Love your channel & tips! The airlines let you bring a “pillow” that doesn’t count as a carry-on or personal item…. so I bring a half-moon pillowcase meant to put over a neck pillow - but instead I fill it with gloves, scarves, ear muffs etc. Even though the airlines also allow a coat that doesn’t have to be packed, my puffy coat will also squish down to fit in this zipped pillow case. It’s just as comfy as a pillow, but I don’t have to find room for these things in my bag.
I did learn from The DMV office a few weeks ago that even when the real ID is effective, you still don’t have to have one as long as you travel with your passport and regular driver’s license. Thanks for your wonderful videos. I love them.
Wonderful tips! It lifts my spirits to think about traveling, and traveling well, thanks to your channel. Fingers crossed for Europe next year! Plans are written in pencil, but they are written in! Well done Laurie, 🙏

Trying to pack cold weather clothes only in carry on. I'm also in Houston greater area. Where did you get your rapid covid testing done before flights?
Thank you for watching! How awesome is December going to be. We traveled to places that did not need a covid test-Montana, Phoenix, GA and FL. Have fun!
I have the flowered version of your striped bag and have loved it. With your recommendation for the newest bag, I bought one for my hubby to carry. Thanks for all your suggestions.
Thank you very much always Laurie. How I wish i watch this kind of video last year. I only bring normal jacket when I travel winter in Japan. Gift wrapping dose not block whats inside. Its an X-ray machine. Don't wrap gifts because TSA may have to unwrap them to inspect the item for liquid or gel or food ect. It will take extra time for them and you
An X-tra layer that I packed for a winter trip in Germany (2 degrees) was a long, loose crinkle black skirt. It went over leggings or thinner pants and was easily taken off and crinkled up into my purse as needed. It always looked good and was most comfortable. Layers beat thick jeans any day.
Thank you for all the information. We are planning a trip to England this winter and wanted to travel with a carry on only. You have given me so much good info. We will be staying with family so I don’t have to over pack. I have purchased some packing cubes but didn’t know really how to use them. And now I do. The only thing that I see that I would need more room for is to bring gifts for family in the states back Well I guess that since my husband travels so late anyway I could put stuff in his bag. Lol. I have watched several packing hack videos and I have to say I prefer the way that you present. Awesome job Laurie

Bonjour Laurie, comment allez-vous? Thank you so much for the regular updates on the Covid measures taken by airlines and airport security, they are really helpful! If all goes well, I’ll be flying to Mexico in 53 days for a 10 day resort vacation in Tulum. I get one checked-in baggage and one carry on in the package, and for once I will not pack light. Every yr for Xmas we fly to canada & buy all gifts there or ship them ahead of time. I wear winter boots that are breathable and use as only footwear. Thin merino wool layers where every piece matches so I pack only a personal item bag for entire trip. No travel allowed to canada this yr so we're going to the Mexican riviera instead yay!
Hi Laurie...again! What reusable twist ties do you recommend for your cords when traveling? I have a pouch I use for charger cords, but need to keep the individual cords contained. Thanks in advance!
im going to uk for new years to visit my feance its my second time flying i went back in march loved it a bit hard to pack im not thin so my clothes a bit bulky but got all on carry on used a backpack that did not work for me going this time with a tote
Yes, I have learned like that too-from experience. I will never travel with one of my old bags again. I hope the tote works-make sure it zips. And I'm SOOOOO excited for you!
A few years ago, hubby and I went to Iceland in December hoping to see the northern lights. Unfortunately it was cloudy the whole time. My husband took a coat which had a zip out down-like liner. He wore the shell for travel, but I was able to squish the liner into a very small packing cube. We did travel with check luggage, but the idea could be helpful for those with just carry-on. Enjoyable and enlightening as always and thanks for the puppy cameo!
Thanks for sharing! Yes, that's what I was talking about with the Walmart down jackets. Use those compression packing cubes if needed. Thank you for watching!
