We have these kind of street foods in Indonesia too! It's popular among students because it's cheap, you can get it for 500/1000 rupiah each which is around 0.049SGD/0.098SGD. There are 2 kinds of eggs, Quail and Chicken. I used to buy it and give a spicy sauce before it finishes cooking, it tastes so good.
It's more like "tearing" rather than "cracking" quaill eggs are much more feeble than chicken eggs but in exchange their membrane is a bit troublesome... Combined with how small they are you can imagine just how much effort you need to "crack" them open... =_=
In my elementary school, they sell quail egg too but they mix the yolk and the white and they add with leek, onion, and seasoning then they packed it with wrapped paper and add sauce and ketcup in top of it. Hmm I really want it and it remind me my childhood
Omg I moved to US as a kid so my vocab was limited. I remember eating these alot as a kid but didn't know what the translation is to English and you just helped me realized it. Thank you! I can ask for these again when I come back to asia to see families lol
I buy quail eggs locally. :) I feed the shell, and sometimes the whole egg to my dogs, and i use them to make breakfast sandwiches because they're the perfect size :)
Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "how to get quail to lay eggs" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a good exclusive guide for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.
Here in the Philippines, we just put it in the boiling water. After that when the egg was cooked, we will dip it in salt just a little bit then EAT IT!
in Indonesian it has become commonplace, often in elementary school canteens, sometimes when cooked it is given enough salt and chopped green onions that make it taste better and that alone is enough especially with chili sauce to be even better and certainly very cheap , I call it ndog puyuh
I'm dying to know what kinds of sauce and seasonings available there. Just curious, hihihi. Maybe I can do it myself at home since they didn't sell it like this in my country.
No to me, I had quail eggs at Taipei Shilin market on vacation, they taste like chicken eggs. You can get high quality eggs at most USA stores if you pay more, free range or organic. The street quail eggs also made my stomach grumbly but nothing worse, I think all the handling from production to street cooking is more susceptible to bacterial contamination. Westerners are used to really clean processing of eggs. There are other really delicious things in Taiwan night market, I suggest the baked pork and green onion buns.
I love boiled quail eggs - the yolk is much more flavourful than chicken eggs but my boyfriend has never tasted it before cos he lives in Sarawak. Don't eat too much though cos the cholesterol level is much higher. Cholesterol levels in quail egg are about 844 mg/ 100 g while chicken egg contains 372 mg/ 100g.
My childhood food , i always buy like this in a past. But sadly now its rare to see quail egg street food. Now there is use chicken egg mix with flour🤣🤣
kind of interesting to see. I like the way this is filmed. this is something I'd want to watch in person but would be shy to stand there for 5 minutes observing. I like how there's no explanation or talking, because it's really not necessary. Though I am wondering where all those eggs come from, and if the place is considered hygienic or not.
Please never stop making these. Your videos are so entertaining to watch!!

I suppose after the first few thousand anyone would become rather proficient at cracking those. 😲😅
Boring job, i think
I think after maybe 5 eggs I'd get into the flow of it and could do it without focusing.
but yeah this would get boring very quickly.
I bet if someone ever got a shell in there egg they would get a prize
you bet.

This channel is literally so relaxing to watch.
Singapore maybe a great country but what we lose in other Asian countries is the street food and low prices, I'm jealous of the food and the prices
Hawker food is technically street food and is quite affordable. Plus, there's a wide array of food to choose from.
