Matteus Mancuso has gotten a lot of well-deserved attention, but Joshua Meader deserves at least as much. He is a next-level guitar player, breaking new ground like crazy.
This adaptation was next level for me. Not many guitarists would attempt this Metheny song, especially with all those chord changes over that 3/4 feel. Sixteenth-note flurries that kept going up and down the neck. The improvisation, and the fact that you did not repeat yourself note-wise, places you in virtuoso status. My favorite to date! Amazing.
I agree, this guy is not like many guitarists. He eats jazz since he was a kid and play all day. He reached a level out of this world, incredible indeed
probably the most underrated and underappreciated Pat Metheny record mostly because it had a hit song on it last train home-the only one that ever got any airplay even on straight jazz stations sadly, when the rest of the record is just absolutely burning Brazilian killer polyrhythmic amazing stuff you featuring it!
I think this is the first time I see someone playing over a metheny track without trying to mimic metheny's style. You put your own voice over the song. Very nice
Josh ... so good man. Like holy smokes ... I appreciate how you don't over upload. Everything you post is so well prepared and high quality. Thank you for sharing what you do.
Smooth as butter. A very nice tribute to a great musician and the various bands he put together. All of your different genres are amazing, but your Jazz improves are the best.
Wow! What an extraordinary player. I love the dynamics, the ripping and the harmonic interpretation of one of my fav toons. We truly are lucky to be able to see and hear such amazing players. Up there with all my current crop of heroes like Max Ostro and Matteo Mancuso.
Joshua, do you know of Sam Greenfield? I have transcribed a few of his sax solos, and found them really engaging to play on guitar. Check out the solo in "here's my song" if you get the chance.
Sounds great but less is more..the problem with technical guitar work is that sometimes emotional content goes missing between the arpeggios Wes Montgomery was one of Pat’s guitar heroes he was a master and huge advocate of less is more. The space between the notes and how you phase them is just as important as how fast you can play scales in fact it’s more difficult to do.

collab when tho

This level of ability is rather thought provoking.
0:41-0:57 is one of the most insane runs I've ever heard. Astounding playing!
haha cheers man!
and it's so joyfull - like a small child leaping around in a puddle of rainwater
I love the fact that you quote Pat enough, but actually just blaze a Josh Meader solo :) Really really great.
I love the ease of his right hand.
If there is one player who could play a Pat Metheny composition so tastefully, it’s Josh… as always, Bravo

I hope Mr. Metheny gets to hear this 🥰

To me it was Pat Metheny style but faster and so clean at that speed sounding different

Wich one of the 4 Kiesels is your favourite?
tough question! they're all great, but it might be this one, and goldy!
@@joshmeaderofficial THX Josh! I had a Carvin once (before it became Kiesel) also goldy!
I don’t really believe that a human can improvise like this
Anyone else feeling a snarky puppy vibe to this ?
Your a monster brosif

could u PLSSS tell us how u got this tone ?
Going through my Matchless Avalon amp for this one, with Strymon Timeline and some Fabfilter plug-ins :)
Chops to burn...

More is also more.
The problem is only that you are comparing two unrelated phonemes because you are judgmental
@@Gaiaslover couldnt agree more! - he soars like Allan did - really - just in a different mode :-). It's so utmost beautiful
Freaking Joshua Meader. I think I’ll get a black t shirt made with just that written in white letters across the chest:
Freaking Joshua Meader
hahahah thanks man!
Damn!
