Note: there was no mag well conversion. Izmash cut the magwell and placed the mag catch. I was confused.

I luckily found one unfired. It was an older gentleman selling it. He bought it because they weren’t gonna be imported anymore. Amazing craftsmanship on these rifles

TGI (Tennessee Guns International) They had some really nice combloc firearms. I have an early factory /26\ SKS from TGI.
They ended up getting shut down by aft/ atf. Allegedly, illegally importing full auto ak’s … 🤷🏻 You can lookup the news clips about it. It was quite the buzz here locally at the time. Great rifle you scored there! Definitely a nice little piece of ak history.

      Thanks for the info!
I knew about RWI but didn't know about tgi. Good thing atf exist. Otherwise life would be great!

I have two Saiga 308s in different barrel sizes. I moved the FCG forward and installed the pistol grips. I need to do the front end conversion but never trusted myself to do them. Still on my to do list.

I have the same rifle from 2003 which I converted myself using parts from Carolina Shooter Supply. I paired it with an Eotech XPS-2 and 3X magnifier via side mount rail. Super accurate and can knock out clothes pins from 50 yards away.

The only issue mine has from conversion or any modification is that the rivet hole for the trigger pin was wallowed out so the new trigger pin was moving around on that side. I ended up getting the machinist at the gun shop I worked at at the time to make a bushing for it. I JB Welded it on from the inside and so far it holds. I just need to shoot it some to verify it's strength but I don't have any worries.

Thats the exact same saiga i have. But my grip is different. Mine has the molot grip and they didnt molest my safety lever. Only paid $300 back in the day. The only thing i did to it was added a zhukov folding stock. Oh and my front sight is pinned not dimpled. Its one i will never part with.

I think the stipple is there to cover up the "Please read owner's manuel before use" engraving. My Saiga (imported by EAA Corp in Florida) came with that horrible engraving on the side that Im going to cover up one day lol.

I think they were previous importer markings, and when they changed hands, they were covered up.

I heard the stippling part is where the original importer fell through and they had to grind it off

I have a 2003 model that came with “Dragonav” stock. Changed it out a couple times,it’s got a ViLTOR stock on it now. Wish I wouldn’t have sold that stock though. But it’s been gone through in th last 12 years,go to rifle

I bought one in '03, haven't done much other than a tapco folding stock, only a few 100 rounds thru her. I've been looking up the value and keep getting different prices. Does anyone know of an accurate value, I paid $333.
