You're probably the most legit person I've seen do make up. Every other tutorial I come across the person is waaaaaay to happy/perky. I like the laid back approach. And you gave good instructions.
Holy! At first I saw.. 8+ minutes on just applying gel liner?! But I watched it and I have to say that this is the best, most thorough and helpful tutorial EVERRRR!!! I always feared gel because brushes are difficult to control and I feel like they are too thick compared to a pencil or liquid eyeliner but after watching this, I believe I can do it! Thank you so much, Jen!!! Love this tutorial SO MUCH!
Asian "monolids" are so beautiful and interesting. I wish more Asian women embraced them. You pretty much have a huge canvas to do whatever you want. One of the most amazing eyeshapes in my opinion.
However, it's really annoying when my eyeliner and eyeshadow disappears into the folds of my eye. Also, because I have a sort of mini-crease, sometimes my eyeliner smudges so there is a black line going across my eyeshadow.
It's actually really annoying to have mono lids because you don't have a huge canvas especially if the canvas disappears. . . .It's taken me like 5 years to figure out my own make up.
Well, I originally have uneven eyelids :/ I have to make my right eye into double eyelid to make it symmetrical. I agree with that the monolid eyes can do more things.. My small double eyelid hides all of my eye shadow work :( but it makes my eyes bigger though..
I'm double lidded as well and always have the problem of smudging! I'm really glad I found you to go to for makeup tutorials that I can really apply to myself! Thank you :)
@vintagehummingbird I don't have a problem with Wet n Wild gel liner cracking. It's more flexible than most liquid eyeliners so I prefer it for that reason. Cracking/flaking liner is my pet peeve!
I just started watching your videos and I have to say two things- 1- I think your slight lisp is ADORABLE. It is seriously so cute, I just love listening to you speak! 2- I always see Asian girls getting surgery and using things to get rid of their monolids, but I really can't figure out why! Your eyes are just gorgeous and even though I personally don't have monolids I just want to thank you for being okay with yourself the way that you are. You're beautiful! :)
I have been looking for a good tutorial on this eyeliner look for ages. Yours is definitely the best! you explain everything so well. Hopefully I won't keep doing it wrong now!
thanks for this tutorial so helpful, was having a hard time before when applying gel eyeliner and struggling how to achieve those winged style. Now, i got it perfect hahah!!
i need to get some of this gel liner.ive never used a gel liner but it looks like it is very easy to use. perfect tutorial on the perfect winged eyeliner.
Thanks!! I have monolid eyes, it was very difficult for me to apply eyeliners. but after watching the Video, i feel like i can do it !!! please have more videos on monolid eyes!! love u
@quitto91 It probably doesn't need to be as thick as you think! When my eyes are open the line doesn't show, but it is still enhanced when I look down or blink. Try less liner & more mascara. ;)
You can try adding an eyeshadow right onto the liner right after you apply the liner. For me, I find the eyeshadow ends up absorbing the moisture so I don't have to wait for the liner to dry before moving onto my next eye
hey jen thanks for the video. Can you do a tutorial on how to get the eyelashes on? It's always at a weird angle/messy for me. Perhaps if i could get an idea of how long u wait for the glue to dry, cut it and apply it I could be more successful. Thanks love your videos
yay, thank you so much, this is perfect for everyday, usually i just do random things and hope it looks good, so my eyeliner look is different everyday, now i have a solid routine. thank you!!
This tutorial is what I really need. I'm also a monolid and I really love using gel eyeliner but they smudge after I open my eyes.. Now I can wear gel eyeliner.. hurray! thanks ;'D
I wish I could meet you in person so that you can teach me this look because I am monolid but my eyes aren't the same as yours so I can't get the wing to look as nice as yours. I'll keep trying different methods. Thank you!
I love you eye videos can you do more tutorials on lips? I'm always at a gloss whenever I go to the aisle and there are gozillia textures, finishes and colors!
