Trevor, As an electrical guy myself, I truly appreciate the challenges you come across. You always figure it out though and your patience is incredible. Awesome work Trevor!!
I was an electrician for almost 40 years, and wiring big commercial buildings are easier than vehicle wiring. I chased a short somewhere under the hood of my 1991 250 for months, the battery would drain in about three or four days if I didn't run it. I had the whole harness cut open and carefully looked at every single wire from point A to point B. I spent months looking for it, then it just went away. I must have moved something that fixed it. After it stopped draining I put a new battery in it, and sold it before it came back.

I remember having my 87 wrangler. It's had the 4.2 in line 6 punched 020, flat tops, offenhauser aluminum 4 barrel intake, 450 holley, hooker full length header, head work, and exhaust. For what it was it was a torque beast. Lol
The 4.0 liter inline 6 cylinder that came standard on the Cherokees was a bulletproof engine offering a good amount of torque, especially given the vehicles size and weight. I loved my old Cherokee great vehicle that, despite having issues, was dependable. The two doors especially make great working vehicles, just take the backseat bottom out and fold the back seat back down; lots of space on a vehicle that will get you just about anywhere. With 4-6 tube sands bags strapped in the back they make about the perfect plow vehicles, especially with studded snow tires. While I managed to get the Ram 2500 stuck while plowing I never got the Jeep stuck. The Cherokee with a bigger engine and better transmission would be even better; I always thought it would be nice to go diesel.
My guess for what the secret mission is: Matt dropped the word 'golden' when discussing it, so it must involve Ed. Matt has previously stated that only the Banana is small enough for the recovery. My guess is that Matt is going to recover Ed's old Jeep, broken down and stuck up there someplace.
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery I can’t wait! It’s crazy how consistently good all your content is, I sometimes get bored with a channel after a while but not this one! Been here since 20k subs and it just gets better all the time!👍
A shame it seems (universally..) car manufactures have totally forgotten the KISS method. Designing vehicles with high quality parts with a minimum of 'over technology' would be a dream. Amazing those who can DIY it themselves marrying old (tried & true) technology and the new (aftermarket parts) do it better than 'stock' show what is possible. Matt's Morrvair a glowing/extreme example.
Hope you guys do a follow up on that stroker motor. I've been on the fence about ordering one of them for my jeep. Love to hear after 6 months how it's doing
I had the same trouble at first with my yellow 05 rubicon after switching to a Golen stroker. Took a while to work the air out of the fuel injection to get a good idle. Then some overheating due to air trapped in the coolant system (my fault) and small, irritating problems with wiring (my fault again). The engine is great though! Once those were worked out, you can really feel the extra horses and torque! 👍👍 (2 thumbs up for Golen racing strokers!)
Easy to pick the bad bits with any job, for me it would make up for it with the relationships you have with your crew, these guys and girls are awesome and clearly have a lot of fun together in other areas as well as on the recovery. Probably helps Iv always been massively into recovery . Very jealous whilst sat here over in the uk!!
Trevor's facial expression at the 4:55 mark. I know what that means, I've been in them shoes. I interpret that expression as do you want it done right or do you want it done in 10 minutes? Props to the whole crew! You're an inspiration to XJ (and Corvair?) owners everywhere.
Lizzy said it right, "Damn!" Sounds great, well done guys, especially Trevor. I'd go crazy with wiring. Rudy, dude, focus focus. Great video and I am picking up on the time crunch and curious as hell about the recovery in the Sierras.
I really like Trevor. He's intelligent, smart, keeps me laughing and he patient. Trevor 4uns his butt off climbing and even broke his a$$ in an earlier vid. Trevorm should do his own show in addition to this. People would watch it because he's an interesting fellow. Thanks for vid guys and God bless.
Having many yrs experience with the Amc/Jeep 4.0 6-inlines, to get the full benefit fan draw, I can't imagine trying to go without a tight fan shroud. With all the engine bay openings, tornado like winds will be creating big back pressure against the radiator, fans work. I missed seeing x-mission coolers on the ck-off list. Matt, thks for the vids, keep the fun going.

That thing sounds MEAN! Still running on the stock engine computer? Hook up a scanner! :)
Ivan you need to make a trip out there and get her going!
scanner. lmao.
Make a road trip with Eric O do a meet and great lol 😂
Yup have it tuned for sure
I had a very similar problem and it was a loose TDC sensor. Hopefully it's that easy of a fix for you fellas too
The 4.0 liter inline 6 cylinder that came standard on the Cherokees was a bulletproof engine offering a good amount of torque, especially given the vehicles size and weight.
Hey, you were should have won something with that guess.
Trevor's "accessory power" is charm. I hope you find your charm Trevor. Try looking in the various videos where you make us all smile!
I’m predicting it’s going to be a completely different engine when you get it running right, should really rip!👌
My TJ with the 4.0 was doing that same limp mode thing at 2000 rpm. It ended up being the coil pack
Hope you guys do a follow up on that stroker motor. I've been on the fence about ordering one of them for my jeep. Love to hear after 6 months how it's doing
Build it yourself. They are super easy.
Excellent guys, we wish you many great recoveries with Banana Beast, from South Africa 🇿🇦 👍
I'm increasingly convinced that Murphy's involved with anything theoretical!
Murphy? He was an optomist!
Murphy wrote the Law as pertaining to others. In this case, bad parts are suspect. ;-)
Murphy is ALWAYS involved .
I see fabrats changed your mind on the badlands winch and great job on the banana I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the build come along
Great job guys for getting the jeep started and enjoy your vacation in Florida’s, I was there 2 weeks ago in Orlando bless one love
This is the best UA-cam channel going! Would love to work here!
Over 100 in summer and climbing around 140 degree broken down vehicles...
why ya talking bout twitch streamers LuL
Sorry, but the words Lizzy said were "Oh yeah, wooh and sweet."
@@millwork3319 Damn, heard it wrong.
i love that im currently figuring out what i need to do to my jeep and you guys are doing this!
