    Me and my friends are trying to start D&D and we are having trouble making characters. The tomato based explanations really helped. Thanks!

      Awesome, it makes me happy when someone gets some use out of these videos. Have a great first game and if you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments.
      Also remember to just have fun, if you don’t understand something or don’t like a certain rule make the game your own and change the rules to fit your play style. Have fun with it.

      @@FitzTheGame Thanks for your feedback! I will keep in mind to change a few rules if we need. It will also be my first time as DM as well. Wish me luck!

      @@SquidCola23 good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great. Just remember to not take it to seriously and allow yourself to feed off of what your players are enjoying. If you’ve seen any fun looking encounters keep them in the back of your mind as a just in case.

    tomato is a vegetable…right?

    • @FitzTheGame
      @FitzTheGame  3 роки тому +4

      In the world of botany they are classified as a fruit, because they grow on a plant and contain seeds. They are usually sold as vegetables because they are used like a vegetable in cooking. So they are a fruit but thought of as a vegetable.

    Okay, so if you use the stat buy, every stat is 8 points, but you have an additional 27 points you can use to put into the stats you want? Is it like that or am I wrong?

    • @FitzTheGame
      @FitzTheGame  11 місяців тому

      Exactly! You start with every star set to 8 and you have a pool of 27 points that you can spend on increasing your stats.

    But what do ability scores do?

  • @bruhman3165
    @bruhman3165 2 роки тому

    Hello, i have a question. I am new to DnD, and i have a hard time understanding Ability Scores. So, are they used while playing the game, like do you add the number, when rolling a d20? (Sorry i really might sound dumb, but i kinda dont understand the Ability Scores)

    • @FitzTheGame
      @FitzTheGame  2 роки тому +2

      TLDR: you add that number only when asked to by your DM, otherwise ignore it and just add the bonus associated with the skill or save your DM asked you to make.
      Ability scores are your characters base stats that are used to define the bonuses you receive across different sections of your character sheet.
      You will get a number for each ability, that number will only be used to figure out what bonus you receive for all aspects of the game related to that ability. For example: if you have a 12 strength you will have a +1 any time you see a stat based on strength.
      The majority of the time you add bonuses will be when making a skill check or saving throw. There may be extra bonuses with the specific skills and saves, so you get the number added to your d20 roll from the skill or save section of your character sheet not from the ability scores section.
      That being said, the odd time your DM may ask you for a roll and ask you to add your base strength bonus, instead of making you use a skill bonus. In that situation you would roll a d20 and add your basic ability score bonus. Those happen few and far between though.
      Clear as mud? Lol, it’s not a stupid question at all, it sounds more complicated then it actually is.
      Note: For your skills and saves you will only roll dice and add bonuses when asked to. So you will be specifically asked to make a athletics skill check and you use that bonus, you won’t have to figure out in game where to find bonuses, your dm should say athletics letting you know to use the athletics bonus.
