From director Michael Bay, “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” is the gripping true story of six elite ex-military operators assigned to protect the CIA who fought back against overwhelming odds when terrorists attacked a U.S. diplomatic compound on September 11, 2012. When everything went wrong, six men had the courage to do what was right. Based on the nonfiction book “13 Hours” by New York Times bestselling author Mitchell Zuckoff and Members of the Annex Security Team.

I saw a lot of reviews of this movie saying how the dialogue was over the top and aggressive. Guess what, that's how the real guys talk to each other lol.

As a former 11B, I can attest to that. And really, to a degree, the movie downplayed reality when it comes to our dialogue and banter a bit. Maybe that was just my unit though.

I don't buy the hogwash about the Chief of Base issuing a stand down order.
John “Tiggie Boy” Tiegen is the only member of the six man GRS team from the CIA Annex who testified to Congress that he actually heard the Chief of Base issue a stand down order.
Kris Paronto, Jack Silva, Dave Benton didn't say anything in their testimony about hearing the Chief of Base issue a stand down order.
The GRS Team Leader testified that the Chief never issued a stand down order.
The Deputy Chief testified that the Chief of Base said "absolutely" when he approved the GRS team leader's request to "go get those guys" under attack at the diplomatic mission.
The Deputy Chief told Congress the Chief of Base approved the GRS team mission to assist the diplomatic facility, "instantly, on the spot, without equivocation."
Tiggie Boy didn’t even mention the stand down order the first time he testified to Congress. When asked about this, Tiggie Boy gave a self-contradicting answer. Tiggie Boy told Congress he didn't say anything about a stand down order in his previous testimony because he did know the “why” for the stand down order. Then he said the team leader told him the “why” for the order and that he “kind of understood the reason.”
Tiggie Boy's story isn’t credible. It's as full of holes as Swiss Cheese.
Congress didn't believe him. I don't believe him.
I suspect he made it up because he thought it would sell more books.
      That's my opinion.

The ending where Tanto is relieved that they are friendlies always makes me tear up. Traditional action movies tend to show stars being emotionless badasses lol. Yea these men are real life badasses but in the end (especially during a fight like this) you don’t know if you’re going home. That moment you’re feeling this is the end and then instantly being relieved that they are friendlies would have a lot of emotion wash over anyone.

@CYB3R2K30 what are you doing for this country at this moment, sleeping comfortably in your bed? Because right now at 20 minutes to 1am PST, those that wish to do us harm are thinking of ways to do just that. The reason it doesn’t happen often is because men and women like the ones portrayed in this film are working around the clock to prevent it. The chances of you personally being killed in an attack maybe slim, and those who do happen to be affected by the next lunatic with a twisted ideology and a hard on for killing as many Americans as possible, will have never thought that something like that would happen to them. But it still happens. So you can thank our “stupidly huge military” and our intelligence agencies for keeping the odds of you seeing the light of another day in your favor.

You even did not listen to what they said, "This is not about politics, this is about what happens on the ground". With this action, you disrespected their sacrifice. The absence of air support or land support was due to their job, being ground forces for a secret CIA outpost. Several things went wrong that night and probably even high-rank officer should pay for that but you take all away and use against a single person for political reasons.

This is up there as one of my favorite military movies cause they did such an awesome job showing the emotion and mindset that comes with being in battle. I served in the Marine Corp and they showed how things can really change at the drop of a hat and how much bureaucratic bullshit can cause lives. I fully believe they were issued a stand down order only because I know how things can be. They weren’t “there” technically and engaging in this fight would of made them very much “there”.

I don't know, aside from this movie, which I think is in a class of it's own when it comes to quality, his movies tend to all look and feel the same. Lots of action, quick cuts, slow motion shots, and I find a lot of his movies have shots that don't have a purpose, and just seem out of place.
In this movie for instance, the scene where Jack is bodyguard for the 2 CIA case officers that are meeting with an asset and his wife, Jack is posing as the female CIA officer's husband, there's a part where Jack speaks up after being told before the meeting by the case officers that he shouldn't speak. He then says that he and his wife (the female case officer) had a fight earlier, but she nervously laughs and denies that they had a fight.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I thought that exchange was kind of strange considering the way the rest of the scene goes. And I just think that a lot of Michael Bay movies have scenes like that, that seem out of place, and without any real purpose.

This movie got me tears it brings back memories of me holding my friend body after finding him with his blood running down my uniform , and it have been 10 years and it since he gone and it feel like yesterday, what it going to take to end all wars? As a soldier we are told that the most important people is the one behind you seeking protection but what about the people who are in front of you that are Data corrupt by government official just for power thinking that fight will bring peace but I guess it the peace that come after the dust settle

The most heary wrenching scene for me was towards the end....when Tanto cried out in relief ..after that hand sign was reciprocated...
Another was the one where the remaining GRS guys standing with the bodies of their fallen brothers....looking at the hired private jet leaving with the now revealed...CIA staffers....and that one badly injured GRS guy...glad he was taken back for medical attention......still....as a moviegoer....I felt so disappointed that those heroes were treated like mere hired help.....they were heroes for god sake!!!! They saved your stinking ass!!!! And Libyan Airline took them back.....not even American airline.....I am not even American and I remember the rest of the movie-goers in the cinema hall going...wtf...they left those guys behind? Wtf......they saved their asses!!...so I am glad that I watch this movie and see a different perspective about this particular incident...it was reported globally iirc....

This movie made me have respect for military personnel, your judgements are too really and truthful painful especially when you let go that guy herding goats only to come back for his death.i don't know how much I can thank all you guys(soldiers all over the world)for your risky good job

Sorry mixed your movie with other.Still thou the sacrifice of going through enemy blocking your way and bravely defend the embassy at short notice is really too good and how you then arranged yourselves and fight off those evil guys was really good.
