    You have made an excellent video being 5 years down the track with a bike. I am four years with my 2020 KTM 790 and recently did a 6000km adventure ride from Walpole to Karratha in Western Australia. To be honest it took me 4 years to trust a bike that will take me that far into remote areas without problems. The KTM 790adventure R did that without an issue except for a small gasket leak on the thermostat housing. Must say I love the bike as you do, but does have minor issues that could be improved on.

      Yes, it does have minor issues. But it is something else when it comes to riding off pavement.

    Great video. Nice description of your experience with 790 Adv. Your video make my day better 👍🏻

    I love my 2019 790R. I've got over 32,000 miles on it. So far it has been mechanically perfect. My only real complaint is the bodywork. It should have been more like the 950/990 and give better coverage. I bought the rear shock protector from Camel ADV. Cheers

      You and I agree, would love more of a 950/990 look. Maybe that's what the next series will look like.

    Hi. I have a 790 from 2020 and I still think it's perfect for me. I have short legs and the S model was the best option. What bag do you have on your handlebars?

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  6 місяців тому

      That bag is an old style Sony camcorder bag made by Case Logic. As far as I know they are discontinued. It is attached with zip ties to the handlebars. I have one for each bike, they are perfect for spare action cameras, batteries.

    hello, I thought i recognized the alvord in your intro shots! My 890 is in the shop at 6k miles, lots of metal in the oil. Have you noticed excessive metal in your filters?

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  7 місяців тому

      Wow, scary. No metal at all in my filters. I will do an oil change in a month, will pay extra attention. I've heard of a soft camshaft on these motors.

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  7 місяців тому

      I've heard about the soft camshafts as I had finalized the editing of the video, so I only added text as a caption. I've also heard of issues with the electronics. I'm knocking on wood...

      @@idratherberiding3456 I've had no electronics issues, but dust in the air box, leaking valve cover and metal in oil are my gremlins. Keep a close eye on your air filter and airbox.

      I have a 22890adv, I push the motor hard but change my filters and oil at 4-4.5k miles with motorex. I had initial and predictable small material at breakin, 600miles. But none since and I have 26000 miles, 50/50. My oem timing chain tensioner sounds like a dirt track tensioner upgrade….Im also in a corrosive environment on the gulf coast and its been superb at resisting ocean salt spray. I do hose it down before putting er in the stable of coarse. When KTM releases the 990adv, Im already on the list. I love the 1290 soon ti be 1390SAS bit its more and adventure sport tourer. To big for my purpose.

    I got 20k on this bike. Not even r model, and only problems I had with this bike were bent brake pedal and skid plate. I hit that pedal on the tree stump and almost broke my toe. Skid plate got damaged when I git stuck on the top of the fallen tree and tried to go back and forth . Besides that, no problems. I take it to the single track all the time in Ontario, Canada

    Hi there, good video
    How many kms have you done in total?
    I have read alot about the cam failures of the 790, have you had any issues or have you checked your bike for that?

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  7 місяців тому

      It has 4000 kms, basically all on dirt.

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  7 місяців тому

      Oh, and about the cam failures, I have it in a short text caption on the video, as I came across a few videos showing it. I'm not sure my motorcycle has this problem, but I change oil much more frequently than it is recommended by the manual. Not sure that this prevents any problems. But I change its oil frequently.