Great look Jen :) . I have a hard time wearing eyeliner on my waterline/bottom lash line. I've tried a few gel, pencil and liquid eyeliners out ( including MAC's blacktrack for 2 days now...) but all of them either dissapeared after a few hours or just ran down creating raccoon eyes...I wear contact lenses. Any suggestions for a long lasting bottom lashline/waterline eyeliner? Any comment would be appreciated! Thanks :)
My first and last gel liner I used was stills smudge pot and It always gave me raccoon eyes by noon. Because of this I started using liquid liner and I like it but its to hard to apply for me so I'm thinking of going back to gel liners. My eyes look pretty much the same as yours. Can you suggest me a gel liner? I'm okay with high end products too.
hi jen nice tutorial i really like this style of lining the eyes. by the way i have a question, what eyeshadow can be use to pair with a royal blue colored dress? thanks
I have very tapered double eyelids. The lids have quite a lot of skin (enough so that when I use gel liners, I have to pull the skin tight in order to draw a straight line) and my eyes open pretty wide. So when I try to wear just eyeliner, I cannot open my eyes until they dry because it will transfer, and the majority of the line is not visible when my eyes are open. How do you recommend I apply my gel liner?
I'm really new to makeup so please forgive if this is a really amateur question. Can you make wings like that with liquid eyeliner and pointed brush? The kind of brush that comes with the liquid eyeliner? Or do you need the kind of brush that Jen has?
Yes you can use a liquid eyeliner and a pointy brush to do winged eyeliner. It might be a little bit harder if you use a very small brush but practice makes perfect^^ I wouldn't recommend starting with a waterproof because it might be harder to erase if you mess up.
Jen! I noticed that you wore the black elastic band for your fish tail braid? Lol, but I was just wondering where you bought those small elastic bands? I can't find them anywhere!
Hi! this is your first video that I have watched and I just subcribed!!! :)) the tutorial was so precise and clear which is what I need!!! Thank u much!!!
only one of my eyes is monolid so its really hard for me to get them looking the same without having a very thick line. do you have any tips or suggestions for that?
Annyeonghaseyo Jenny! You surely do know how to apply make up and other cosmetics and make it as a very natural look =) I'm glad i found your videos because I kept finding tutorials for almost a year for a great tutorial. Im a fan of Koreans too so I love all your videos. They are so great =) I hope I can go to Korea someday to buy those cosmetics you have especially the BB Cream because theres no Asian Cosmetics here in Canada. I am Asian but Im living here for now, Aja! Fighting!
would it be easier to apply/better looking if i stretch my eye to the side by pulling it with my finger? bec i cant close one eye without it twitching :)) or would pulling it change the desired look? thanks :)
Thank you for this tutorial! =D One question, my eyelids are uneven one double and the other is double as well but has an extra crease =/ So when I apply eyeliner it just looks weird =/ What to do?
Depends on the product and primer, honestly. I don't think you should be going that close to your eyelash line that it's quite literally on your tideline. But we all have our preferences. I tend to just curl the middle-ends of my lashes to make them look longer, but if you have short lashes, then idek what to tell you.
u earn a new subbie.ur tutorial is very effective since i also have the same asian eyes as urs now m going for ur other eye tutorials.thanks for the video.:3
I have a very small double lid and the lid is hooded so my eyeliner smudges all the time! I'll try the infallable eye shadow setting trick! Does a true powder work as well? Thanks!
What do you do when you're doing eyeliner and you mess up do you erase all the shadow? because when i do winged eyeliners, they're always different on each eye.
@retrovilleee I have the exact same problem, I usually make the line a little higher towards the end of my eye and I flick it up. You have to play with it until you get the look you want. Practice!
You're probably the most legit person I've seen do make up. Every other tutorial I come across the person is waaaaaay to happy/perky. I like the laid back approach.
And you gave good instructions.
For some reason your voice is really calming..
Asian "monolids" are so beautiful and interesting. I wish more Asian women embraced them. You pretty much have a huge canvas to do whatever you want. One of the most amazing eyeshapes in my opinion.
Agreed! I have deep-set eyes, which really limits what I can do with my shadow & liner.
However, it's really annoying when my eyeliner and eyeshadow disappears into the folds of my eye. Also, because I have a sort of mini-crease, sometimes my eyeliner smudges so there is a black line going across my eyeshadow.
It's actually really annoying when eyeliner and eyeshadow disappears into the folds. Pretty pointless putting on anything.
My small double eyelid hides all of my eye shadow work :( but it makes my eyes bigger though..
i love how you always list the products you use, it really is the most helpful!
What I love about this video is you show the how you are holding the brush. Would love to see more tips like this.
I'm double lidded as well and always have the problem of smudging! I'm really glad I found you to go to for makeup tutorials that I can really apply to myself! Thank you :)
You have no idea how useful this is! I always have a problem with this, you make it look super easy!
@vintagehummingbird I don't have a problem with Wet n Wild gel liner cracking. It's more flexible than most liquid eyeliners so I prefer it for that reason. Cracking/flaking liner is my pet peeve!
