If you could list/link the products you use it would be super helpful, great bud tho, really helpful, good for my steam/diesel punk as well as post apo!
Hi! Thanks for the great tips! I was wondering what product you would use to seal the powder on the leather, you mention it right at the very end but I'm a little unclear on what would work without removing them (I typically use my wax mix to seal my leatherwork). Thanks!
Hello! I've looked through the questions a bit but haven't really found anything fitting what I need best. I want to weather a bow quiver, however the leather is dyed pure black! Would you recommend any other ways to get a more nature look on the black leather specifically? Thanks!
the best bet with black leather if you want to give it a more worn finish, is to really rub down the finish, them apply some leather fat to it. It will reseal the leather and give it a VERY worn finish
Ahoy mate! Great vid! What do you think - would real ashes or dirt also work for this powdering? I've also found that Caligraphy ink actually works good with leather - what are your thoughts on that? We are preparing a workshop soon for our new orc group.
Pimedus I’ve used ash on costume before but I wouldn’t do it again due to the smell that’s then attached to the kit as a result. Real dirt has the issue that it will cause issues with stitches and doesn’t tend to give the overall look you want regardless of material. Fullers earth is a popular powder used with weathering that’s widely available.
Hayden Myers it would depend on if the prop or costume is static or repeatedly handled. You would likely need minor touch ups after a few takes / reset dependent on the answer to the above
I found your video to be very interesting and actually quite relaxing and therapeutic to watch
thanks inidy!
Great tutorial as always
thanks so much
My too new looking leather cowboy/bush hat will be getting this treatment.
one could always tie it to the car and drive few rounds around the block :P .joke aside, nicely done. professionally too. keep em coming ;) .
haha thanks! glad the newer tutorials are going down well
Thanks! That really helps (actually I have everything at home to try this)
awesome good luck, glad you found it useful

theres a variety you can use, i use a matt sealant via air brush VERY lightly dusted on so as not to affect the finish of the leather itself
@@DustMonkey Thank you so much! I'll look for that at my usual leathercraft shop!

What is that patina oil you used? And weathering powder? I’d love to be able to do that.
Thank you!
It’s all from an amazing brand called Patin-a

How permanently does the weathering powder stick on when in use on something like a film set?