Sorry about the weather when you were in Iceland, the weather gods are not always in our favour....especially in the winter. I hope you had a good time anyway

Hi Melinda. Just had knee surgery yesterday lol. So I'll make one after our Thanksgiving travels. We can fit our - my hubby makes us fit our clothes in a carry-on suitcase. Then like I said we pack the rest in our personal item bag. If I were you, I'd just check one suitcase or 2. Then you take a rolling carry-on and a backpack as well as your hubby taking a backpack. If you take your time, having all those bags will not be as stressful. We just went to our airline ticket and requested a wheelchair or either we did it the day we arrived at the airport. That may help you with your bags. And request that one meet you at the plane when you land too. But know that you'll have to wait until everyone is off the plane to deplane. So excited for y'all!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie thank you for your reply. I have an appointment with a ortho surgeon on December 1st don’t know yet but might be having surgery on mine. Speedy recovery 👍🏻
What was the little blurb about no sequins? You didn’t mention it. I ask because I’m leaving in 10 days for my son’s wedding with, you guessed it, a beaded and sequined dress in carry-on.
Love your tips! I recently had to spend the night in a hotel and it was -6 degrees outside. The fan in the room could not be turned completely off. It was SO dry I could barely sleep. I ended up shoving lip balm up my nose ☹️ Any tips for super dry air?
Oh wow! I would just die. That sounds painful. My absolutely favorite lotion is Gold Bond for Diabetics. It's thick and has zero smell. And you could pack vaseline in a little plastic disc container as it will not leak. And band-aids if your skin cracks? Thank you for watching!
If there's a bathtub, you can fill it with hot water (leave the exhaust fan off) and the steam from that can help, and it also helps to warm up the air a bit, too. I've done that for the heat multiple times.
Hi!! From Atlanta :) OMG thank you so much for your videos! They have been so helpful! In a few weeks I’m traveling internationally. My passport will expire in less than 5 months I am so worry they won’t let me fly I already submitted for a new one but I’m not American and it’s taking so long . Please advise
Hi! Thank you for watching. Are you talking about the myTSA app? Each airport has their own app, and each airline has their own app as well. Hope that helps?
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie you said something like “don’t forget to download the Air Port app.” So I thought there might be an app called Air Port 😂 I do have the app for the airline I’m traveling with. Thanks so much! Really appreciate it❤️
Hey this is a random question but I am going on a flight in 2 weeks and I wanted to know if I can bring gronola bars with chocolate chips in them. I saw a videos of yours that said don't bring chocolate. Thanks for your help.
How do I store powder ? I take a supplement a few times a day. 10 grams at a time. What container can I put my powder in? What’ about powder for candle making? I usually fly with a sealed pouch . Do I need to check it? Thank you
Hmmm, I would go to the mytsa app to ask them a question. They may just pull it out to inspect. It would just take a few minutes. Or you can check it. But it's totally fine.
You mentioned that expired IDs may be okay. What if you were not able to get the "official" id, red star in the corner ID? My husband and son do not have the red stars.
Hi! I do not know about a red star-maybe that is your state. But the Gold Star REAL ID has been postponed until August 2021. You can @asktsa on facebook messenger or just call them. They do answer. tsa.gov Hope this helps.
I did do Ask TSA on messenger and the answer I got was the new deadline for the REAL ID is October 1, 2021. Just wanted to pass that on. Thank you for all your mazing tips!
Hi Laurie. Me again. :-) I will be staying in Istanbul from September to December. So, the weather will range from the average temperature in 70°'s in September to the average temperatures in the 50°'s in December. Besides layering, any other suggestions? I can always buy whatever I need but I will be on a budget, hence the reason I will try to pack whatever I think I will need. My biggest issue will be to try not to overpack! LOL
Hi! I have a video about that. One is from this video: wear just a hat and gloves and keep your big coat in the car. Here is a video: bit.ly/TheBeachInWinter
Pack your extra phone battery in the top of your purse/bag. Or put it directly in the bin! TSA took everything out of my purse, (touching everything) to see what the item was.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I have so many questions!!!! I have flown once before but it was 20 years ago!!! I called the TSA and the guy I got seemed “new”. If I bring food that qualifies as liquid do they go in the same bag as my soap/shampoo or does “liquid” food get they own 3-1-1 bag. I’m trying to be the prepared flyer to get through the line as fast as I can!!!
@@lesliedawson7364 Don't know whether you got your answer yet, but if not, liquid food has to go in the same bag as the rest of your liquids (liquid meds don't, but liquid food does) - 3.4 oz max per item, bag no bigger than one quart, only one quart-size bag per passenger.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie thank you. My two teenage kids are traveling soon and I went to make sure I am telling them as much info as I can. Thanks for all the travel tips you post. Would you know if I need to have a signed document for my 15 yr old to travel with my 19th year old?
