Definitely, JD and KQ are the Ballers of the week. They played so well, and both made good plays for their teammates. Excited to see more from these two.
Terrence is performing well also. Glad to see him back.
I love the UP MBT and of course they performed well and won their past two games, but I think their FTs are boleros (if a specific part of a game of a team can be called bolero). In their game against UE, their FT was not good. Sayang yung laming nila. Tho kudos to UE because they really outscored UE in the last quarter.

Great episode as usual!! Been a silent subscriber since season 84!
I have JD as my baller of the week but UP as the boleros of the week. The 27-point lead UP had from the 1st to the 3rd quarter was amazing but the free-throw shooting.... daaang man! feels like the free throws are a big factor that’s holding UP back from winning games in a dominant fashion. This game also felt reminiscent of a painful championship loss, where we couldn’t hold onto a 7-point lead (7 points right? too painful for me to watch the replay of that game

Adamson is really the Hype killer. 😂
What I didn't like with the LaSalle was they were hunting for KQ's triple double during garbage time. Sit KQ down, he might get injured.
And Ateneo is really a 1st half team. Interesting game vs Adamson. Slow start vs fast start
To counter argue Ian, see the drop on the facilitating. Espinosa hunts his shot. Even during the UST game, I saw Jared subbing in, and I know he also saw it. And I said, Espinosa will shoot this and he did 😂

FEU is a bolero because the team just can’t execute in crunch time. Key talaga is Pasaol, he has to make his shots in the crunch because he’s their closer and so far he’s been struggling in the seniors because of his lack of size. Another concern is Anonuevo, and how he’s been out of the closing lineup despite being a starter. Sean Chambers has a lot of work to do

They have to do a better job of finding Bautista in the clutch. Hope they can still turn the season around but not super surprised theyre struggling as they’re a very young team. -Maui

Ballers of the week: KQ, JD, Tuano, Tounkara, Ojarikre. KQ and JD arguably the Top 2 best ballers of college, Tounkara, setting his offday vs AdU last night, he is showing he's a very great FSA. Tuano has been a revelation this season. And OJ Ojarikre has been a defensive force for AdU.
Bolero of the week: The one and only Ayodeji "Vic" Balogun, This dude has been a dissapointment. No words to express my frustration on this dude.

Have to also have Janrey Pasaol as a bolero for missing 3 straight free throws, and his struggles in general cause he can't get his shots, His shot selection is just not possible cause he's so small he gets blocked easily

Ballers: ADAMSON SOARING FALCONS AND COACH NASH RACELA. They’ve earned it. Hindi ba ninyo napapansin, This Adamson team is like the 2014 FEU Team that coach Nash Handled. Walang pumapansin. regarded as the last team to even compete for Final 4. pero mukhang sila pa ang tuna na Dark Horse this season. Grabe si Nash talaga gumamit ng Tao. Seems like a Locked sa Final 4.
Bolero of the week: ROYCE ALFORQUE. Coach Sean Chamber, Please. Let the other Guys play instead of relying on Royce. Parang awa nyo na. Nandyan si Book. Nandyan si Jones. nandyan si Duque. Nandyan si Taboctaboc . Field them in.
Tanggap ko pa yung missed FTs ni Pasaol e. He’s a rookie, He will make mistakes and there will be growing pains. Pretty sure in time he will learn to navigate though the pressure and will eventually make those shots. Pero Ikaw Royce, Sakit mo sa mata panoorin. 😂😂😂

Great episode! Here are my ballers and boleros for this week:
    Ballers:
    1. PJ Palacielo (NU) - what a breakout game against DLSU and matching up against their bigs (Philips and Agunanne), he played really well and maximized the opportunity that was given to him.
    2. ADU - after a breakout loss by 30 pts against DLSU, great bounce back against UST and limiting them to only 6 points in the 3rd quarter. Everyone balled out and played great basketball. Kudos to coach Nash!
    3. Sean Tuano (ADMU) - the only player willing the team for ADMU in trying to getting a win and breakout performance against DLSU. He's a future star in this young ADMU team. Trust in Tab!
    Boleros:
    1. Henry Agunanne & Alex Konov (DLSU) - Henry needs to be more aggressive and read the defense a little quicker, he keeps slipping the ball whenever a Lasalle player passes it to him, hence, the turnover. Alex Konov is a bust so far, looks lost most of the time when it comes to defense and still hesitates to shoot the ball. Hope these two guys get better in the next games.
    2. FEU Tamaraws - Not a great start despite them being ranked higher than ADU in your power rankings. They've blown out a huge lead against NU and just couldn't score from the outside which killed their chances. Their veterans need to play with more composure.
    3. ADMU Blue Eagles - Its rare to see this team to start this season winless, but this what to expect with a young team. Someone has to take charge and lead them to a win to get their momentum going. I was shocked to see that they only scored 4 points against DLSU in the 3rd quarter which is unprecedented to a Tab Baldwin team but all of them have to contribute no matter what. Their FSA has been horrendous, he needs to play better defense and foul less.
Kudos to you guys! Cheers! Hoping for another great episode!
Btw, I think saw Maui at MOA last Sunday, honestly, I thought you were at least 6ft tall hehe. Hope I can see you guys in the next games!

