Legendary Jake E. Lee Solos

  • *I made this compilation months ago but copy claims completely butchered and destroyed half the video so... here's what's left I guess. I think the Lightning Strikes, Secret Loser, Never Know Why, and the Killer of Giant's solos definitely got cut as well as some others. Sorry y'all.*
There aren't enough die-hard Jake E. Lee fans and I'm sick of it. Y'all need to listen to these solos, listen to the albums (the ORIGINAL master of BATM not that abomination "remaster" where they cut some of his leads and mixed him lower), and check out some Badlands tunes too cause there be some good shit there. I also dig some of the more recent Red Dragon Cartel material. Solid riffs and leads as always.
This is by no means a comprehensive collection of live solos these are just some of my favorites. Many greats were omitted and some studio tracks with fantastic playing were never played live either. In particular, I left out Shot in the Dark and The Ultimate Sin because the camera work/cinematography totally robbed him of his due glory and I couldn't subject you to that frustration.
I don't own any of this, I just love his playing and I feel he is criminally underrated. I'm so sick of Randy and Zakk fans dissing him. He deserves way more respect than he's given because he's a fucking monster.
Hopefully this doesn't get blocked. Here are sources I used, and I ESPECIALLY recommend that Dortmund concert. Carmine Appice is a guest drummer and the band is totally on fire:
    • Ozzy Osbourne/Jake E L...
    • Ozzy Osbourne - Salt L...
    • Video
Btw the thumbnail is kinda a silly mashup meme I made of Jake and Robert E Lee lol... just thought it was funny and looked cool, obviously Jake isn't a piece of shit and I don't seriously associate him with that. Be civil and positive towards each other in the comments or gtfo. Spread the gospel of Jake my friends.

Everyone automatically goes to the Randy Rhoad’s solo’s (or Zack Wilde) when talking about Ozzy’s guitar players but Bark at the Moon has some of the best written solo’s that you’ll ever hear.
Jake E Lee is so underrated.

@@michaelmiglino6512 craziest part about Jake’s playing imo is whenever he does those crazy tricks like the harmonics and pulling the neck and pressing the string behind the nut and releasing it while also pushing the neck making dive bombs without a bar. And he was and is extremely technical down to the tonal effect of using different kinds of batteries in a pedal board, or slanting his pickups to match how Jimi Hendrix had his pickups just to get ‘slightly more fat sounding’ bottom strings and ‘slightly more bite’ from the wound strings. Randy’s the neoclassical guitar lord, Jake’s the mad scientist guitar ninja who partly reminds me of the other 80s shredders of the time, but yet he’s just different for some reason. He’s better than an 80s shredder, and Zakk’s the chicken pickin blues viking.

Randy Rhoads was my favorite. Saw him on the "Diary of a Madman" tour. Also got to see the badass Jake E Lee on the "Bark at the Moon" tour. That tour was the only time I saw Motley Crue live as they opened the show. Never liked Motley and they were lousy that night. I also swear that I heard no Bass during that performance. Tommy Lee showed promise, but I mostly heard Mick Mars' third-rate guitar playing and Vince Neil's whiny vocals. Turned me off of them for good that night in 1984...

A true musician that was giving every shredder back in the day a run for their money, even Yngwie, because Jake was an overall well rounded player and never stuck to some certain style or technique that categorized him. Jake was in a category all in his own and that's what every guitar player strives to accomplish in the end. Good for you Jake, you reached that area only few have been.

Jakes command of the fretboard is at an all time high here. Saw him on the TUS tour and Jake was mind blowing, at the top of his game. At that show at the Worcester centrum in Massachusetts, he got pulled into the crowd guitar and all after he dangled his guitar neck out over the crowd during the solo to 'I don't know'. Bodyguards and security rushed in and eventually got him back up on stage. He tried to resume the solo where he left off, however his guitar was horribly out of tune. He took off his guitar at that point and threw it clear across the stage where it slid up underneath a drum riser whilst feeding back at about 120 DB. There was about a five minute clap along with Bass and Drums until he finally reappeared with another guitar, and just slayed the remainder of the show. Every once in a while, Jake would walk up to the area of the stage where the mishap took place and flip a bird to the guy or guys that pulled him off stage,,,all while shredding solos out note for note.
What a magical time. I'll never forget it.

Hi, Eric. You know man, I have already tried to like Motley by listening to their stuffs, but honestly I did not like this band. Sometimes the song begins ok with cool riffs, some good progression but then it gets the most boring thing for me. Don't like the vocal nor the instrumental parts in general. Whenever I see or hear someone saying that likes Motley Crue I always ask myself: what do people feel of good in their music that I just cannot achieve and notice?

    • @SonicVR12
      @SonicVR12 2 роки тому

@alexander fernandes valu I can understand you're perspective. I don't think critically, most people are going to say Motley are the most talented, skilled musicians or band. It's really all about the feeling they create. They've always kind of been a band that the total is more than the sum of its parts. If it's not something you're into, then you probably never will be. That's ok. I will say I find the older records more interesting and fun and easy to get into. Then it became more certain songs than entire records, which I think kind of supports your commennt...comment... moments, then lose interest. The Corabi record was the best thing they did after awhile. And honestly, I lost interest by the time their newest material came out. But for me, those first two records were just pure magic.

I think he was better than Zakk when he was in his prime for sure. But Zakk has actually improved quiteeee a bit in the last decade and he is like Insanely good these days. Just time warping licks. But with that said, Jake's phrasing still speaks to me more and while like... ever so slightly slower comparing Zakk today vs Jake in his prime, Jake just had way cooler licks and still a much more diverse bag of tricks. I think he had a larger melodic and harmonic vocabulary, if you will. It's almost a silly argument though lol. I have so much love and respect for them both. I really hope Jake gets his chops 111% back though. He might not be feeling he needs to... like he certainly doesn't have anything to prove. But I think he totally could. His song writing is still totally on point.

Well done, always one of my favourites. Did Randy and Tony proud. Has the utmost respect from Zakk.....Watching Jake is like a master class in 1980s Rock guitar techniques, although he always managed to do it "his way."....Especially the "I don't need a stinkin' Floyd Rose Bag of Tricks" he was forever conjuring up. One interesting example was one thing you pointed out called "chromatic sweeps."...Well I get what you mean, but this is where things get interesting with Jake. Back in the day "Sweep" picking was also known as "string raking." This was before Ynqwie hit the scene big and made it mandatory technique. Jake says in an interview that when he was really getting into guitar he stumbled across an article about something called "circular picking"...Of course that was more or less economy picking or alternate picking. ....BUT....Jake read the article wrong. (his words) He took it as you were supposed to move the ENTIRE hand in a circular "sweeping" motion. It sounds different and looks different. It sounds different because while he is moving his pick he is hitting different harmonic frequencies rather than picking at only one spot. (sort of pick harmonic territory). It looks different because the whole hand moves in a circular motion. He does it in his "Big Solo and also as well as on other solo's. ....When he finally hit it big with Ozzy, players and interviewers would ask about his "sweep picking" technique. Jake was puzzled as he didn't think he did it. Then they pointed out to him his technique that he called "circular picking" (which was actually wrong)...."Oh, you mean THAT" Jake replied. But he had perfected it by this point and was a part of his bag of tricks....So he went along with calling it "sweeping" and said it was his funny way of "sweep picking" even though it was totally by accident.....Isn't Jake awesome?. I have typed enough for now, but one day we can talk about his "thumb on the fretboard technique" and where that came from...(Hint, it is all warren DeMartini's fault...haha)...cheers, Subscribed , thanks for listening.