Empty water bottle, small , 120ml , I was boarding the plane in Santiago and the stupid staff took it away from me. I tried to protest to no avail. Definitely not in all the airports!

What was the little blurb about no sequins? You didn’t mention it. I ask because I’m leaving in 10 days for my son’s wedding with, you guessed it, a beaded and sequined dress in carry-on.
Oh, during Christmas do not wear sequins or TSA will have to search you lol.
I live in Hawaii . Heading to my family in California!!!
Yay!!! Freedom! Have a lovely time. Thanks for watching.
Hi!! From Atlanta :) OMG thank you so much for your videos! They have been so helpful! In a few weeks I’m traveling internationally. My passport will expire in less than 5 months I am so worry they won’t let me fly I already submitted for a new one but I’m not American and it’s taking so long . Please advise
I would download the myTSA app and ask them the question. They can help you or lead you to the absolutely correct answer.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie thank you ❤️
Thanks for the information
My pleasure!
Thanks so much for sharing. What’s the airport app that you mentioned?
Hi! Thank you for watching. Are you talking about the myTSA app? Each airport has their own app, and each airline has their own app as well. Hope that helps?
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie you said something like “don’t forget to download the Air Port app.” So I thought there might be an app called Air Port 😂
I do have the app for the airline I’m traveling with. Thanks so much! Really appreciate it❤️
Hey this is a random question but I am going on a flight in 2 weeks and I wanted to know if I can bring gronola bars with chocolate chips in them. I saw a videos of yours that said don't bring chocolate. Thanks for your help.
Oh, yes you can. I was just thinking it would melt. But watch my video about the new food rule in TSA. Thank you for watching!
Can you bring a personal portable fan with batteries on the plane?
You sure can!
I think you mentioned you got a new set of compression bags. Can you add a link?
Thanks so much; I added it. Here ya go: bit.ly/2GC9xNi
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie thanks!!!
LOL
Yes, thin layers. That thin fleece is a good wind blocker too. Maybe you could buy an inexpensive thick coat there?
Where do you get your striped shirts?
Loft-they are old. Thanks for watching!
Make video on travel with babies and immunisation booster before travel
Hmmmm my baby is 16 so I do not feel like an expert anymore. Thank you for watching!
❤️❤️❤️
How do you pack going from cold weather to hot?
Hi! I have a video about that. One is from this video: wear just a hat and gloves and keep your big coat in the car. Here is a video: bit.ly/TheBeachInWinter
❤
Can you please add a kink to your new personal item bag?
Hi, Leslie. I added it but here it is: bit.ly/3oJalRr
No hay traducción en español?
No, lo siento.
Que pena, me encantan tus publicaciones. Somos muchos los hispanoparlantes
Pack your extra phone battery in the top of your purse/bag. Or put it directly in the bin! TSA took everything out of my purse, (touching everything) to see what the item was.
Ugh! Are you talking about a power bank? That's so weird. Mine has never been looked at. Thanks for the tip and for watching!
I am getting an 18x18 pillow case and then I’m stuffing my coat in there to use it as a pillow!!!!
Smart idea!!
@@SnowySpiritRuby I went a different route so I wouldn’t have to worry with it!!!
What about removal of shoes for 17 and under age teens?
After age 12, you do have to take off shoes in regular security. Thank you for watching!
What in the world?! That is robbery.
Oops I should have said my husband is a light packer not a late packer lol
Ha!
Love your travel tips! One nit pick in this video - keep that mask over both your mouth and nose!!! An exposed nose doesn't help anyone.
Very true. Did I not have it over my nose in this one? I can't remember which pics...thank you for watching.
Meant link not kink!
:) Haha!
I just sent a message on messenger to Ask TSA and the deadline for the Real ID (star ID) has been changed to October 1, 2021.
Yes that's right!
I just love your channel. When I travel and see women wear white pants I think 😳
Yuck. Im from Ashburn and your biggest fan.
Ashburn, VA?
Best travel tip is to stay home so people don't die.
Best travel tip to me is to live life to the fullest while being responsible.
Wear the mask properly and dispose of masks after use don’t reuse