I love that you get so close so we can see exactly what you are doing. Thanks!
I just started watching your videos and I have to say two things-
1- I think your slight lisp is ADORABLE.
Thank you soo much! I have never found a makeup person with the exact same eye shape as me. You pull it off so elegantly and I can't wait to try this!
I finally got my TonyMoly eyeliner - you're right! It's absolutely amazing, and it doesn't get all gunky or anything at the outer corner. THANK YOU!
I'm an Asian girl and I tried to find make up videos to learn from and your videos are perfect for me
i need to get some of this gel liner.ive never used a gel liner but it looks like it is very easy to use. perfect tutorial on the perfect winged eyeliner.
i think when you do your make up simple and crisp like this it's gorgeous.
I like your closeups in your older videos--it makes it easier to see how you apply the makeup
Already have my makeup on but I'm going to try it out tomorrow. I have that brush and that eyeliner so I'm set. Wish me luck!
Thanks Jen! This is super helpful! Eyelining is always tricky for my monolid eyes. I really appreciate this tutorial :)
Jen! You should do a video on your all-time-favorites! Like your all time favorite blush, eyeliner, foundation, stuff like that! :)
I have hooded lids and I love gel eyeliner, so this was super helpful for me. Thanks for the great tips!
Thanks!! I have monolid eyes, it was very difficult for me to apply eyeliners. but after watching the Video, i feel like i can do it !!! please have more videos on monolid eyes!! love u
I've watched so many videos on this and finally I think I understand the best way the achieve it :) ur instructors are awesome :) thanks!!
@quitto91 It probably doesn't need to be as thick as you think! When my eyes are open the line doesn't show, but it is still enhanced when I look down or blink. Try less liner & more mascara. ;)
you are so helpful! im a monolid and your tutorial helps out so much! thank you Jen!
Thanks, Jen! Finally, I found a tutorial that I can follow for my monolid eyes!
Coz of u i am now able to draw winged eye thank u ❤️
You can try adding an eyeshadow right onto the liner right after you apply the liner. For me, I find the eyeshadow ends up absorbing the moisture so I don't have to wait for the liner to dry before moving onto my next eye
I just brought two gel liners. This video will help me put them on...Thanks so much and I just subbed you. I will watch more of your videos today.
Thanks for the tutorial! I need to practice using gel! So glad you used a drugstore brand also!!!
honestly, i love it! I have monolid eyes too, so it is really helpful for me.
hey jen thanks for the video. Can you do a tutorial on how to get the eyelashes on? It's always at a weird angle/messy for me. Perhaps if i could get an idea of how long u wait for the glue to dry, cut it and apply it I could be more successful. Thanks love your videos
You have beautiful eyes!! Thank you for these wonderful makeup tutorials!
This is awesome thanks! I've been doing wings for a while but the line just wasn't coming out straight but this helped me a lot!!
love all your video jenn , you are just an inspiration of me .i used to hate my monolids but you just change me ,making me proud of it :)))love you
yay, thank you so much, this is perfect for everyday, usually i just do random things and hope it looks good, so my eyeliner look is different everyday, now i have a solid routine. thank you!!
This tutorial is what I really need. I'm also a monolid and I really love using gel eyeliner but they smudge after I open my eyes.. Now I can wear gel eyeliner.. hurray! thanks ;'D
This is such a precise and helpful video! Thank you for doing it zoomed in!
You make it look easy. I have monolid too and I just look stupid every time I try to do eyeliner. Grrrrr!
same fam
Great video Jen! Very informative. You're very good at giving step by step helpful instructions. Love your hair in the video too. Very cute :)
I wish I could meet you in person so that you can teach me this look because I am monolid but my eyes aren't the same as yours so I can't get the wing to look as nice as yours. I'll keep trying different methods. Thank you!
that's a really helpful video, because I'm using gel eyeliner everyday!! thank you so much :)
I love you eye videos can you do more tutorials on lips? I'm always at a gloss whenever I go to the aisle and there are gozillia textures, finishes and colors!
I have an oily skin and I always get an eyeliner crease and smudges underneath my eyes. Great tip using an eyeshadow.
Thanks :)
you're so helpful when it comes to basic tutorial! thank you so much jen!! :) xx
Thank you so much it has been so hard to put make up on since i'm a monolid but you've made it so easy for me thank you :D
Thank you so much for the recommendation! I'm going to check it out now. I've been meaning to go back to gel eyeliner; it seems to be a good staple.