Love the picks! Can’t argue with you on that. Regarding Agunnane, i do believe he can get better. Or at least be serviceable. He has shown flashes naman. Anyway, La Salle can afford to wait for him and Konov since they have Motor Mike and KQ. Though I have to say I’m a bit disappointed so far in Konov given the hype. Sa kanilang tatlo ni Bayla and Mahmood, si Bayla lang so far ang living up to the hype.

Lowkey baller of the week si Josh Lazaro, sobrang ganda ng improvement nya
Kinda baffled din na sobrang underrated ang Adamson ng karamihan since if you remove the pre-season struggles, I expected them to steal that 4th place since they almost made the playoffs last season without Jerom for like 95٪ of the season.

For me in my opinion, I believe that Gelo Crisostomo played very well, he was hitting shots against Ateneo and never looked back even if the lead was being cut down some points of the game. I also want to credit Andrei Dungo who was hitting 3's both against Ateneo and Adu if I'm not mistaken. I think my Bolero of the week the week is going to Sean Quitevis he is not taking any shots this week and I don't even know how he played against Dlsu oh my!! Also, Feu is my boleros of the week they looked lost against NU they lost to a team with no import, and they cannot make clutch shots win that game vs NU and they were the favorites to win that game.

Weird comp but Tuano kinda reminds me of early UAAP Joshua Webb minus the toyo. Both high energy athletic wings who excelled in transition but had major flaws to their game that prevent them from really being a star, chief among which was outside shooting, although Webb was a good ft shooter while Tuano can dribble with his left hand.
From a macro pov these eagles for the past two years remind me of the post Casio, pre Jeron Teng Archers. A decorated coach who may be on the move (pumaren/tab), a 3rd wheel on a finals team who struggled when he was thrust into being the main guy and then left before exhausting his, eligibility (Mangahas/Ballungay), unreliable and inconsitent vet pgs which drew the ire of fans (Atkins/espinosa), tons of young guys who aren’t quite franchise player material, and best of all bigs who disappoint (Ferdinand/Balogun) haha. The similarities are just uncanny looking at it

But I dont think we expected them to be this bad. Dami rin kasi talaga nawala and maraming bago. Tama sinabi ni Tom Brady, it takes time for college guys to learn a program. Looks like we're slowly improving, even Balogun (and I heard he was in tears after the last game, shows that he cares. and I hope he can channel this energy to improvement) Our rookies, Bahay and Espina look good (for rookie standards).

Blue Eagles are 0-3 at the moment, but these are against the teams that they were not expected to win (gave UST a run for their money until the 4th qtr). If they can somehow get 3 wins by the end of the first round, they will have a fair chance at the 4th spot.
A year ago I commented on one of the videos wondering why Josh Lazaro has been out of the rotation despite being a blue chip recruit. Glad to see him stepping up this season. Not quite the go to guy yet, but with the lack of options he's being forced to be one.
At the rate DLSU is playing the last 3 games, it will be tough for them to beat UP. They just have multiple guys they can throw at KQ, which will disrupt the offense. I just don't see him as a primary playmaker at this point. He's better as a secondary playmaker and this is where they will miss Evan Nelle. Also, if Agunnane could not capitalize on Ateneo's frontline, what can he do against the UP frontcourt?

Agree with Josh Lazaro. These offensive skills have always been there. He just didn't have the confidence the past seasons. We're glad he's finally living up to his potential
Hmm if KQ playmakes like he did vs Ateneo, then we have confidence that he can be that primary offensive hub. Avoid the contested shots, get other guys involved then things will open up for him
With how KQ has evolved, I will not be surprised if we see a KQ being the ultimate playmaker - Gab

Dear Boleros, thinking past this thread, napapaisip lang ako ng "how do you solve a problem like KQ?" Kulang na lang kasi lumakad sa tubig. Well, in an FB post where there was a chorus of opinions saying opposing teams will now try to lock down KQ, as in dikit na defensa / switching man to man sa kaniya para ma-neutralize (good luck).
Then I counter-proposed: "what if they just let KQ run wild but lock down everyone else? Deny the pass to and from KQ but let him shoot all he wants from outside?" Tapos may sumagot na "iyan ang ginawa kay Mbala nung tinalo ng AdMU ang DlSU." Puede ba yon, and do you think icould pull off something like this?
The lack of a Nelle-esque PG seems to suggest this could work. On the other hand if everyone else clicks, hetot na yung kabila. But which is more likely to happen, and which team cou;d best pull off such a thing? Kasi pag nilockdown yung everyone else, mapipilitan si KQ mag James Harden: 40 mins of sariling sikap. Baka malaspag at hindi umabot sa FF (in the extreme).
    Your thoughts sirs?

    • @bolerosph
      @bolerosph  18 днів тому +2

I think you are on point. The best way to stop KQ is to have him do all of the scoring. Make him work to get points. We saw this in the Filoil Finals vs UP. When he tries to score every time, he gets tired and the offense stagnates
Contrast that to how he played vs Ateneo a few days ago. Getting everyone involved, moving the ball, etc. That is the best KQ
As to who can pull it off, definitely UP because they have Francis Lopez and Aldous Torculas to a lesser extent. Guys who can play him 1-on-1 so others can match up and lock them down - Gab
