Oh my....it' s so lovely....and self built.....to me it's an " if only". Thanks for sharing...so fun to watch.
Thanks 😊
It's really beautiful looks so professionally done. How could you not want to live there with your young family full time.
Thanks 😊
HaHa..those were silly faces you were making on the 4 wheeler. You guys are making a BEAUTIFUL cabin! Love it!
Thank you 😊
If you want some nice seams in those boards. Save the sanding dust from the machine and mix it with shellac. Fill the cracks with that mixture and when it dries sand over it. Dad and I always did that with Oak Flooring. And we always used nothing but Bruce paste wax as a finish. With todays modern floor machines that is a breeze. We had to do the burnishing with me on a thick blanket and dad swinging me around the floors. The wax finish prevents staining and is extremely easy to keep up. Use some mineral spirits with the Bruce wax and it cleans and resoaks all the pores in the wood. The Bruce wax is non slip too.
Oh I wish I would have done that!! Great idea!!
This is a huge amount of work. But, a meticulous job looks beautiful when it's done.
Thanks 😊
I like the way the floor is looking.
Thanks 😊
It is looking awesome y'all!!!! I love the use of all the old barn wood!
Thanks 😊
Bless you Michael lol. You are so clever the house looks amazing, you have worked so hard I cant believe how much you have done already xx
Thanks 😊
It’s a beautiful place. Reminds me of our homestead. We have not made a video in a while. We lost five family members this past year. Just had so much happen. And it’s not just lately it since we bought the homestead 6 yrs ago. But we are coming back stronger. Hopefully. And soon. Things are very different. My husband retired and went back to school to be a home inspector. So no more 70 hour weeks as an electrician. But after nearly 30 yrs as one I think he will be a very good inspector. You have done a really nice job on your cabin. We bought this little units off wish. But it ships in the US. They are small solar light units. They have three lights a radio and a phone charger. They might work great in your home. They are around $50. We have one in our cabin. And we use them in our barns. Love your place! Leslye
Thank you 😊
Loving all the details. The floor looks amazing.
Thank you 😊

Have to laugh...wondered how long you were going to hold that umbrella with your chin😂🤣. Anyways, I like the interest that the floor has. Looking forward to how it looks when you sand it. It’s going to be great!
Thank you 😊
New viewer. It's looking great. Great job on your explanation of the process.
You do such an excellent job with your videos. Great camera work, narration, editing and always interesting. Thank you for sharing you and your family's adventures.
I hope you were able to manage that umbrella and the 4-wheeler okay and didn't get too wet. Another adventure for you I'm sure. 😂
Thanks 😊
I like this house. 👍
Thanks 😊
you are doing well bravo🙂👍
Thanks 😊
It's coming along so fast dude
Thanks 😊
Ditto on the blessing.
Thanks
Its gorgeous😉
I was skeptical about this much barn wood on the inside, but that's beautiful! Just found your channel. Sub'd ✅
FYI, that floor stapler/nailer should have an adjustment on it to increase the depth it shoots so the staple doesn't stick up. I know, too late, but for future ref. Hope it helps. Thanks for great content!
Awesome
Thanks 😊
I’ve got a $20 bill that says Laine make you redo those stairs about the second time one of the kids comes down head first. Or one of your Airbnb guests. ❤️
Sure hope that don’t happen
Love it!
Thanks
You could pore clear epoxy on top of the floorboards
I’m living on painted sub floors. It’s not the greatest but it is a money saver.
Great video! Do you have another video that shows the sanding? If not, which type of floor sander did you end up going with? I’m currently doing a barn wood floor and also need to level it out and make it smooth. Thanks!
Actually I didn’t sand it all flat. I did some light sanding so no stubbed toes , but If I had sanding completely flat it would have removed the old saw marks. It makes it harder to clean for sure but have no regrets leaving it as is.
You need a poncho!
Agreed 😉
Ya had me until you mentioned paint, lol.
Looks look. Just a small point to consider gaps in floor allow dirt/dust in them. Pain to clean 🧽. Life lessons
Vacuum the gaps.. it’s worth it
I was gonna suggest you put the camera down!!! 😂. You are so funny! Looking good!
Thanks 😊
😄👍👍 God bless ✌️
Thanks 😊
Very good video did you remove the nails from the reclaim lumber before installing the floors
Yes I did
I hope Jerry does the sanding. Those machines require experience.
😆 gee thanks
Try to rent a Hummel not one of them 4 pad setups from Lowe's or Home depot.
Hi great looking floor , why did you plane one side of the boards and how would that be useful to the laying of the floor ?
We didn’t plane either side.. only cut the sides to make sure we had the same width boards on each row.. boards ranged from 4-10” wide.
What kind of sander did you use to even out the wood
I might have missed it in an earlier video, but where did you source the barnwood? In areas that don't have actual barns and old structures being torn down.... wood like this almost doesn't exist. Some areas seem flush with it, despite the popular demand now.
We had an old barn on the family farm that we took down and salvaged the wood.
I miss seeing Laine and the kids in all the videos
Yes I understand.. unfortunately they couldn’t be at the cabin much with the daily activities like homeschool and Laines work.
Hello. Really enjoy your videos. Been searching UA-cam for ideas and tips on reclaim flooring. Currently milking white oak from 1860’s barn on our farm. I’m torn between glue and top nailing. Or just too nailing. I intend to cover the whole floor with a filler and sanding to make it smooth and to fill all the old nails holes. Curious how this floor has held up in the cabin. Has your top nailing method been sufficient? Has the floor held tight? Any suggestions? Thanks! Cheers!!!
the floor has done great
Are you gonna smooth it out of splinters?
Your house is going to look like the house my wife grew up in. She even had an out house. Nothing like going out to the out house at three o clock in the morning in the winter. Your place is going to be a little to quaint for me.
No outhouse here
I was wondering about the noise through the floor. You have the barn boards on the ceiling, and then OSB, and then paint. If the kids move at all during the night, it seems like that noise will transmit right downstairs. Have you considered that, or whether some kind of sound insulation layer would be doable? (Not trying to criticize, love what you're doing, and am curious about the considerations towards noise.)
We aren’t concerned about that but thanks
What kind of wood is the barnwood?
Hardwood or do you plan on several coats of polyurethane to strengthen it?
Oak wood and yes will put a sealer on it
I've heard good feedback about the Woodglut plans.
