That's one of the things I REALLY MUST DO before I die. The hotel complex management told me that the Waterpark Theme Room is undergoing renovations, hence why it was delisted from the website early in 2018.
Polynesian room! My family usually stayed in a Hollywood room when they were all black tile and black carpet, but one time I talked them into the Polynesian room... Not because I was into Tiki yet (NOW I am, but not then), but because I wanted to play G.I.Joes on the rock wall over the Jacuzzi. It was awesome.
I too preferred the slides mostly beige. We stayed in this room about 20 years ago and it was so fun to keep watch over the park at night. I’m so glad fate entrusted you with the awesome rolling shade!💙
Yo I never thought Anyone else cared about the experience of walking around the mall at night, I did it at Christmas night when my dad wanted to get me and and brother out of the hotel well my mom finished wrapping presents, It was a really cool experience
So now, the cat is out of the bag... this has been my pad since 2006, when staying at the FLH / WEM... I liked the place enough to keep quiet about it... now the world knows! Another EXCELLENT video, with great editing! You did forget to mention one of the excellent features of 438... you get the smell of the waterpark at no extra charge! At night, when it is quiet in the mall, you can hear all of the birds living in the trees seen at 4:37. When they had the dolphins, they would often become active late at night, and start playing at 2am. I witnessed this a few times. I agree the mall is awesome at night. We used to like going to the original Phase 3 food court to play cards well after midnight, and the sound of the many walkway arch fountains was a relaxing backdrop... all gone now. :( Night time is also a great time for skateboarding in the mall !! The water-pattern carpet and the tiles around the jacuzzi RULE !! Actually everything about this room rules; the details of the beach scenery and the boats on the walls, and the powered window shade waterpark scene. You are not alone liking the slides better when they were beige! Now the colored paint is peeling on them, and they don't look so great. Perfect ending for the video too!
You know, I made a mental note to talk about the smell. I actually quite enjoyed it, and was wondering how I was going to communicate that it was a pleasant smell rather than overpowering. Oh well, can't remember it all I guess... I can always count on you to fill in the gaps I miss!!
Lake Nipissing they no longer are taking reservations for that room.. it's literally no longer in there computer system I called today to book the room for September last person who stayed was you I found out LMFAO.
I never noticed it until I was on the stairway (directly in front of the windows) on the way up to the bungee jump in 2005. I asked at the FLH front desk and they told me it was this hotel room, and I have stayed in 438 from 2006 until 2018, whenever I am in Edmonton to visit the waterpark.
Can we get a what happened to the tube rapid rides at the waterpark? I moved in 2010, and noticed they got cemented in and closed somewhere between. Horrible decision imo. One of the best rides.
Wait you can actually go inside the mall at night when after closed? All night until it opens in the morning? Get to do something like go for a run? Or skateboard or biking?
I gather China Town is the former Bourbon Street...I worked there in 86...i remember being in each Phase as they opened, as well as 3 weeks before Ph 3 opened. The mall was so quiet early mornings cept the joggers.
When I use to work nightshifts in the winter, I would go to the mall on my days off and go jogging. It was warm inside, well lit and the mall even had security, making it much safer then jogging outside.
I have the weirdest reaction to your narration of these videos...your narration is just fine, but your voice sounds a lot like the children’s show character Bear, from Bear in the Big Blue House, and, with your enthusiastic delivery, I just get this odd picture in my head of Bear telling all about these fun things to do at the mall...
Thanks for the memories. I used to walk home from my friend's place late at night and I would cut though the mall. I would enter on 178 st side and exit on 170 st side. Was very quiet and yes I almost always had the mall to myself on these walks. That was 1988-1989.
We stayed in that room at the end of November 2016 and it was great. One of the best things was that when we were out shopping we were wearing shorts and sandals in the mall and walking around at 7:00 in the morning there are a few places in the food courts that are already open. we had a great time
i just found your channel today and i can honestly say im impressed, i go to this mall just about every weekend bu your videos showed a new side i havent seen before! im currently working on a few video projects involving the mall (prior to seeing this channel) as well and would be awesome to bump into you while there. keep up the good work, you gained a new subscriber, from a edmonton man to a edmonton man, i sallute you!
So called to book this room today for our anniversary. Apparently it is undergoing renovations and they will not give any info on when it will be done or if it will for sure be reopening.
I have been in many of the theme rooms at the FLH since 1986 - Hollywood, Polynesian, Truck, Railway, Executive... but *this was the best one of all* and the last ten years I have been in Edmonton, this was the room I would reserve. Since my typical stay in Edmonton would be 5 to 7 days, pretty likely I spent 50 nights in the Waterpark Room. The FLH didn't really go out of their way advertise this room in their brochures, so it was like a well kept secret. Most of the housekeeping staff I spoke with even considered 438 to be the nicest room in the hotel... certainly the most interesting theme with the view of the waterpark. The fact this is now shut is a huge disappointment.
I used to walk around the mall around 3:00 in the morning after shows at Encore nightclub. I miss that place so much since it closed in 2015, so many fun nights with my brothers. Great video as always.
