@David Mesut to so the long range, do side b as if you were inputting a smash attack with b, and to do the short range, do side b as if you were inputting a side tilt with b
Casra A smash attack input for rod is when the left analog stick, and the button are pressed at the same time in the forward direction. The same way you’d do a forward smash attack with the A button, is the same way you’d do an extended rod toss with the B button. It’s the exact same inputs. Hope this helped, I’ll be happy to answer more of your questions!
I'm actually really curious on what "buffering" a move means. But apart from that I find that whenever I play Isabelle I get stuck in combos or situtations where a lot of her moves are either too slow or aren't strong enough. I'm pretty new to smash bros so does anyone know what I should try practicing?
Buffering means inputting a move pretty much right before your previous action ends so that it comes out the instant it can. Now Isabelle is actually a floaty character so she stays in the air longer, which means two things: it can actually be harder for some characters to combo her because she can break out of the combo either naturally, by jumping, or you can use her neutral air, which is her fastest aerial and will help combo break. It also helps if you hold the control stick away as you're being combo'ed to make it harder for your opponent to connect their next hit. But what that also means is because she stays in the air longer, it makes it easier for your opponent juggle you... so they don't need to guarantee their hits connect one after the other, they can just keep Isabelle in the air because she has a tough time getting down. In this situation, sometimes it's best to just hold in the direction of the ledge and try to get back to the ground that way; don't bother trying to hit your opponent on the way down, most the time it's not worth it. You can also B-reverse Isabelle's Pocket to mix up where you land, but otherwise that's pretty much all you can do. Tl;dr version: being combo'd (hit horizontally): hold away / jump / neutral air to break combo , being juggled (hit vertically): go to ledge / b-reverse Pocket

Edit: I forgot to mention it, but as I implied, what you should be practicing , is actually that b-reversing Pocket. It’s very helpful when Isabelle is getting hit, changes the direction she is falling, plus Pocket makes her invulnerable for a bit.

I love using Isabelle more close/mid range but I think other characters I use like Roy, Pika, or Inkling may be better for close range aggression. Ironically, the more safer and ranged I play with Isabelle, the more likely I’ll lose. Others around me say I should just drop her due to the archetype incompatibility but I rather not. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

I'm having trouble with the part with late hit of nair, is it the position on how'd you land it in order to consider it a combo? I always seem to land on the upper part of the character or towards the head, thanks for reading this! (This tutorial helps a ton ^^)
Definitely try to drift in to them AFTER initiating the neutral air. Eventually you will find and memorize the sweet spot of where to start the neutral air to assure it.

Villager is a bit better than Isabelle in most regards. Isabelle debatably has a stronger ledge trapping game, while Villager for the most part has a stronger everything else.

I think isabelle struggles with sword characters, cloud being one can serve as a good way to handle them.
I pretty sure at some percent if you go up with neutral air and land with it after you land you can do down tilt.
Most percentages this is possible!

Villager is a bit better than Isabelle in most regards. Isabelle debatably has a stronger ledge trapping game, while Villager for the most part has a stronger everything else.
