    It all comes down to the drummer! He makes these kits sounds as if they’re actually really good! Seriously, Ralf can jam on a Roland TD-1 and you’d think the TD-1 is amazing.

      Thank you very much Marcelo! :) I think there always is something to love about any module that works/triggers well enough to make music. Sure a TD-1 is super limited and sounds quite synthetic, on the other hand it plays/triggers nicely & dynamic, so it's not that bad! This Yamaha module sounds amazing for the price I think, and triggering works rather well despite the small rubber pads. I agree that Yamaha needs to come out with some new improved pads, that have a more realistic playing feel (and possibly work out compatibility with drum-tec/Roland/ATV pads), but I really enjoyed the sounds & room ambiences of the module :) kind regards!

    I'm buying this one tomorrow I believe. I have looked at them all in this, a bit up, and a bit down in price. I honestly think this one is the comparable one to the Yamaha dtx532k as far as the sound you get from the mod and the adjustability with the filtering and nicely recorded sounds and such with presence. Was just going to get cheaper kit (Nitro or Surge). Thought about the simmons sd1200. actually the sd600 has stood out as maybe more worth it as far as sound goes? Both the Roland TD 17k and 7K look pretty good. Like mod from 17k. Like other things about the 7k as well but didn't quite feel there is a balance there and just having a sound or quickly filtering sounds with independent piece volume and wiring. I want all dtx pads on this. I can do that over time so 1k hits spot well. Plan to use it for home studio build. No live or band. I just am in love with music/sound 24/7 and enjoy creating it just for personal. If anything I think the resale value will be between 65-80 %. Maybe 65 my case. I have a couple of daughters that are probably going to destroy it. That's cool though as long as they have fun as well and will encourage me to buy all dtx pads =]

      Same here. Came down to the TD-17KV and this. The reality to myself is... I want something that sounds good from the point I turn it on and not have to muck with 3rd-party software through a pc (though it's not like it's not an option when recording or post). This hit the spot. I listened to a lot of the kits around the price point over and over. I just can't handle synthetic sounds unless that is what I'm actually going for. I'm probably going to split some of the small rubber toms for just a couple of the dtx pads to expand it. Gives me a good entry point and a minor upgrade before I go crazy on an expensive kit. Also, I think the dtx pads for the snare have a wonderful feel to them; better than some of the mesh I tried. This is my first kit. I was only going to spend up to $500. But like I said. Everything else sounds "ug" at this price point and especially below. I'm using this for learning drums and recording drums to my music.
      How are you liking the kit so far? Mine arrives in 5-8 hours. =]

      Hey Scott, thank you! The ride bell triggering works very well with the DTX PRO(X) module(s) generally speaking, but this kit configuration comes with a rather small 13" ride, which makes it a little harder to play precisely in some situations.

      Hi David, you still nee a well triggering kit & module before the software if you want to be playing drums with it though :) Triggering great sounding sample libraries via midi absolutely opens up another "world" but might be too complex for drummers that have just started out with e-drumming. @@drumtecTV exactly, I know sound quality its not all, as you say its very important a comfortable drum with great feel, response, triggering and also a module that can translate this and without introducing noticeable latency (beyond the pc and interface)...I'm no doubt, many improvements are ocurred since the first edrum kits in terms of play-feel, triggering response, kit materials, connection...Your company itself introduced many great upgrades. But I told u again, about sound quality the companies are defased and slowly introducing the new technologies (I think they do it with all the purpose for marketing strategy but I feel they overwhelmed this) we still using One-Shot samples or three or four layers in most of sound modules, short size memory, lcd screens, etc. Today producing a good and affordable color screen, add a decent CPU for the module, have at least 128 GB is ridiculous cheap... create a sampler workstation algorithm for round robin and more layering with more storage capacity it's not relatively so complicated being the powerful Yamaha, Roland companies for example. I'm not saying that I prefer midi vst edrums, it's better sacrifice sound quality and gain in stability that the own hardware can offer versus laptop failures...just saying that I think in this age they can short the huge distance between external software/laptop and internal module features without very overpricing. Just my modest opinion

    I like the new module especially for an intermediate one. It looks and sounds like a much better module than the TD-17. But just like everyone else I'm wondering why they didn't update the pads as well? It's really crazy. No one wants those tiny cymbals and pads anymore. Yamaha makes some of the most beautiful shells in the industry. Even their entry level birch kits have a great finish. Jeez, even their new small portable kits too! (I thought of converting one of those kits.) The shells although shallower still look like "real" drums.
    I'm not a designer or engineer but could it really be that hard for a major manufacturer like Yamaha to mount the silicone pads into a nice looking shell and offer more realistically sized shells? I said as much on their official fb page and they responded. I was a little snarky in my initial comment for which I apologized but still expressed my disappointment. They still didn't say whether they would be updating their pads though.
    I'm hoping they go in that direction when their new flagship is released. But putting that aside this new module bodes well for an even more feature packed new flagship module. If they do I would seriously consider switching over from my TD-50 module sans the outdated pads.

    I was wondering what ekit for $1000 do you recommend?
    I was thinking this yamaha or the roland for $1000. ( I did look at alesis as well )
    I'm going be playing mostly jazz so its important to me good cymbals ( but I also am going to be playing the other genres)
    I just feel like a good brain is Critical and good cymbals, but great toms less so .

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  3 роки тому +3

      Hey John, for best playability & triggering I would recommend a Roland, possibly even the TD-17KV if you can stretch the budget a little more. If you are playing jazz mainly, using a moveable VH-10 hihat controller would improve the whole experience, and a 3 zone ride would also be a major upgrade. So in the end, my suggestion would actually be the TD-17KVX :) all the smaller kits come with quite some compromises in realism/playability. Kind regards!

In this case, the sound improvement are minimal ... still no enough layers in the sound (easily noticeable on the snare) as well as the lack of Round Robin technology. Modules with small LCD screens, minimal features and disk space ... once again, disappointing.
