Thank goodness you did this tutorial. I love this quilt and I bought the pattern from your shop. Without this video I would have been lost! Read the pattern, watch the video, cut and sew, repeat 🙂
I have NEVER tried my hand at quilting ever, when yesterday, I quite by accident came across you video making the winter solstice quilt. I absolutely fell in love with your tutoring style. Your work is truly magical and I've been watching your tutorials non stop. You have truly inspired me to go ahead and try my hand at creating colourful quilting magic. Bless you
This pattern is beautiful. It reminds me of the pattern "Day Break" in how the blocks combine to make large and small stars. I do think that the stars may all be larger than the ones in "Day Break". Thanks for all the work you do. I have been watching your videos since the beginning, except for a break of a few years. I am a big fan.
You are by far my most favorite quilting teacher because everything you do makes it so, so doable. I am itching to get to my sewing machine but have to wait until after Christmas when my quilting room won't be set up for my granddaughter's stay.
I love this quilt, the colors are gorgeous. However, I wish you would have shown the sewing, and then the trimming, of the rows to create the quilt top.
Your way of doing the snowball is something that people with machines with laser lights can do easily without the blue tape. Many Brothers/Babylocks and the Epic 2 have it. Wish they all had it.
Another great help is Diagonal seam tape from Cluck CLUCK Sew. Same idea as Donna's tape, but better accuracy for me in making half-square triangles and snow-balling corners, etc.
Beautiful quilt and your color choices were fantastic Donna! I don't think I would've had the courage to try this pattern if I had not watched your tutorial. It makes a HUGE difference for me when I can watch you construct the blocks and put the quilt together. I'm a very visual learner when it comes to quilting.... patterns make more sense to me AFTER I've watched you do it first! Your tutorials are a blessing for me because you're a gifted teacher.... THANK YOU DONNA! ~~Christy~~
Good Morning Donna! It is 3:36 a.m. here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is the second tutorial of your that I have watched this morning. I just love listening to and learning from your quilting tutorials. I watched this tutorial quite some time ago, and truly loved the experience and the Winter Solstice quilt made. While I had good intention then, I never did actually follow through and get this simply beautiful work of art made. 2024 is a new year and I am making a new goal list with this quilt near the top of my PLAY DAY PROJECTS 2024. I have decided that using QUILTING as my "reward to self" for the fulfillment of one major phase in one of my HONOR ROLL PROJECT/s 2024 will help. Increased productivity, contribution, and play days are what I am committing to for 2024. In my eyes, The Jordan Fabrics Team is a perfect example of how one family' can establish a work-life balance and lifestyle that is about self leadership and healthy corporate teamwork that can and does accomplish its personal, family, and business work. I applaud your dedication, talents, and work ethic and am grateful for the beauty, encouragement, and example to be found at Jordan Fabrics. You have my sincere heartfelt best wishes to you all for a happy, healthy, safe and prosperous 2024. Sincerely, Anita Jonsson
Watched this again as I never get tired of seeing the process. Gorgeous pattern and colors. Looks complicated but you always find a way to demystify it🥰👏🏻 thanks again, Donna
I love this quilt. I was so excited to try it and bought the pattern. I must say I find the pattern VERY difficult to follow. The directions to me are not clear at all. Confusion struck when my granddaughter moved some of the pieces and trying to get them in order again was brutal! I have made Cozy Quilt designs before and have yet has a hard time following ANY pattern. This one was for sure one I will not so again! Tank You for this video .I need it to help me follow somehow to get this done!
Loved the choice of colors. Thank you for another great tutorial… every time I see your videos makes me want to jump to my sewing machine and make what you just showed us!
Hi, Donna! I'm not a quilter, but I love what you can make AND you're FANTASTIC at it! You make it look so easy that I love to watch you work! So fun! Hope all's going well there and I wish you continued good fortune on your UA-cam channel! Bravo to a job well done! Fascinating work!
I just want to say you are such good teacher, you explain things very well. I am just getting started, every time I do half triangles all my blocks would be off and points would not match. I figure I needed special ruler and better iron. I will try again. I see what I am doing wrong by watching your videos. I just wanted to say I am learning a lot.
I saw the video and it shouted Daniela Stout design. I love when you make her designs, sometimes her techniques are a little tricky for visual learners.
Freezing rain right now in Maine. Did my farm chores and now enjoying a cup of tea, close to the wood stove and about to watch The Best Quilting in my opinion. Now….push the start button. Thanks Donna and crew.
I voted for this quilt and bought the pattern since the winter solstice is my birthday! It seems appropriate to make this quilt for me sometime soon. Thanks for all your videos. They are very helpful. Phyllis
