How about this bike from BMW? The F450GS Concept
The F450 GS concept seems to have energized the adventure rider community. I want to know more about this bike, making a video about it helped some. I'm on a quest for a small adventure motorcycle, and this F450GS could be it. Time will tell.

Is this the last LARGE adventure motorcycle you can buy today? I rode the 2024 BMW 1300GS
Переглядів 239Місяць тому
Few motorcycles captivate the attention of riders as the BMW large GS bikes do. With the 1300GS, BMW created a more complete motorcycle, aiming to keep up with the increasing competition, where horse power has gone up to the superbike level. Does BMW accomplish it with the 1300GS, while keeping the boxer motor and its adventure capacity? In this video I attempt to answer this question.
My thoughts on the 2025 BMW GSA
Переглядів 16 тис.6 місяців тому
In this video I talk about the BMW GSA. People complained how plain the 1300GS was, and now they are complaining about how ugly the GSA is. I think they are just shocked that BMW did change it. A lot. And, well, I like bold new ideas. So I offer a counter point to all the videos complaining about it. But I do think it is nothing beautiful, rightly so.

When talking about motorcycles, we want power, the first question we are more likely to ask on a new motorcycle is what's the HP. Bigger is better. I'm guilty as charged. I heard this 450 GS was an under powered pig
Interesting comment, since only BMW paid riders rode it.
With 19/17 wheels, and non adjustable suspension, they target hard core trail raiders? Ahahahaha
I ride a motorcycle with 19/17 wheels. I've passed many riders with 21/18 bikes on the trail. The wheel size is only a limitation on what tires are available. Personally, I would not ride on the road a motorcycle with moto-cross tires. And all adventure motorcycles should only use street legal tires. So... what's the point. Also, remember, the BMW GS has made history as the best adventure motorcycle, with a 19 in front tire. Now, suspension is the issue. This motorcycle may come with adjustable suspension. But... if you are serious, you will change springs based on YOUR weight. And that's what will work or not for you. No bike comes ready for all riders.
As an experienced enduro bike rider the last thing I'd want to be riding in "technical ADV" conditions is some expensive, over weight, oversized and overpowered motorcycle.
It is all a question of what you are comparing it to.
@@motolover5697 To me, the question is: "of compromise" and this is the reason I don't ride ADV or dual-sport. I don't enjoy a bike that's knee-capped because its trying to be capable on the road as well as off. There two completely different setups and they don't mix well....
@@painsrides get different bike, then. One for the track, one for MX, one for adventure riding, one for trials,..
@@motolover5697 .... I think you're confused...
@@painsrides I actually have different bikes for different rides. However, the adventure bike would be the one, if I had to choose one.
A so-called adventure bike is too heavy if the rider can’t pick it up fully fuelled.
That's one criteria to keep in mind. LOL I'll use it a next time.
Most bikes can become too heavy when one drops it on a terrain. I had problems with pulling a 70kg trial bike from the bushes stuck to the branches and a tree.
I'm not buying another BMW unless they come up with a new hp2 ...and that is, a bike under 400 lbs. with at least 100 hp. And under 20 grand.
Love it. That's punting the definition of a new unicorn to another orbit.
@@idratherberiding3456 Not really...They had that 20 years ago with the HP2 series and have gone backwards ever since. (2005 BMW HP2 enduro 386 lbs. 105 hp)
@@andersd8956 Yes, but it was another time, another set of rules. Plus, that was dry weight. Its curb weight, all fluids, with oil, battery and gasoline, was 433 lbs, or 196.5kg. It was great, yes. The KTM 950 was also about that weight.
Mein Favorit ist der kleine Triumph Tiger 400x, die srambler ist mit Speichenrädern und anderer Federung schon großartig
If they really make it, it will be a nice machine.
One of the reps said the GS weighs 370lbs. I hope so...
I hope so!!! But on the videos I watched they mentioned 175 Kg, which is 385 lbs. But the weight needs to match the 0.12 hp per pound. Which then is a maximum of 46.2 hp. What I don't know is if this number is dry or wet weight.
