on the left plug to the Cdi my cut-off relay clicked. if I wiggle it and hit the start button the atv will spin over with no spark. I de-pinned the plug and checked the wires everything is good, I'm lost.. I have also searched for broken wires etc. do you think both Cdi boxes are bad? any thoughts? I'll take all the help I can get!
Hey Brandon! On mine, the pulse generator went opened circuit for no good reason, supposedly, the machine was driven into a ditch where it stalled and magically, the pulse generator died. Hard to troubleshoot from a distance, but, I would check fuses and I would make sure that my key switch and handle bar kill switches were working properly.... Ur problem is Y I moved some machines to a 12vdc powered cdi system.... I hope this helps.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
Hey Mark, I put a pint in it, that is normally good for a couple of laps around the property.... 600cc is 3x what I normally ride and it does burn up 3x the gas!!! Thanks for Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!
Harvey get rid of it. Trust me it will not grow on you. Yamaha is my favourite atv but I owned this one for a short while. It is like riding a concrete block.
Hey Harvey! Good stuff. I've go the same ATV. Picked up cheap and starting to get going. If you have not found it yet, check out www.maultechatv.com/techguides/Service%20Manuals/YAMAHA/Grizzly%20600%20YFM600.pdf
Hey JB, U R right, whenever I work on or ride something that is not a Honda, I end up disappointed! Thanks for Ur thoughts, encouragement, watching, and commenting!!!
I have the same Grizzly. It's AWESOME for the trails around my property. Love a Grizzly. ❤️
What a tank that thing is Harvey. Would make a great workhorse for sure. Great video we enjoy em all.
Take care,
DD

Looks like a great candidate for the new driveway plough
Great to see you driving a formerly dead machine. Hope you makes profit on that one!

Looking for a carburetor for my 1998 grizzly. I looked on eBay there’s one called Zoom is that a good carburetor?
Thinking about getting a 98 600 from a local dealer, new to quads...

Harvey, you need a crane soon to lift the bikes out of the way haha!

We love ur videos, Harvey. Mm...it appears at some point some of those project atv's need to get sold, correct?
the cvt transmission takes a little getting used too..
