Brother Alonzo, that was a masterful perfomance and tribute to the late, great JJ Cale. He is by far the coolest, laid-back and down-to-earth musician that I know of. I was drawn to his music the first time I heard it decades ago and have been a great admirer of his. The world lost a gem when he left the planet.
Well yessiree indeedy, you crrrrrrrushed this one. One of my all time favorite, if not the favorite, JJ songs. My jaw just dropped hearing you do it and do it so great! Good lord, AG, your chops are rock solid. I’d love to hear your rendition of After Midnight. My buddies and i do that one all the time (sometimes do it as a mini mashup with CSNY’s 4&20 for fun). Seriously brother, this was just terrific. ~ Mark
Thanks, Alan. OK, class, pay attention: I'm playing as if in the key of D and in Drop D tuning; except that my 12-string is tuned two whole steps below standard guitar tuning (C to C); meaning that if there were no capo there I'd actually be in the key of B flat. Except for the second-fret capo, raising it back up a whole step, and voila, I end up playing in the true key of C. There will be a quiz on this tomorrow.
Thanks! It's drop-D, and about 40% of my repertoire is in that tuning nowadays. But also, that guitar I tune down two whole steps (C to C), so with the capo at the second fret, I'm actually in true C.

Incredible playing, great rendition. 👏👏👏👏🎼🎸🎼
Well done. Love this song. Covered it live back in the say and doing it again soon.
There's something incredible and special about your 12 string playing. It produces as much energy as normally only an entire band can!
Thank you, my friend.
Wonderful.
All I can say is thank you. That made my morning happy.
Wow, there is talent!
Fantastic Alonzo..... 5 stars.
Your singing and playing is really shining!
Muy bueno!
A plus performance and version. It is like hearing an incarnation combining Leadbelly and Mike Russo. / RJ
Thank you. I don't feel quite worthy of that, the highest kind of compliment I could receive. Those two are godlike to me. But again...thanks.

Hi Alonzo, what a great cover and rendition. Superb stuff.
Are you playing with normal tuning or not? I’d love to know. Thank you.

2:16 So satisfying. 👍
you make that guitar sing....is it drop D tuning or is the whole guitar done a step?

Great cover. Kinda reminiscent of Leo Kottke: "Got 12 strings, Uses 'em all!" lol.