I really hope Hero xpluse 421 is accessible globally , hero now has a Darkar pedigree now. And their 421 single platform will offer great pricing , even undercutting ktm's price.
More options!
The factory were this will be built , is just a couple of clicks away from me. Tvs in india 🇮🇳
Great. Keep us posted on what you learn about it.

Yes, I was born in Brazil.

Fala Percy, valeu. Abraco e feliz ano novo.
Good video. I rode the 1300GS twice and found it to be VERY uncomfortable, relative to the Rider Triangle (too leaned forward) & seat comfort......I'm also 5'9" with a 32" inseam. I have owned my 2019 1250GS from new and think its the best ADV bike. I think BMW screwed up with the 1300GS.
I suppose that is always going to be a possibility, that the 1300GS was a bad turn for BMW.
Superb review! I'm considering a Multistrada and this review was exceptionally helpful - thank you!
I appreciate the comment.
Nice video Cesar, enjoyed this one because it is right up my alley
Thanks Scott!!!
Is the clunky engine noise, coming up from the steering stem, worse, compared to the 1250, and 1200 GS, as reported by some?
No clunky engine noise. What I always hear from GS's, and the new one is not different, is the rumble you hear from the tunnel that is formed where the tank forms a u-shape for the steering stem to come through. That rumble was very much present. It is a bit annoying, not different than the previous model, worse I assume with more dirt oriented tires.
@idratherberiding3456 Thanks! I guess, since it is more than the 1250, one should test ride the 1300 to see if it is tolerable by the individual.
@@davidmallia628 I would say it is about the same as the 1250, but I always recommend a test ride. That's the only way to know the bike is what you really expected it to be.
Had a multistrada from 2011 to 2021 which was a fantastic bike, now I have the v4s which is a big step forward, the best bike I have owned over 50 years of biking, try one
I will not dare. LOL
So, now it's 10 months later ... do you still have it? Are you increasingly tempted to "upgrade" to a V4 PP? I'm riding a 2017 1200S and am thinking that I'll still keep on riding it for another year or two. I'm very tempted by a new PP but it's £30,000 ... that's a big chunk of money.
I still have it. And I'm now less tempted to get a V4. I like more the two cylinders today... especially as, like you, I contemplate the price of entry for a V4.
@idratherberiding3456 have to say, the twin motor, 17 inch wheels and single sided swing arm are key attractions for me, so the PP is the only V4 I could really consider.
@@RedDragonUncaged Same here. But at that PP price, my V2 sounds and performs each day better. LOL
A perfect presentation sir. You skiped no detail.🎉
Much appreciated!
Do you still have it? Did you do the desmo service? I did my own. no special tools are really needed and not rocket science....
I still have it, the service may be my Spring project! Thanks!
Great review thanks.
Thanks!
You have made an excellent video being 5 years down the track with a bike. I am four years with my 2020 KTM 790 and recently did a 6000km adventure ride from Walpole to Karratha in Western Australia. To be honest it took me 4 years to trust a bike that will take me that far into remote areas without problems. The KTM 790adventure R did that without an issue except for a small gasket leak on the thermostat housing. Must say I love the bike as you do, but does have minor issues that could be improved on.
Yes, it does have minor issues. But it is something else when it comes to riding off pavement.
Great Video! Been there may times on Quads, SXS while camping in the area. I never get tired of seeing the beauty of the Gulch! I used to see many long-horn mountain sheep/goats 20 years ago, but they apparently caught a sickness and are gone or very few are left?
Thanks, I appreciate the comment. Yes, it is a unique location. I will be back there some day.
This is one of the best, most comprehensive & informative motorcycle reviews I’ve either seen, or read, since 1973 when I started riding. (Meaning I’ve seen and read a few). That it was done in what seems to be not your first language makes it even more remarkable, and an example to others. Well done, keep it up!
Thank you, your comment is much appreciated!
