good heat out of that burner Matt, nice one. David know's his stuff. Lovely load of copper too! looking forward to seeing you make some Aluminium Bronze and seeing what you do with it o/
Thanks I got a few things in mind just need the time and the weather but also have a trip coming and preparing for that as well I’m looking forward to the trip should be a blast
blower might play a role in a different style but not this one don't know about the iron though or is that something your working on? Thanks for watching!
@@InsideTheMindOfMatt I got an old book called The Boy Mechanic that has plans to build an iron melting back yard cupola foundry furnace. I can highly recommend the book. It had plans to build 100's of things kids would never dream of building these days. The book came out about 100 years ago but reprints can sometimes be found online for sale. My local library had a copy when I was a kid and I built an electric motor for a science fair in 2nd grade from plans in that book. Very entertaining read just to see what kids did for fun before video games and the internet. A cool dog powered go cart was another project I wanted to build out of that book. Here's a modern furnace link to inspire you. ua-cam.com/video/fujtl1dlB9M/v-deo.html
@@InsideTheMindOfMatt - I think the original saying was referring to oranges. Another day and time - I probably heard it first in Junior High - about 60 years ago - LOL.
this is still straight copper I need to get ingots to be able to measure my quantities. But AL/Bronze is very resilient to corrosion vs copper will oxidize quick in the right conditions. Stay tune bronze soon!
Greg J Ding Ding Ding WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Either your the only one that made it this far in the video, the only one paying attention, or the only one who know the recipe lol but yes 89/11 is the real ratio I’ll be following. And I really just misspoke but thanks for watching 😁
Ah it's not that bad, I work in a sheet metal shop where we burn and weld galvanized metal daily for years. As long as you have good ventilation indoors, or do it outdoors, we've never had a problem with fume fever.
I just bought my t piece and pipe this afternoon for same burner 😁
Congrats on the new burner! Good to see a success!
Thanks me too but copper is no joke HOT!!!!
great job, Melting copper badge achieved

Great video to show you don't need a blower for these temperature melts. Casting iron next with a coke furnace!

Yes this burner is a beast
Your crucible looks like something you’d find at the titanic wreckage lol
ya that thing has seen some action :)
"If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking until you do suck seed."
I think you sucked seed this time Matt!
I can't wait for the first pour!

I like shiny metals in general, heh, but that aluminium bronze has a lovely color. How fast does it oxidize or does the surface keep that shine?

@@InsideTheMindOfMatt yes, I saw somebody else casting aluminum bronze, it looked cool. Waiting to see yours now 😁
Nice pour. Yeah, you were struggling with those pliers. There's gotta be a better tool for the job. Maybe you can cast it!
might smith something ;) thanks for watching

Do you know that the copper is no longer clean.they will only get dirty price.
I have intentions of scrapping the stuff I melt it’s all in the name of art but yes I’m aware 😉
Did anybody else spend the first portion of this video trying to figure out what happened to Paul?
🤣 I don’t sound anything like Paul 👉😂
I see your forge bucket has a yellow stain, for the sake of your health, read up on why we use black pipe for burners and NEVER galvanised metal!!!!
