So blessed that I grew up listening to this man on the radio. I don’t think I understood how much his music and lyrics touched my heart and helped calm a troubled a mind.
Love his songs! Thanks to the Internet, you can listen to songs written long before your birth on the other side of the Earth, and admire talented artists like him!
Our youngest son moved to Durango, Colorado some 20 years ago. After a few years we visited him. since then we've visited several other places in Colorado. It is such a magical, neat place! We knew why he moved up there the first time we saw saw the mountains, streams and crystal sky. John Denver captured the essence of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. Such a talented man and so sad he is gone way too soon!
I was in the Hoosierdome for this event. Guns n' Roses came on and cranked up the crowd so much that when Lyle Lovett followed with just himself and a cellist, they were still pretty rambunctious. But then, John came on, all alone, and quickly had the crowd singing along and eating out of his hand. Great work!
I also attended this Farm Aid in Indianapolis with my wife. Guns and Roses, Crosby, Stills,Nash and Young. Elton John was an unannounced special guest. Such a good day.
Boggles my mind that this beautiful masterpiece got banned from airplay in some places because a few idiots misinterpreted the lyrics to be about drugs
The entire line up at Farm Aid 1 was magic.. a variety and they all fit the bill. I was five when this started out. This was 1990 but I bet in 85 it would fit in as well.
If God has a nature it is nature the invisible hand that guides all Creation. People forget who they are and where they came from and who breathed life into their nostrils in the beginning. They tend to get so caught up in their own doubt and insecurity they cant see the forest for the trees. The world we live in is made by men not our Creator and we are our own worst enemy.....
John had his troubles we all do but in his heart he was one with nature, it gave him the serenity he needed!!!!
He wrote it , played it, and sang the heck out of it, rip
I bet everyone backstage was mesmerized. I know I am when he starts singing.
John Denver doesn't just sing music, he IS music. ❤️

did john get high ?
Yes. In fact, the lyrics of one song is "me & my old lady sitting & passing the pipe around..."
He was high on Colorado Rocky Mountain high..it has more than one meaning. It's a double entendre.
We learned this in 1990 in music class
