In todays video we extract caffeine from the worlds strongest coffee, Death Wish Coffee. This has always been on my bucket list of things to do and now I can finally cross it off. This is a great example of liquid to liquid extraction, as it deals with solubility's of both water and DCM.

I wonder of you ground the coffee very fine (turkish grind) almost powdery, would that make you extract more caffeine? because the surface area increased?

When dealing with emulsion in a separate funnel cap it and turn it 90' on its side.the increased surface area break the emulsion

...if you just brew coffee, stir in calcium carbonate and dcm, will crystals form on the surface ? I saw this at Suny cobleskill and am not able to remember what was used. It was not filtered it was not run through an apparatus. Stuff was added to hot coffee,crystaline caffeine formed in spikey flowerettes

I would honestly love to! I just ordered another type of coffee that someone suggested as well! Maybe I should make it into a series of caffeine extraction from other coffees!

Other than that, I received my bag recently, the taste is really good, not rubbery like Very Strong Coffee(1300mg)
Idk how they are able to give a smooth taste, while having a high caffeine content :o
@@PrestonImpx it was probably too much caffeine you probably didn't have enough of the chemical to get it really crystallized cuz you said it yourself you're not used to dealing with that much caffeine believe it or not there's one even stronger it's cold Devil's Mountain Coffee it's like 2 days worth of your caffeine content you should try that one

I liked this video, but watching NIleRed's video on the same subject made me realize that a lot of the script, and even the procedure, is really similar. Would rather see something original.
Unfortunately this is the method that is used most. Though I can understand what you mean, NileRed has always been a huge inspiration to me.
I am working on a system to extract caffeine with super critical extraction, though it is aways off still
Death wish coffee isn’t all great I drink it and at the end of the day it taste just like coffee

Every once in a while I use a scoop or two in addition to my regular blend
You need to heat up the caffeine you got it and collect the solid with a observe glass to obtain pure caffeine,the caffeine you got in the video was not pure

@@PrestonImpx in the process of the recrystallization you need DI to wash away the left over solvent and salt as well
Yeah....sublimation is the key.
@@PrestonImpx even if you recrystalize it several more times, it won't ever be completely pure caffeine. Theres going to be a significant % of theobromine, theophylline, and other substituted xanthines, as well as substituted pyridines. Theophylline for example is usually present at about 35mg per cup, just as an example

Overrated and not any stronger than your regular coffee and it's definitely not worth 20 bucks.
he got 800mg of caffeine from 20gs of grounds, thats a shit ton, ur avg would come out to like 200-250mgs