Lol as a Starbucks employee your drink order at the end stressed me out because you didn't actually say what the drink is!!! 😂😂 super cool vids though!
I've often gone through the mall on a skateboard, including when I stayed in this room, skate to the Tim Hortons at the Ice Palace for a coffee at 7am before the stores opened.
Not all the doors stay unlocked at night, but a majority of the main entrances do. Anyone can go walk around at night. There's a couple of nightclubs in the mall that are open until 2am on weekends. It can be an interesting place when it goes from quiet and serene to groups of drunk people wandering around having fun.
It appears that it is no longer listed when booking online... it used to be in the listing under the theme rooms. What have they said when trying to book?
The pool looks filthy, why isn’t it painted blue? This place is so tired and worn out looking. Love the sad looking mini fridge sitting on the floor with an extension cord.
Go there now they are redoing the wave pool floor personally i was 6 back in the day when it was the original before the ride feature up top the wavepool came when it did holy sheep shit people rushed to it. Also the Cannon ball will be my forever favorite ride
am I the only one that is scared of anything water like I love drinking water but just something about having beach like room scares me maybe the feeling of being alone in the middle of water
The Amazing Peach ! The being alone in water makes sense I hate it. I one time went to my local pool alone spent 5 minutes in the pool then texted my friend and told her to come to the pool Because I was worried I was going to drown
The World Waterpark Theme Room is NO MORE! It has been replaced... ua-cam.com/video/KsxRBjY8jD0/v-deo.html'
Why is this on my recommended and why did I watch all of it? I'm from Indiana
Imagine watching soundwave in this room
All youd hear are the hype men and the bass. The speakers face away from the room. Id rather be in the park.
That's one of the things I REALLY MUST DO before I die.

(same comment applies for the VR and non-VR version of this video)
You know, I made a mental note to talk about the smell. I actually quite enjoyed it, and was wondering how I was going to communicate that it was a pleasant smell rather than overpowering.
Oh well, can't remember it all I guess...
I can always count on you to fill in the gaps I miss!!
We need some footage of the old fantasyland train tunnels and "scary" walk through in the kids area. Still keeping my eyes open in my old 90s tapes
Lake Nipissing they no longer are taking reservations for that room.. it's literally no longer in there computer system I called today to book the room for September last person who stayed was you I found out LMFAO.
Kristy Canning o wtf
Went to the waterpark today and i managed to see the window in question! How did i ever miss that :p
This mall has to be the craziest fucking mall ever. If I ever made a Dead Rising movie...
Can we get a what happened to the tube rapid rides at the waterpark? I moved in 2010, and noticed they got cemented in and closed somewhere between. Horrible decision imo. One of the best rides.
My brother died in the tube jam back in 08' ,they had to close it because of the lawsuit
Michael Macphee ?
Youve been Got ya, ummm, that’s not a thing that happened.
I have never heard of this place and now want to go there just for this room.
Wait you can actually go inside the mall at night when after closed?
All night until it opens in the morning?
Get to do something like go for a run?
Or skateboard or biking?
Yes, the mall itself never closes. Mall walking is fine but I'm sure security would step in if you were biking or boarding.
Best Edmonton Mall I can do sprints in the mall?
I would guess officially: no. But you might be able to get away with it - hard to say.
Best Edmonton Mall wow never knew that how many times I've been to Edmonton.
Funny how I been there since young age I haven't got enough of it.
Best Edmonton Mall can you do a video about the new rec room?
I recently heard about it
Absolutely haunting place. The whole Edmonton is. I was there two weeks ago for two weeks, stayed at the Fantazyland hotel. Loved it all.
Nice let’s watch it again
Now thats a room I would love to stay for the weekend. It's got a nice 90's look in there and such
I gather China Town is the former Bourbon Street...I worked there in 86...i remember being in each Phase as they opened, as well as 3 weeks before Ph 3 opened. The mall was so quiet early mornings cept the joggers.
China town is above Bourbon Street (or BRBN st.)
You are my new favourite person :D Excellent videos! Never let go of the 80's!
When I use to work nightshifts in the winter, I would go to the mall on my days off and go jogging. It was warm inside, well lit and the mall even had security, making it much safer then jogging outside.

I see that view and all I can think is..."what a beautiful set of sightlines and killboxes!"
So called to book this room today for our anniversary. Apparently it is undergoing renovations and they will not give any info on when it will be done or if it will for sure be reopening.

Please do a video on the history of the world waterpark!
Next time up to Edmonton I will try to get room 438 even if it is now pirate themed!
Wow, was visiting my family while they stayed at the mall and they're staying in room 438, I was so hyped when I saw the window was still here
EUROPA BLVD is my favorite at night it smells of richness
I used to walk around the mall around 3:00 in the morning after shows at Encore nightclub. I miss that place so much since it closed in 2015, so many fun nights with my brothers. Great video as always.
The bottom of the wave pool is not as gross as it seems. It's actually a lot nicer in person
That’s so freaking cool!! Now I have to book a night in that room lol
Can’t wait to go here on July 1st for the brick hockey tournament for my cousin for a whole week😌😁😄😄
this would be dope during soundwave
Lol as a Starbucks employee your drink order at the end stressed me out because you didn't actually say what the drink is!!! 😂😂 super cool vids though!
