Thinking of trying this out. I just painted mine silver to match my Vette, didn't really like how the paint turned out because it's not as shiny as the regular clear coat on the car, so might take the steps and start wet sanding. Mine is probably a 3/10 as it stands.. looks good 👍🏼
Yeah if it's in that bad of shape, you might as well go for it. It's been a year since I did mine and couldn't be happier. Just make sure you're wet sanding and when you think you've sanded enough, you're half way there. Keep sanding :)
Finally finished mine today. After working thru 3000, 5000, 7000 grit and buffing...still had fine scratches and gloss finish was good but not hitting the wow factor. I went back to 800 grit and sprayed clear coat over 800 grit. Ended up with orange peel effect but much happier and glossy wow factor now.
302VetteLife yea thanks I’m going to use your method starting this weekend wet sand it with 400 & then 600 grit & then 1 pass 2000 grit you follow me on IG don’t you I will post it there yours looks great 💯
Man, from the cameras eye view it's a 10/10. Nice work!
Thatnks, I'm pretty happy with it. I ordered my new weatherstrips last night. Looking forward to putting them on and she should be good as new.
Nice work on it. Came out good. I'm going to try the aftermarket weather stripping on the halo. Just like you said, figured it can't be that bad.
I'm going to get mine ordered tomorrow. Mine are completely shot.

If you have orange peel. wet sand it with 1500 and polish it. It should come out perfect.
Great job Rob I’m going to do my top soon too
You'll be pleased with the results. Good luck.

@@markcrisp7315 I think I do. Just remember, when you think you're done sanding, keep going. That was my only takeaway.
Maybe try...wipe new. Instead of polishing at the end?
What did you polish it with? Just pulled a wrap off my spare top and found a beautiful clear top under it. Top side has seen better days!
I just used a fine cut polish like Chemical guys V38. Nothing too fancy. I used a DA polisher.
Rob did you lay down each grit all in 1 day ? I’m doing mine now with 400 grit
How many hours did it take?
I'd guess about 8 hours total. It's a job but worth it in the end.