Great video. I love stumbling onto videos by other people in Oregon. I have the same color scheme and year of CB500X. I do not have the Ralley Raid upgrade though. One of the things i did was swap the front sprocket out for a 16T one. It made a huge difference in the on road and highway performance. Sometimes i will be cruising at 60 mph and realize that I am still in 5th gear where before I was trying shift into 7th gear at 60 mph. If i ever do sell this bike it will be to buy one that already has the Rally Raid upgrades installed. Hope to see you on the road,
That's a great idea, make gears "longer" for cruising on the highway. Because I use mine mostly on dirt roads, I like it with shorter gearing. But I like what you did to yours! And thank you for your comment!
How do you care about the the chain during the trails? You surely need a lot of chain cleaner and so on..?
I oil it at about every 200 mph and clean it each time I complete a long ride and wash it when I have it back home.
Great vid. Very balanced and informative. May I ask how much you ended up spending with Rally Raid?
At that time it cost me exactly 3K dollars. Not sure that specific kit is still available, though. If you will buy a CB500X new (or NX500) perhaps a new Transalp is better deal?
Pure Beauty 🥰 Love it
Cb500x aint a small bike, it weights 200 kgs
@@the.communist it’s all a question of comparison to something else. At 195kg, it is lighter than a Tenere 700, KTM 890, Transalp, etc. And it is more compact and therefore easier to maneuver in tight spaces. But if you are comparing to a single cylinder machine, then you could be right if it is not a Himalayan.
Great video, I just got the exact same bike in a trade. I wasn't that excited about it honestly, but one ride is all it took for me to really fall in love with the bike. I'm a lifelong rider with multiple bikes, and I can tell you without a doubt the 800xc is a gem!
Thank you, and yes, I agree, it's a gem of a bike!
Thanks for posting, that was awesome
Luved my 22 KLR650 and was going to pick up another one, but then I saw the tiger 900's, although I'm still not sure I totally like the looks of the front end and the front rake is pretty steep. But, it is a NICE bike. So i got o looking and there are some pretty good deals on nearly new 20-22 tigers and then I noticed the tiger 800 and I think it may actually look better, especially in the red and they say it is very smooth. I know the 2018-2019 had some nice updates, but is it that much better than the gen 1 n gen 2? I have found a 14 in excellent shape n never been off road and some super nice 2015-2017's. So for the price of the klr650 or slightly more, which I only did minor off roading with anyway and really liked taking small trips, I can pick up a nice Tiger 800, so there lies my dilemma. Will have to see if I can test ride the 900's n the 800's and go from there. Thanks for the video!
My Tiger has been trouble free. I think any Tiger (any model year) is a more comfortable and better performer on the highway than the KLR. Now when it comes to dirt rides, if we are nly talking about gravel roads, the Tiger will be great. If in more technical stuff, then the KLR will do better (in my opinion).
This model looks the best besides the pidgeon beak at the front, the hypermotard had the same paint and lines like 6 years later 💯
My favorite too. Until the 2024 V4 showed up, and then the RS model.... :-)
I could hear it running rough
Nice video. Curious to see what you chose next.
Thanks, I still have it. No plans for selling it. At least not yet.
I sold my old bike - a bmw K1300R (also an iconic bike afaik) to buy a new one… but I still miss that little monster
I guess im one of the few that really likes the new design too !! Especially the huge tank and the range it provides ....Bravo BMW for thinking outside the box
Hello from VietNam Great video, very detail ❤
Thank you!
You did not shared the millage info of your bike which is quite important. The software is jpdiag which I dig to find it.
Brilliant video, as a perspective multistrada owner in the future im doing my research on the bike and a long term review from a 10year owner doesnt get much better. I face many of the same problems as you living a distance from main dealers that would mean at a minimum a day off of work purely to take it for a service. I service my own bikes and not scared of bigger jobs so been researching the desmo service also. From an outsider looking in, your bike looks incredibly well looked after it still looks new, if you're selling it purely because of the desmo service, I wouldn't, service and keep it. You've had it for so long that you're not gaining anything by selling it now, and you'll wish you didnt in years to come
@@ArranD1 Yes, it still looks (and rides) like new. More people, on the comments session, have mentioned the desmo service is not that difficult. And thank you for your comment!