Nice video👍🏼
What happened to the aquariums on 2nd level near the Tim Hortons!
I want to know too!
They took out the aquariums and put up a Tim Hortons.
Man every from the last time I was able to go is just gone 😂
Oh my god I had no idea this has been there all this time! It’s so cute! :)
Is that room more expensive than other rooms because of the view?
No it was actually one of the less expensive theme rooms, because it was not considered to be a "luxury theme room" by FLH.
It looks cheesy and outdated. The room is probably older than most vacationer
If I'm ever murdered while I sleep, I hope it happens in a room just like this.
Why? It's not like anyone would see you.
@@HiDDENk00l your reply doesn’t make sense
Love the video !! And love your Channel 👌🏻 :)
Damn this is awesome
Khushi
I prefer how it looks during sound wave lol
I couldn’t find he window! I kept looking, but just couldn’t see it!
The mini fridge kills it. They should have had a basket type wrap on it so it looks like a Pic nic
How much did it cost you to rent the room it self?
Now There Are More Than One Waterpark Rooms You Can Book
Nick_Crouton 666 wait what
David Etter How Could You Not Understand That
Imagine how the night view is with the new paint.
I did the demolition for this room, honestly was the cheesiest thing I’ve ever seen haha. Didn’t even know the room existed before.
I always look at outside from mall
Can you make another video of the new ride at Galaxyland and also I was there today
Dang it 2 .. I went on it for school and it’s really fun! We went on it plenty of times
I had NO idea you had access to the rest of the mall at night!
My buddy and I use to hang around there 20 years ago at 2am. We would rollerblade through the mall, trying to avoid security lol.
I've often gone through the mall on a skateboard, including when I stayed in this room, skate to the Tim Hortons at the Ice Palace for a coffee at 7am before the stores opened.
lol I’ve stayed here before (yes it’s even cheesier in real life) and I never knew it was considered a “hidden gem” ?
What kind of mall has a wave pool?
C30 Guy Misc The best kind
West Edmonton Mall👍
reupload? without vr this time i see
For some reason the footage of the waterpark at night creeps me the fuck out
I love biege color and i miss the old water
Now how much is it?
Rock star room...
nice
Im guessing only hotel guests can walk around the mall overnight? Or are the actual doors unlocked?
Not all the doors stay unlocked at night, but a majority of the main entrances do. Anyone can go walk around at night. There's a couple of nightclubs in the mall that are open until 2am on weekends. It can be an interesting place when it goes from quiet and serene to groups of drunk people wandering around having fun.
I'd rent that room.
This is so cool!! Lol!
Best videos !!
I’ve stayed in that room twice.
How much is it to rent this room?
I was there yesterday lol and was in the hotel
Cool
The only thing missing from that room is an 8 ball of coke.
It's not available anymore they won't book me into the suite I've been back and forth with them fml
It appears that it is no longer listed when booking online... it used to be in the listing under the theme rooms. What have they said when trying to book?
Best Edmonton Mall they said it doesn't even come up in the computer system
This room is being reno'd currently, word is it might no longer even be the Water Park Themed room with the window.
Terik Flamond what
I tried booking the room for this weekend but its no longer available / she made it sound like they're no longer gonna have the room as beach themed
Terik Flamond nooo
i love west Edmonton mall fantasy land hotel i em going there for my birthday on October 17
I would go with the truck room because i drive truck for a living
The rest of the theme rooms are very unappealing when you see them and not worth the money
Not true some are really cool
The pool looks filthy, why isn’t it painted blue? This place is so tired and worn out looking. Love the sad looking mini fridge sitting on the floor with an extension cord.
Go there now they are redoing the wave pool floor personally i was 6 back in the day when it was the original before the ride feature up top the wavepool came when it did holy sheep shit people rushed to it. Also the Cannon ball will be my forever favorite ride
Omg the bottom of the wave pool. Grosssssss
It doesn't look like that now. They did a complete makeover and looks nice now.
6:50 pleasantville Lol
Don't walk around WEM at 2am unless you want a criminal trespassing charge and a 10 year ban. sincerely, an edmontonian
Now a pirate themed room...
It’s a walking hallway for bungy jumpers
It’s under renovation now
am I the only one that is scared of anything water like I love drinking water but just something about having beach like room scares me maybe the feeling of being alone in the middle of water
The Amazing Peach ! The being alone in water makes sense I hate it. I one time went to my local pool alone spent 5 minutes in the pool then texted my friend and told her to come to the pool Because I was worried I was going to drown
I almost died there
I dropped My phone in the jacuzzi in summer 2021
I live in saskatchewan, but, imagine living in edmonton and getting to go there EVERYDAY IF YOU WANTED!!!!
Fantasyland hotel is cheesy. They need to upgrade and make it upscale.
Vini No they don't and no it's not, when you make a hotel upscale you make it more expensive to stay there!
Hi
Roman Room.
😂
Lol how old are you?
2018? Place looks like shit, i would not pay a dollar for that room
