The problem is that BBC Earth Coins keeps pumping out bad content devoid of any real facts. They hit on a few things but are totally clueless on the context. They confused the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial penny with the shield penny backing which they switched to a few years later.

Terrible video devoid of any real facts barring the zinc composition which BTW they transitioned to in 1982. The video isn't even in sync with the dialogue. This is a mass produced common coin made in the billions. You also mixed up the 2009 Lincoln designs with the union shield backing that they switched to a few years later.

Yup, 99.9999% of circulated coins from 1965 to present cost far more to grade, ship, etc. than they will ever be worth.