I think that angled brushes work better with mono lid eyes because the line needs to be thicker for it to show up when you open your eyes.
I heard that essence gel liner is fantastic!! So is wet n wild's creme liner, which she uses in this vid
Jen, you're a mind reader. I was just going to DM you on Twitter asking for a tutorial on how to perfect a winged eyeliner look. Thank you!
What lipstick snd blush did you use? :) So pretty.
You explained this so much better than others! Great video!
xo
this is explained so much better than other videos ive seen :)
hey jen! can you please do a tutorial for the look that Hyuna was wearing in "troublemaker"?? it was gorgeous, and so are you!!
Thank youuu! I've always had trouble with winged eyeliner cause of my monolids! XOXO
omg i have a monolid and im so glad i found ur channel. hopefully i can look half as good as you :)
hi jen nice tutorial i really like this style of lining the eyes. by the way i have a question, what eyeshadow can be use to pair with a royal blue colored dress? thanks
i use to never line my eyes after doing the e/s part and now i def must. just not that good at it yet. great tips.
@cocoabutter0006 Yes I am. My parents are both Korean and I was born in the US. :)
this kinda thick eyeliner would not look good on me but on the asian beauties like urself it looks just amazing !
a dupe for the r and r brush is the eyeliner brush that comes with the physicians formula cream gel liners trios except the handle is much shorter
im glad your not using something that's so expensive
I'm not sure if you've tried it, but if you have, what do you think of the tonymoly gel liner. Is it long lasting and smudge proof? Thanks :) oxx
Hi, thank you for the tutorial!
Which lipstick are you wearing in this video? I love this shade!
I do have double eyelids but this worked the most!!! Thanks so much!
This is off topic, but that blue colour of your shirt looks so pretty on you.
It might be a little bit harder if you use a very small brush but practice makes perfect^^ I wouldn't recommend starting with a waterproof because it might be harder to erase if you mess up.
do you wash your eyeliner brush everyday?
Jen! I noticed that you wore the black elastic band for your fish tail braid? Lol, but I was just wondering where you bought those small elastic bands? I can't find them anywhere!
WOW love this winged eye!! and you are so pretty!! asian girls are truley the prettiest girls!! seriouslyyyyy
Love this eyeliner! Staying power is beyond impressive, just wish it wasn't as dry.
Hi!
this is your first video that I have watched and I just subcribed!!! :)) the tutorial was so precise and clear which is what I need!!! Thank u much!!!
you should put a matte black shadow over the gel line immediately. it works for me and i have approx the same eye type.
YOU LOOK LIKE SANDARA😍😱 UR SOOOO PRETTY💕
omg thank you! i just bought a gel liner & had no clue how to use it ^-^
What if you have one monolid and one...not? Do you make your eyeliner even or do you make your eyes look the same? I'm conflicted haha
Does gel liner smudge or smear over time? Also if I use an eyelash curler after I put on the gel liner, will it all come off?
Thanks Jenn I found it, can't believe I didn't see it before Duh! this one is so simple and easy thanks a bunch! and have a great weekend!
I'm italian but i don't understand very well when you speak, so i see your video because you very very goog ! thanks for your tutorial ...
only one of my eyes is monolid so its really hard for me to get them looking the same without having a very thick line. do you have any tips or suggestions for that?
Hair tutorial please! :) it looks so simple but you make it look really cute/chic
which one is better to use, gel eyeliner from a container, or gel eyeliner pencil?
Annyeonghaseyo Jenny! You surely do know how to apply make up and other cosmetics and make it as a very natural look =) I'm glad i found your videos because I kept finding tutorials for almost a year for a great tutorial. Which is better in general liquid eyeliner or gel eyeliner?
What do you do when you're doing eyeliner and you mess up do you erase all the shadow? because when i do winged eyeliners, they're always different on each eye.
I have a certain eye shape that winged eyeliner just looks weird, Im sure it can be pulled off, I just need to practice more.. thanx for this.
I just wanted to know...does that Gel eyeliner you used from wet n wild smudge on your lids/under the eyes & etc...? Thanks ^^
Hi Jen! Do you have any tips on how to do this look on uneven eyes? my right eye is monolid and the left one is doublelid.
Tony Moly has a great gel eyeliner with a sleek design that allows for travel without worrying about the dirt the brush may attract :)
@retrovilleee I have the exact same problem, I usually make the line a little higher towards the end of my eye and I flick it up. You have to play with it until you get the look you want. Practice!