You know... if I owned a place like Jordan Fabrics, I might be able to make a pretty quilt as well! Just imagine the ability to choose whatever you want, whenever you want. I doubt I would be anywhere near as good as Donna in choosing colors though! In this tutorial, I LOVE the outer border and feel that this really showcases the quilt. Imagine it in a darker border... nah... This is so beautiful! I always forget that your giveaway is a different quilt... but this one is a beauty as well. I'd be happy with either one, knowing that Donna made it AND, my birthday IS the winter solstice... I ordered this ruler, but geez, there are so many fun quilts to use it on, I can't make up my mind!
Beautiful colors! Sometimes it's nice to make a simple pattern, but then sometimes I like to tackle something like this which is more labor intensive like this one. Gorgeous quilt.
Such a beautiful quilt. I am a "newbie" quilter and have learned a GREAT DEAL from your videos. I buy pretty regularly from you via online. I am on the East coast and I get my orders fast, thank you. This quilt is a bit out of my skill range but I have bookmarked it for later once I become more confident in my abilities. Thank you so much Donna and Matt for everything.
So glad I found you, I have had this pattern as a kit with batik 2" strips for a few years and could not figure out how to put it together since the original video was 9 years ago using Christmas fabrics. thanks again, you're the best.
Thank you so much for this video! I LOVE Cozy patterns and have made many. I bought this one a few years ago but every time I look at it I think "too hard!" and flip to the next. You've made me feel much better about approaching it. (Also I love watching you pick fabrics - I'm agog at your store inventory.). Thanks again. - Lisa
I just love your pick of colors on any quilt you have done .You are brilliant at picking fabrics for the design ! Love the colors used on this one its fabulous !
This is absolutely lovely. I pay particular attention to your explanation and choice of colors and fabric. Thank you for pairing suggestions in your emails!! Watching your videos has taught me to enjoy quilting as well as learning. Thank you.
I just discovered your UA-cam channel. I have purchased so many fabrics from your shop over the years on eBay. This quilt is beautiful and I hope to make it this weekend. Thanks for the great tutorial! I'm so glad I found your channel!!! 😊
Donna I have learned so much from watching your tutorials. You are a gifted teacher!! By breaking a pattern down and explaining each step (even to the ironing so that the pieces nest) you make the most difficult project look manageable. Thank you.
Wow Donna I love this quilt, but for me it may be a little challenging. I love how you demonstrate the pressing and showing how the blocks can easily get stretched out of shape. I may try and tackle this one at a later date when I gain more confidence. Thank you!
What a beautiful quilt that you have shown us today. The colors are so beautifully put together. Thank you for posting this video. By the way I like your outfit very much, pink top and light jeans. It is a beautiful pink. God bless.
Gorgeous, this is the prettiest quilt I have seen. Thank you for taking me along for the adventure. It's too challenging for me but Thank you for sharing.❤
I am joining the throng praising this tutorial - your color choices, pattern choice and layout! A beautiful quilt, and I am thinking that there are many combinations that will do this quilt justice! Thank you so much!!
Lovely quilt. The white batik outer border is beautiful. I don't quilt, but this pattern seems like it would be a bit advanced for a beginner. It's great that you've done this tutorial as an adjunct to the written instructions.
I’m very glad most people chose Winter Solstice for this tutorial, and I love the colours in which you chose to make it Donna (except for the pale peaches & yellows… just not my fave with the other cool watercolours). Thanks for another beautiful quilt tutorial!!
I love the final product on this pattern. I think I would be very confused about this pattern, if not for Donna's excellent tutorials. Side note, I would have kept the pink strips in from the jelly roll and removed the lavender, I love pink, purple and turquoise together. Another job well done Donna, thank you!!
Now we need one in reds, yellows and oranges to be the Summer Solstice.
Thank goodness you did this tutorial. I love this quilt and I bought the pattern from your shop. Without this video I would have been lost! Read the pattern, watch the video, cut and sew, repeat 🙂
I have to comment, I could sit and watch that quilting machine for hours 🥰
I have NEVER tried my hand at quilting ever, when yesterday, I quite by accident came across you video making the winter solstice quilt. I absolutely fell in love with your tutoring style. Your work is truly magical and I've been watching your tutorials non stop. You have truly inspired me to go ahead and try my hand at creating colourful quilting magic. Bless you
Donna, you always teach so well. Pick a [prominent] fabric that you like. So basic, but so important. Fundamentals matter. Thank you.
Love that Winter Solstice
💕 the winter solstice quilt.

I agree! Patterns that look so HARD to me, she breaks it down and shows that it really isn't! She makes me brave!
Another great quilt, another cute manicure. Not sure which to try first.

Hi 👋 Theresa how are you doing?

I figure I needed special ruler and better iron. I will try again. I see what I am doing wrong by watching your videos. I just wanted to say I am learning a lot.
It takes a bit of practice, and not all my points match either! Stick with it and you will see improvement!
I pick out a color thread before you do and 90% of the time I have picked the same one you do !!! Haha
Another winner!! Also your nails look festive, and for us Oregonian, please open your store, even if for just a few hours a day!
I saw the video and it shouted Daniela Stout design. I love when you make her designs, sometimes her techniques are a little tricky for visual learners.
