Janet is ready for an individual journey while Brad is hoping for a 'couple' journey. That shows how Brad and Janet are so different from each other that you can sense where their going to end up.

It was available on the Blu Ray, but Janet sings the song differently here, particularly the beginning of the song (the way she sings "night" is completely different). Fans are actually much more used to how its been sung for 40 years in the original. I wonder how many noticed that.

But this version is SO different, even the backing vocals are different. I'm so confused as to which version of this DVD I should buy. My VHS wore out YEARS ago and I want to replace it.....any suggestions?
+kmfdm10392 Yeah, I've never actually watched this whole version with different songs. I just knew this song was different and as a fan, you can obviously tell. Here's the way I see it: I own the 25th anniversary DVD from I think 2000. That one's pretty good, as its got some good bonus features, both the UK and US versions of the film (so Super Heroes and no Super Heroes), and it was lovingly made. That was the best package of the film put out to date. They stepped it up for the Blu Ray, with better picture and allegedly better sound, but I think most of the extras are maybe the same. Maybe a new 35th anniversary special but thats about it. And of course, the soundtrack is slightly changed so thats a big chance for some. The way I see it, get the 25th anniversary DVD. It plays just fine and its a very good transfer. The Blu Ray may look and sound a bit better, but not enough that it really matters and the soundtrack change kind of ruins that one for me. That DVD and Blu Ray are the only two best options I know to buy, and I'd stick with the DVD which is all the original you'll remember.

When re-released in 2000, there were many subtle (and not so subtle) changes as far as the audio track was concerned. Most notably is this song. On the soundtrack, the backing vocals are lush and full, very choral. Well, with the 2000 edition, they completely remixed the audio tracks to be more on par with what was theatrically released, and that's how it's meant to sound. Anyway, they get around to remixing the Blu-Ray tracks and they accidentally used an outtake track for Janet instead of the one we've known for years. That's the main thing here. However, for someone, like you and I, who owned the tape with the Soundtrack tracks, we're going to pick up on any changes right away.

I noticed that Riff Raff's voice is rather nasty, BUT, on the other hand, it was he who had the most powerful lines and the most wonderful sound (Science fiction/Double feature is the best instance)
There is something very powerful about Riff Raff's part in this song. It's one of my favorite musical moments in the whole film.
